Sharp Plasmacluster air purifiers feedback thread

AnnMumsnet · 23/11/2010 18:34

This thread is for the 10 Mumsnetters who are reviewing a Sharp Plasmacluster air purifier in their home. All reviewers have at least one child with asthma or dust allergies - this could be mild, moderate or severe. Reviewers will be adding feedback and thoughts over the next three months, in a diary style.

However if you are not a reviewer but are interested in this product please feel free to add comments or ask questions of Sharp or of the reviewers.

Please note: This feedback will only be used by Sharp to inform their development of the product, it will not be treated as a clinical trial.

Sharp have some specific areas they would like you to comment on - you won't be able to add comments/ views on all of these straight away as some are looking at the longer term issues so please do revisit the thread and update your responses over the period of the review.

Please state the age of your child(ren) with asthma / dust allergies as well as the severity of their condition.

Initially, please add your first impressions of the product when it arrived: for example: overall first impressions of the product, was it what you expected? Where have you placed it? How was it to get it set up/ started etc. If you have any queries about the product please either post them here and Sharp will aim to respond or email MNHQ.

Then once you have had the product in your home for awhile, please add your thoughts, comments or experiences regarding the following areas - and the possible effects the air purifier has had for yourself and your child(ren).

Affect on asthma / dust allergy generally
Any reduction in illnesses in the home or affects on winter colds you would normally expect to see
Any reduction in smells around the home
Any reduction or effect on dust in the home - and the effect of this on your child with asthma
Any reduction or effect on mould in and around the home (in troublesome areas such as Bathroom and Kitchen where ventilation might be an issue) - and the effect of this on your child with asthma
Any other comments?

All reviewers who add feedback here will receive a £50 high street gift voucher as a token of thanks for taking part.

Many thanks

MNHQ

No box here. Will they just take the machine?

AnnMumsnet · 28/02/2011 12:35

Can you box it up in another box at all? Does need to be transported safely. Sorry

I will look. Our problem is that Dh put it away months ago in the loft. Then had a re organise of the loft. Then had an accident on his motorbike on his way to work... so now can't lift anything because of shoulder injury and it's all too heavy for me, so as we can't see it, can't get to it because must be behind other heavy stuff. ramble ramble ramble. Will try to get to it after work today.

QOD · 28/02/2011 17:49

wELL THEY CAME TO PICK it up, but as I had said, I wasn't home until after 4.30.......... so I still have it!

StarExpat · 28/02/2011 17:50

No box. Not here yet. Worried

AnnMumsnet · 28/02/2011 17:55

QOD - were there any instructions as to rearranging collection - assume they left a card?

OP posts:
StarExpat · 28/02/2011 18:27

We were home at 4.30. No card no one came... How late should we wait for them tonight? If they aren't coming, I'll plug it in for one extra night..

QOD · 28/02/2011 19:09

Yes they did, but they are closed, they want a number to ring me on and when I am at work, I can't take calls.
Sooooooooooooo I will try tomorrow if I remember to rearrange!

ilovesprouts · 28/02/2011 19:11

did we need to sign fot it to go bk as i did not !

StarExpat · 28/02/2011 19:19

They can ring me on mobile at work and I will ring back when available. No idea if they came or not Confused. Have plugged it back in as they are no show until now as DS has gone to bed wheezing (haven't gotten replacement yet).

StarExpat · 28/02/2011 20:48

OK I've emailed GemmaSharp, who had emailed me earlier on in the product test about the missing box. Maybe they can bring a box with them? Maybe not...

Will they just come tomorrow after 4.30? Wednesday we won't be in until after 5.30 because of previous arrangements. Every other day by 4.30, though (usually a bit earlier).

I haven't received the high street voucher either.

FannyFifer · 28/02/2011 21:46

Seems to be a bit disorganised for collecting machines.

StarExpat · 01/03/2011 09:23

An extra night with the machine was actually much appreciated. They can put off collecting for as long as they want Wink

QOD · 01/03/2011 18:03

Well, I spoke the the couriers and they are only in my area in the mornings, now much as I like mumsnet, I am not taking a morning off....

So, Ann, they said can YOU check with Sharp if it's ok for me to leave it in a black bin bag under my caravan for collection on Thursday? It's secure as in no one would see it, and no one would have a ruddy clue what it was. They are only happy to pick up something that is left outside if Sharp are happy.

If not, then they will have to specifically come on Sat or an afternoon, but they say they don't do that in my area ............

DaftApeth · 01/03/2011 18:10

It all seems terribly complicated. Would have maybe helped if Sharp had contacted you all individually to see when you were available!

Hope you can make use of the extra time with it QOD Wink

StarExpat · 01/03/2011 19:23

No courier has contacted me. I told GemmaSharp that today would need to be after 5.30 and tomorrow and other days after 4.30pm. Poor DS was poorly today at the cm and needed to take him to the dr after work. Another night with lovely air is appreciated.

AnnMumsnet · 01/03/2011 19:23

QOD - will definitely ask for you. Sorry for the hassle

No problemo! I'm off to Ireland Friday at the crack of dawn so it will be DH's problem...... just don't tell him about the £50 vouchers!!

THEY ARE MINE ALL MINE

mwaaa ha haaaaaaaaa

ilovesprouts · 01/03/2011 21:12

annemumumnet i was not asked to sign when they took parcel bk are our vouchers on the way ? :)

StarExpat · 01/03/2011 21:13

I don't believe the bit about the vouchers now.

However, I am just so incredibly grateful for the past few months of lovely breathing and sleep for our lovely DS.

DaftApeth · 02/03/2011 09:21

I'm sure AnnMumsnet won't let them get away with no vouchers.

They have generally been very tenacious at chasing up things in the past. My years supply of curry sauce took some chasing by MN but did arrive eventually!

magnolia74 · 02/03/2011 13:41

vouchers came today Grin

but still no collecton, we rearranged for tuesday morning but they haven't come Hmm

StarExpat · 02/03/2011 13:51

Magnolia I think they secretly want some of us to keep them Wink
I'm hoping they come today or tomorrow...

AnnMumsnet · 02/03/2011 14:37

magnolia - do you have contact details of the courier firm? Would you mind contacting them? Sorry as I know it has been a bit tricky.
Do PM me if you need me to assist with anything!
