Here’s what Kinder Ice Cream has to say: “KINDER Ice Cream Stick and KINDER Ice Cream Sandwich are all 100 calories or less and made with fresh milk. Fairly. I was a bit “meh” to be honest but the kids were happy with them.
What did you like or dislike about Kinder Ice Cream Stick? What did your child like or dislike?
I basically disliked that they weren’t chocolatey enough! Kinder to me means chocolate, I adore Kinder eggs and bars so for them to be lacking in it was a bit of a let down. These were like Mini Milks but not as creamy. However my husband was pleased because he (a coeliac) could eat them.

I loved the soft biscuit things, as did my eldest.

I think we probably would get them for the kids, as they were happy with them, I guess because they didn’t have the expectation of chocolate!

I think so, if they were wanting an ice cream, as my kids did like them a lot, and they are child friendly.

The loved the film of chocolate and the ice creams actual flavour. They were also the perfect size not only for my 6 year old but also 4 and 2 year olds

My kids enjoyed them and didn't say anything bad about them, but did say they would prefer the stick lollies instead.

Yes they were nice, but also not really as the price to me is too much for what it is and in comparison to the market

Er.....just more affordable ice cream? 3.50 for 4 cornetto types is extortionate in relation to actual cornettos?! A new idea? Ice cream bombs, balls of ice cream in chocolate? Like a choc ice but a ball shape

My children said they liked them but after they had tried one of each didn't really want to have them again (even though they were offered).

They were small enough for a little treat. The children liked the chocolate coating. My son, who is younger, found it easier to manage than some ice creams.

The wafer seemed to go soggy quickly and the whole thing collapsed pretty quickly. The children found it tricky to eat without getting in a mess.

Please explain why or why not I don't think so. The ice cream seemed a little bland and I think the children were hoping for something a bit more chocolatey! I personally wouldn't choose it. I like ice cream to be more flavoursome.

No I don't think so - not at the price.

Something more akin to Kinder eggs. That's what my children were expecting when I told them we were getting Kinder ice creams. Something with more chocolate in it or around it!

I liked the size. My child didn't like the chocolate and asked me to take it off. She liked thr ice cream part. I thought the ice cream was quite soft and would be messy on a hot day - eg mini milks are more 'icy' so don't melt as quickly which is better for small children.

I didn't manage to find them in stock anywhere so haven't tried them. They seem expensive for thr price. I think my child would prefer something more colourful or fancier.

I don't think so, there are so many other kinds available for a better price.

I had expected it to have the double layer of milk and white chocolate - surely that is Kinder's USP?

I think think they are a brilliant serving size for younger children and they reminded me of mini milks. The ice cream was nice and creamy. My 6 year old enjoyed them, my 8 year old felt there’re wasn’t enough chocolate. It would have been nice to have the chocolate covering more of the ice lolly.

We weren’t really keen on the biscuit/wafer but the ice cream was nice and they were a good size.

While I wouldn’t rule them out I would probably go for a different brand like mini milk due to cost as I felt they were expensive in comparison.

I would recommend the ice cream sticks to friends with young children.

The kids loved them but to be honest, they like all ice cream! DH and I enjoyed the sandwich. We couldn’t find the sticks in the shop just the sandwiches and cones.

We all liked the taste of these but they were a bit messy for DD1 with SEN who takes a while to eat things as it melted and went soggy which she finds upsetting but she did enjoy the taste and the rest of us liked them.

As others have said, they are quite pricey for what they are and our kids are happy with most ice creams so no, we would probably choose cheaper alternatives.

We wouldn’t go out of our way to tell them about it as it wasn’t amazing, but if it came up in conversation we would say we enjoyed it when we had it.

• If Kinder Ice Cream was launching a new product, what would you like it to be?

Maybe a twist on the bubblegum pots so ice cream tub with one or two of those mini kinder eggs at the bottom. I associate kinder with the eggs so it would be nice to have reference to that. Or ice cream eggs to eat at home as a dessert a bit like those Cadbury dairy milk eggs with mousse inside but with ice cream. Or a big ice cream egg to be carved up like an artic roll but with the kinder biscuit and choc flavours instead of sponge and vanilla ice cream.

Surprisingly tasty so very satisfied.

2 out of 3 of the kids loved them - perfect size for a little treat.

We couldn’t find these anywhere - looked in about 10 supermarkets in a 10 mile radius. In the end we bought the cones which were absolutely delicious - especially the generous amount of kinder flavoured chocolate at the top of the cone.

Please explain why or why not Unfortunately it’s out of our price bracket for a regular treat. As much as we all loved the cones and two kids loved the sticks, we would probably opt for something cheaper but just as tasty.

Probably not mainly because of the price issue.

The kids have said they’d prefer something more chocolatey so maybe something similar to the eggs in a frozen ice cream format would go down well.

Not the ones we tried, as too small and a bit bland for older kids. The cones looked good but not tried them yet.

Probably not. For the price and flavor. Just didn't taste as much like kinder chocolate as we would have liked.

Either something like those kinder eggs where you use a spoon to scoop it out but in icecream form with a surprise inside. Or a kinder hippo.

