AnnMumsnet · 23/11/2010 18:34

This thread is for the 10 Mumsnetters who are reviewing a Sharp Plasmacluster air purifier in their home. All reviewers have at least one child with asthma or dust allergies - this could be mild, moderate or severe. Reviewers will be adding feedback and thoughts over the next three months, in a diary style.

However if you are not a reviewer but are interested in this product please feel free to add comments or ask questions of Sharp or of the reviewers.

Please note: This feedback will only be used by Sharp to inform their development of the product, it will not be treated as a clinical trial.

Sharp have some specific areas they would like you to comment on - you won't be able to add comments/ views on all of these straight away as some are looking at the longer term issues so please do revisit the thread and update your responses over the period of the review.

Please state the age of your child(ren) with asthma / dust allergies as well as the severity of their condition.

Initially, please add your first impressions of the product when it arrived: for example: overall first impressions of the product, was it what you expected? Where have you placed it? How was it to get it set up/ started etc. If you have any queries about the product please either post them here and Sharp will aim to respond or email MNHQ.

Then once you have had the product in your home for awhile, please add your thoughts, comments or experiences regarding the following areas - and the possible effects the air purifier has had for yourself and your child(ren).

Affect on asthma / dust allergy generally
Any reduction in illnesses in the home or affects on winter colds you would normally expect to see
Any reduction in smells around the home
Any reduction or effect on dust in the home - and the effect of this on your child with asthma
Any reduction or effect on mould in and around the home (in troublesome areas such as Bathroom and Kitchen where ventilation might be an issue) - and the effect of this on your child with asthma
Any other comments?

All reviewers who add feedback here will receive a £50 high street gift voucher as a token of thanks for taking part.

Many thanks

MNHQ

It's getting silly now!

StarExpat · 10/03/2011 19:59

Ok what is going on? When are they coming? Confused

DaftApeth · 10/03/2011 20:28

I'd be tempted to just plug it back in until they are on the doorstep!

FannyFifer · 10/03/2011 20:32

Shhhhhhh stop posting on this thread, stop reminding them. Wink

StarExpat · 10/03/2011 20:51

Well, I have plugged it back in. DS had a horrid chest infection when we unplugged it for 2 days Hmm
He's on antibiotics now but the coughing fits and wheezing have calmed with the machine plugged back in :)

QOD · 10/03/2011 20:54

Ha - But I don't want to set it back up again, it took me about an hour to get it in the box with the polystyrene wedges the right way

COME AND GET IT SHarp - please!

StarExpat · 10/03/2011 21:10

Ah see, I don't have the box and no time to get another with poorly toddler :(

QOD · 11/03/2011 17:19

If it's not picked up by Monday I am gonna keep it :D

QOD · 14/03/2011 18:50

14 days......... hmmmm I reckon I own it outright if they don't come soon!

I have had to bring it back into the house as it was piddling down - so it's mocking irritating me sat in the hall way

AnnMumsnet · 14/03/2011 18:54

Just so you know I have spoken with Gemma + I've asked her to make contact via PM with you directly.

StarExpat · 15/03/2011 20:23

No pm
No email
No one has collected
No note to say anyone has been here even
Still using it
What is taking them so long?

StarExpat · 15/03/2011 20:24

Not that I mind.

QOD · 15/03/2011 22:07

Nowt. I think I will just pretend I left it outside and the couriers came Wink

FannyFifer · 16/03/2011 13:54

Still not collected? Lol

DaftApeth · 23/03/2011 20:44

Has it gone yet?

QOD · 23/03/2011 20:59

Nope. I have had an email - on Mon or Tue. Told the lady when there is someone home but not heard back since.

StarExpat · 23/03/2011 21:01

They came today but I thought we were going to be contacted about the date they would come. So it's not in a box. We don't have a box. And dh was here alone as I have meetings on Wednesdays. So he asked the guy if it was the sharp machine he wanted and the guy said he didn't know so didn't want to take it if that wasn't it and DH is clueless to it all... but he wouldn't take it anyway without a package. !!!
Arghhhh. I wish I had known they were coming today. I would have instructed dh and tried to somehow wrap it. Ideas for packaging?

QOD · 23/03/2011 21:22

Oh ffs lol it's a shambles innit
Black sack? lots of parcel tape?

DaftApeth · 23/03/2011 21:42

Star, could you get some bubble wrap from somewhere? Our local Storage Company sell it from large rolls by the metre.

StarExpat · 24/03/2011 06:07

I looked at bubble wrap but I was surprisingly expensive. I'll get something together. I would have done for yesterday if I had known they were coming. Gemma had said to keep using it until action sorted so I hadn't packed it up as I hadn't heard when they would come

QOD · 24/03/2011 17:44

I still haven't heard any more
