Hello,

We’re pleased to announce a webchat with the leader of the Labour Party Jeremy Corbyn on Tuesday 30 May at midday.

Jeremy has been MP for Islington North since 1983, and has been Labour leader since 2015, having been re-elected when Owen Smith stood against him in 2016. Labour’s manifesto for the election on June 8 proposes ‘a Brexit deal that puts our economy and living standards first’, tax rises for the top 5% of earners, the renationalisation of the railways, free school meals for all primary pupils, the abolition of university tuition fees, and a £250 billion investment fund for infrastructure and the economy.

Please do join the chat on Tuesday at midday, or if you can’t make it, leave a question here in advance. Please do share the webchat on social - the more, the merrier!

As always, please remember our webchat guidelines - one question each, follow-ups if there’s time and please keep it civil .

(As we approach the General Election we will endeavour to offer you a balanced diet of webchats with politicians from different parties. More announcements coming soon.)

Thanks
MNHQ

Have you remembered being vice-chairman of CND yet?

Already posted my vote for you!

iloveeverykindofcat · 30/05/2017 12:32

I'm concerned about the propaganda campaign the Tories are running as YouTube ads. I'm a lecturer in media studies and YouTube is deeply influential with young people despite the fact it is now a corporate platform. What are Labour doing with social media to counteract this? I'm not seeing an effective counter strategy. You have my vote and my voice.

Here you go Jeremy, sugar free shortbread!
I think you would be better off with sugar than artificial sweeteners though

Thanks Mumsnet - I am running to catch a train and get a seat! Really sorry I couldn't stay longer. But please have a good look at For The Many, Not The Few, it's a rattling good read!

Will you look at insisting that all new housing has solar panels fitted as standard in future.

DoSpidersGetHeadaches · 30/05/2017 12:32

Hi Jeremy,
Thanks for taking part in this webchat and I can see you will be busy answering all these interesting questions. Just wanted to say: keep on keeping on! The Labour manifesto is helping to make more and more people aware of just what can be achieved - and I'm sure you can win an increasing number of votes if you continue along the line of giving such positive, realistic and firm answers to all the questions that people have (not that I'm an expert, or trying to teach anyone to suck eggs, of course!). All best wishes for the rest of the the campaign - you can do it! :)

exLtEveDallas · 30/05/2017 12:32

Hi Jeremy,

I have a question about HS2. What are your feelings on it? Would you be willing to scrap the idea and use the money saved in other more worthwhile areas?

Flipsticks · 30/05/2017 12:33

Well that was a wash out!

AfunaMbatata · 30/05/2017 12:33

What?! Is it over already?Shock

loonieleftie · 30/05/2017 12:33

Bye Jeremy!

Bluntness100 · 30/05/2017 12:33

Is that it? Hmm

horsemadmom · 30/05/2017 12:34

Mr. Corbyn,
As a British Jew, I am frightened that you are unconcerned and even encourage antisemitism amongst your follower. You and your friends actually frighten me. Will you renounce your 'friends' in Hamas, Hezbollah and the IRA? Will you finally understand that, like every other ethnic minority, Jews have the right to determine what is antisemitism?
The McPherson definition applies to us too.

AfunaMbatata · 30/05/2017 12:34

What the actual fuck?!

Charmageddon · 30/05/2017 12:34

Quelle Surprise.

Lots of good questions from MNers & you mostly picked the fluffy 'mummy' ones.

Very disappointed in you.

Toomuchocolate · 30/05/2017 12:34

Jeremy, how can you assure us that you have a strong party that will vote with you on important issues?

ssd · 30/05/2017 12:34

Hi Jeremy

I voted SNP before and at this election I'm voting labour, thanks to you.

Please don't give up.

DuncanDonut · 30/05/2017 12:34

Wow. That was.... unimpressive.

ChestnutsRoastingOnAnOpenFire · 30/05/2017 12:34

Rubbish, just responded to a few arse lick comments and off he went. Bye then, you won't get my vote.

Perfectplonker · 30/05/2017 12:34

There are a lot of posters on mn that are concerned with the cuts to disability payments, withholding diagnosis, and brutal assessments that don't take into account medical professionals views that is currently happening.

I know you could put a lot of minds at test (and probably win over a few floating voters) if you could answer one of the many questions on this thread about it.

Thanks

love you

Puzzledandpissedoff · 30/05/2017 12:34

I am running to catch a train and get a seat!

An unfortunate thing to have drawn attention to, perhaps ... ? Grin

Bubbleyfin · 30/05/2017 12:35

Well that was pointless

MrsLupo · 30/05/2017 12:36

Nooooo! Sad

Bluntness100 · 30/05/2017 12:36

Gosh, if that was it, I think he'd have been better not doing it. None of the serious questions addressed, started late, spent ages to answer on biscuits and jam and then a few non answers and game over..Confused

horsemadmom · 30/05/2017 12:36

Looks like the antisemitism question goes unanswered again.

Or, maybe, it was answered.