Thanks for choosing us for this one - kids loved it! We only got to test the Ice Cream Stick from Waitrose, because Asda wouldn’t accept the voucher for the wafer and we aren’t close to a Sainsbury’s.

Mine really enjoyed the Ice Cream stick. It is similar to a mini milk, but the addition of the chocolate went down well. It is a good size for a child.

They enjoyed the creamy taste and the chocolate on the top. They would choose it over a mini milk for the chocolate alone. There wasn’t anything they didn’t like. I thought they were quite expensive for what they are to be honest, and for me, they didn’t taste enough of the familiar Kinder flavour that we are fond of.

We didn’t get to test these for the reason mentioned above.

Please explain why or why not My children would choose the Ice Cream sticks over similar ones, purely because of the addition of the chocolate. I don’t feel the chocolate justified the additional cost, compared to the similar alternatives.

My children enjoyed it, so i would recommend them, but I think they’re overpriced.

Yes. I think the portions are great. DS often has eyes bigger than his belly and these are a perfect size for him as a treat.

Yes. They are nice enough and small enough to fit in any freezer.

I’m not sure but another sandwich ice cream, maybe with bueno flavours.

We really enjoyed them. The sticks were reminiscent of mini milks but felt a little bit more grown up. The sandwich was tasty and held its shape well. I do not usually like the biscuit part of a sandwich icecream as the biscuit loses its integrity but these were lovely.

We liked its size. We liked its price. It didn't feel like a child's icecream but a bit more special.

We liked its size and price. The sandwich wasn't soggy like other biscuit sandwiches can be. DD preferred this to the stick but it did not feel full of sugar like other options.

Yes. They were a lovely size and made a novel change from other products on the market. We love all things Kinder and these were a pleasant addition to the range.

Yes. They were lovely. The price was appropriate and the product and packaging caught my eye. We shared ours with friends who also enjoyed them and have subsequently purchased them. I will definitely be adding them to our shopping in the summer.

If Kinder Ice Cream was launching a new product, what would you like it to be?

We also tried the cornetto style ice creams and they were amazing! The ice cream had a delicious hazelnut flavour. We would love to see more of that available. I would happily buy that in other formats. Perhaps with a chocolate drizzle and chopped hazlenuts covered in chocolate to pour on at the table.

I would buy them again as she liked them and I felt like they would be good when she didn't want something huge. would love to see a dairy free version as two of my children are dairy free

I think these are better suited to younger children than my own (8 & 11). They were ok but a bit small, they are past the mini milk stage which these are very similar to.

I liked the calorie count and these would be good for those looking for a small sweet treat whilst on a diet. It tasted like kinder. My eldest so and husband felt they were small and best suited to little children.
3. as above but kinder ice cream sandwich? We preferred the sticks. They were nice to taste but we all missed the chocolate element. And these were messier to eat.
4. would I choose kinder ice cream as a treat for me/children? I would if they were on offer. I felt £3.50 was too expensive for the size.

If it were a direct choice I would choose the cheaper option. If the kinder products were on offer they will be snapped up but I wouldn’t buy them at full price when I could choose a cheaper option.

Yes we would! They were all very delicious and are firm favourites.

Along with many others, I really liked the size. It feels at the moment that it is a fight to stop the kids eating too much of the wrong stuff. Easter has probably made it worse, but great to have a small ice-cream that feels like a treat. Appealed to the 8 year old in a way that a mini-milk wouldn't!!!
Kids enjoyed eating them and reported them to be tasty.

I might do - good to have in the freezer for a treat snack on a hot day as not too big (in the same category as a mini-magnum type ice-cream from Lidl)
- Would you recommend Kinder Ice Cream to friends or family? Please explain why or why not. I might do but think there are other products (eg Lidl mini ice-creams) which are better value and more likely to appeal to adults as well as kids.

I wasn't that impressed by the ice cream itself. Like many other posters I was expecting something more chocolatey and Kinder-egg-like, instead of rather bland vanilla ice cream. I like the focus on limiting the amount of saturated fat and sugar though, and the small portion sizes. Kids ate them without complaint, although didn't ask for more of either type on subsequent days.

I like the portion size, but the ice cream was pretty boring and there wasn't enough chocolate! Kids ate them, but I think they would have preferred (much) more chocolate on them.

These weren't such a hit with my kids. My four year old attempted to remove the biscuit layer and things got very messy. Lack of chocolate was a shame and doesn't really fit with the Kinder brand.

No. They are very expensive for what they are. I usually buy supermarket own-brand mini ice cream lollies for a treat, which are much better value and more tasty.

My 2 year old liked the ice cream sticks and my older kids disliked them. The ice cream sticks didn't appeal to me.

Older kids prefered the sandwiches but the biscuit base didn't have a nice bite, it was too soft and almost bland.

No because the ice creams weren't what i would expect from Kinder.

I think Kinder should make biscuits, edible chocolate biscuits straws and they should make their original kinder chocolate bar into an ice cream.

My children really liked them. I didn't eat them as I had given up sugary foods for Lent, but I really like the fact that they are under 100 cals.

