You magazine eco columnist and editor of a Slice of Organic Life, Sheherazade Goldsmith, will be joining us for an online chat to share her green tips on Wednesday June 18th from 1-2pm. Sheharazade is an eco mum with three children under ten. She's launching the Peter Rabbit Naturally Better initiative which sees the well-loved Beatrix Potter creation become the first ever licensed character to go green.

Created in 1893, the naughty little rabbit is the oldest licensed children's character in the world and this new initiative reflects the importance that Beatrix Potter placed on the natural world and the environment.

If you can't make it on Weds, you can post your questions in advance here. Otherwise, we'll see you with your organic salads (home grown of course ) on weds lunchtime.

Is it eco friendly to be a millionaire?
I loved the Prada dress she was wearing in vogue, though.

Anchovy · 13/06/2008 14:44

How many flights do you take a year? Assuming you do fly, what criteria do you use for deciding whether the flight is necessary?

What are your best "eco" tips (I am unfeasibly proud of my blackberry being charged by solar power ) and what are areas in your life that you acknowledge still need work on?

CountessDracula · 13/06/2008 14:47

Do you think that now Sainbury's have won you will be shopping in their gleaming new White Hart Lane store? They do have an excellent organic range you know.
(local issue gals)

Twiglett · 13/06/2008 14:49

who ARE you?

CountessDracula · 13/06/2008 14:53

she is the wife of a wannabee Tory MP

CountessDracula · 13/06/2008 14:55

(in my constituency as it happens, which I sincerely hope will remain Lib Dem) (no offence sharonade or whatever your name is!)

CountessDracula · 13/06/2008 14:57

her wiki entry

MNHQ are you aware you have a bit of a typo in our esteemed guest's name btw

Twiglett · 13/06/2008 14:59

I am fairly certain that MNHQ have misspelt Sheherazade ... so, are you a pedant? does it bother you?

It'd bother me ... a lot

But then I'm a pedant and rather sad achooally

boudoiricca · 13/06/2008 15:00

Also, are they paying you a percentage per book sold or is it a one off fee? ;)

Twiglett · 13/06/2008 15:00

Would you ever consider trying to be totally green on a limited income .. say for a month? That would be an interesting exercise, seeing how someone who has always been in a fortunate position in life actually manages on an average wage in an average house

zippitippitoes · 13/06/2008 15:02

Linking licensed characters to food or green initiatives seems really nonsensical to me...the nature of licensing is promotion to sell more product relating to the character in the license, is that not the antithesis of what being green is about? Being green means selling less/buying less surely or don't you agree with that?

And when licensed characters are linked to products it makes them more expensive so is undesirable anyway wouldn't yoiu agree?

DarthVader · 13/06/2008 15:02

wife swap would be an obvious one to do
anyone volunteer to wife swap with Sheza?

NotABanana · 13/06/2008 15:03

This is going well.

Anchovy · 13/06/2008 15:06

Lazy reviewing of Wiki and I agree that it is a bit old but how does writing an article entitled "I'd rather shop till I drop" sit alongside green credentials?

DarthVader · 13/06/2008 15:09

Is anyone genuinely interested in advice this woman wishes to dispense on how to live a better life?

Twiglett · 13/06/2008 15:11

well Darth I think possibly that question should be moved to another thread

Marina · 13/06/2008 15:14

Yes, DarthVader, if any of it has the slightest connection with how the vast majority of Mners live

motherinferior · 13/06/2008 15:15

And comes from an informed perspective. I remain unconvinced on that in this particular case.

zippitippitoes · 13/06/2008 15:16

I am interested to know how she has reached the belief that she does lead a better life and whether that belief stands up to scrutiny

BeauLocks · 13/06/2008 15:18

What is an "eco mum"?

How do you become an "eco mum"?

Who decides if you're an "eco mum"?

Do you wake up one morning and think "I know, I think I'll become an eco mum"?

Is there a register of "eco mums"?

etc etc

SheikYerbouti · 13/06/2008 15:19

My word, this is going swimmingly isn't it?

How are the goats, shezza?

Can I call you Shezza? You can call me Sheiky if you like, I'm easy

Anna8888 · 13/06/2008 15:21