• What did you like or dislike about Kinder Ice Cream Stick? What did your child like or dislike? Both children liked it. One said this was his favourite and the other preferred the sandwich, but both children liked both sorts. I think they liked the chocolate part, but they both seemed to really enjoy the Kinder ice cream too. They are normally quick to point out the size of treats, but neither said anything about it being fairly small. As they would normally choose something like a magnum from choice, this seems a much healthier choice, so I'm pleased they liked them so much.

I though it was going to be messy, but I was pleasantly surprised that even my two messy eaters ate this without getting in a sticky mess! They really liked the biscuit part and seemed particularly excited to try them. They remind me of the ice cream between wafers I had as a child, so I'm quite excited about trying them now too!

Yes, definitely. My children both loved them and I like the fact they are not as big as other ice creams. Both my children have a sweet tooth, and I worry about them having too much sugar. Whenever we have hot weather they almost seem to think it's the law to have ice cream, so I'm pleased to find a slightly healthier alternative. As I'm trying to cut down sugar too, I think I'd pick them for me too over a bigger more calorific ice cream.

Yes, for all the reasons I've already mentioned. I initially thought the price seemed a bit steep, but once I realised how many you get in a box (10 sticks and 6 sandwiches) I thought they were pretty good value for money.

Something like the white chocolate bueno would be amazing, or something based on a Kinder Surprise as my children love them.

Emphasis on the natural ingredients. Lots of choc and plenty of the white creamy flavour.

Overall I and my daughter were very satisfied with Kinder Ice Cream.
My daughter said she would give the sandwich 8 out of 10.
My daughter would give the ice cream stick 7 out of 10.

• What did you like or dislike about Kinder Ice Cream Stick? What did your child like or dislike?

I liked that it was a sweet, low calorie snack suitable for hot days. I also liked that it's calcium rich and I enjoyed the taste. There wasn't really anything I disliked.
My daughter liked that the Kinder Ice Cream stick had the chocolate layer on it, but was a little disappointed that the stick didn't taste like a kinder chocolate bar.

• What did you like or dislike about Kinder Ice Cream Sandwich? What did your child like or dislike?

I liked the taste and I expected that the biscuit part may have a soggy texture as it was being eaten, but that was definitely not the case.
I particularly liked that it wasn't messy to eat, which I was quite suprised by, as I expected it to melt and become difficult to eat. I preferred the taste of the ice cream in the sandwich to that of the stick.
The only thing I didn't like was the price is a little high for 6 small ice creams, and if I was going to buy these, I would look for an offer.

My daughter liked the Kinder Ice Cream sandwich and said it was "Creamy, refreshing and soft". She also liked that it wasn't messy.
It daughter felt that a thin layer of chocolate should be added, in between the sandwich and the ice cream. I however don't think the chocolate is necessary and think it is sweet enough without any additions.

In the summer, I may well choose Kinder Ice Cream for my daughter over a snack such as chocolate etc. I would also eat them myself, if we had them in the freezer. If my daughter asked me to get them, and the price wasn't too high, I definitely would buy them, although she did say she would probably prefer other snacks.

I would definitely recommend Kinder Ice Cream to friends and family with children, or those who wanted a small low calorie ice cream snack, as I thought they tasted good and were fun, however I would advise them that they are small and therefore probably better value on a special offer, particularly for the sandwich ice cream.

• If Kinder Ice Cream was launching a new product, what would you like it to be?

My daughter would like the new product to be an ice cream in the shape of an egg with chocolate around the outside, that you eat with a spoon; she would like it to include a toy like the kinder eggs do.

what great product test!

1. We were all really impressed with the flavour of both of the products, they were both distinctively kinder flavours.
2. We both liked the taste and the appearance of the kinder stick, however, this was a small portion and would not be enough to fill anybody over the age of ten.
3. The ice cream sandwich was really tasty and my little boys favourite. It seemed different to a lot of products on the market.
4. I would certainly choose the ice cream sandwich again. Not too sure about the ice cream stick as it was quite small and expensive for what it was.
5. If I had to recommend a product I would ask the makers of kinder to go for a product for the adults such as a bueno ice cream.

My youngest child, who is nine, quite enjoyed the ice creams but my older children thought they were too small.

I liked the fact they were quite small. My teenagers did not! They did say they quite liked the taste but would have liked them to be bigger.

My youngest said the outside of the ice cream sandwiches was a bit “weird and soggy”. I liked the portion size and didn’t mind the taste - it didn’t feel quite ‘treaty’ enough for me though.

I probably wouldn’t choose them again, to be honest, as I felt they were quite expensive and not special enough to cost as much as they do,

I might recommend it to friends with smaller children but not to people with older children like mine.

Maybe ice cream with chunks of Kinder bar in? Or something related to the Hippo biscuits - all my children are oddly fond of those!

I disliked that they weren’t that chocolatey enough! The kids liked the amount of chocolate, and youngest thought they were "really nice and creamy"

No as they are far too expensive for what they are and there are many cheaper products available which are more tasty. Without the voucher i simply would not have £3.50 in my food budget for something like this.

An egg! with cholcolate ice cream outside and vanilla in the middle but same size as the kinder surprise eggs
