We are incredibly thrilled that Julie Walters is coming in to Mumsnet Towers to join us for a webchat on Thursday 5th November (yep, TOMORROW.)

Fuelled by an unwavering passion for her craft and considered a national treasure, this superstar actress has blessed us with her talents for decades.

On Thursday we're lucky enough to have her full attention for one whole hour! Julie will be chatting about her new film BROOKLYN adapted from Colm Toibin's stunning novel of the same name as well as her quite frankly amazing career. You can ask her that burning question you've always dreamt of - so please join us on Thursday for the webchat, or post your question now!

BROOKLYN is the stunning period film stars Saoirse Ronan, Emory Cohen, Domhnall Gleeson, Julie Walters and Jim Broadbent. It follows the story of Eilis, a young woman who moves from small-town Ireland to Brooklyn, New York where she strives to forge a new life for herself, finding work and first love in the process. When a family tragedy brings her back to Ireland, she finds herself confronting a terrible dilemma - a heart-breaking choice between two men and two countries.

BROOKLYN is out in UK cinemas this Friday 6th November

Ohhhhh I absolutely love her. She's been a fantastic role model to my generation, bloody fantastic actress and all round good egg, I think.

Mrs Overall... Educating Rita... the 2 stand out performances imo Thanks

Can this be passed on to her please?

mollyonthemove · 04/11/2015 12:04

Gibber gibber gibber. I love Julie sooo much Can I ask her (re the new film) has she ever been in a two men choice situation? I have and it was bloody hard work Grin

SoleBizzzz · 04/11/2015 12:44

Hello to you Julie :)

yipeeeeeeee

TanteRose · 04/11/2015 12:44

How completely brilliant!!!
Will think of a question after I've stopped grinning like a loon GrinGrin

Badders123 · 04/11/2015 13:11

Oooooh!
Hello Julie.
Petula gordino from dinnerladies is probably my favourite character that you have played.

Is it possible for you to choose your favourite role from amongst your career?

ShowOfHands · 04/11/2015 13:27

Oh brilliant.

Julie, you are absolutely smashing. You have made me laugh and cry in equal measure. You know those 'fantasy dinner party guests' ordinary plebs have? You're one of mine. Only, I'm quite in awe of you so if you do rock up for a Sunday roast, I'll be blushing a lot and stuttering and while it would be torturous for anybody invited, it'd be the best night of my life. Actually, being a bit of a curmudgeon in real life, my fantasy dinner party involves me alone on the sofa with a gingerbread man, a cup of earl grey and the dinnerladies boxset on repeat.

In absence of anything worthy to ask, at the aforementioned fantasy dinner, would you prefer to sit next to Victoria Wood or Enjolras (the fictional revolutionary leader from Les Miserables)? It's important that I know this stuff for my seating plan.

Do you have your own fantasy dinner party guest list?

ShowOfHands · 04/11/2015 13:30

Badders, we love Petula too. In our house, we drop dinnerladies quotes into everyday conversation. It is, in my humble opinion, the most beautifully observed sitcom ever written/performed. It's so watchable. I re-watch it at least annually.

Badders123 · 04/11/2015 13:36

Show...i agree!
I have been known,when getting cross to say;
"Me cones out, me danders up...leave it!"
And when I can't find something i say
"Has anybody seen my Clint?"
Smile
Childish... but it makes me happy
Grin

ShowOfBloodyStumps · 04/11/2015 13:42

Would this be a good moment to talk about Scottish country dancing?

As Gerard Depardieu said to me that day in Deville "What's the point in having a big nose if you can't jam a banana up it?"

Do excuse me, I man a helpline at midnight.

I could go on and on and on and on. It's so quotable.

Badders123 · 04/11/2015 13:56
Grin I haven't got the pelvis for a futon
mollyonthemove · 04/11/2015 14:03

I'm so terribly sad, I do the 'soup?' sketch every time I walk into a room carrying a tray Blush

ShowOfBloodyStumps · 04/11/2015 14:04

I've already had three near death experiences. Do you remember Bren? Oh, no, you weren't there. The last one there was a light at the end of a long, dark passage and Dusty Springfield was beckoning to me with a lovely smile....turned out i'd passed out in the Mersey Tunnel with a drag act.

ShowOfBloodyStumps · 04/11/2015 14:06

I want them to do a Christmas special of dinnerladies. Petula can be the ghost of Christmas past. If Victoria's busy, I'm sure Badders and I can write it.

Any chance Julie?

Badders123 · 04/11/2015 14:07
Grin I think we may be derailing the thread....
ShowOfBloodyStumps · 04/11/2015 14:09

Nah, we're like a tribute act. Grin Face it, I'm more and more like Petula as the days pass. May as well embrace it. I'm a bit giddy that JULIE ACTUAL WALTERS is coming to grace us with her presence.

Badders123 · 04/11/2015 14:13

Me too!!!Smile

NotTheSpiceOfLife · 04/11/2015 14:18

DivaDroid · 04/11/2015 14:20

Wow! One of my favourite actors! I've loved everything I've seen you in. I must think of an intelligent question now.

Shakey15000 · 04/11/2015 14:24

EDUCATING RITA (hopefully grabs attention!)

Hi Julie

Can I ask if you look back fondly to this role? I played Rita on stage about 20 years ago and at that point, hadn't seen your film version. I refused to watch it before as I didn't want to be influenced by your performance! As it happened we had a different approach Grin

RhubarbRhubarbRhubarb · 04/11/2015 14:53

Hi Julie,

Its hard to ask you just one question so I'll risk two. You're so wonderful to watch and I've loved so many of the characters you've brought to life.

Is there a character you have a hankering to play?

Also, have you seen any dramatic improvement in how women are treated in your industry? Is it getting better?

Thanks!

NotTheSpiceOfLife · 04/11/2015 15:20

Rita makes me cry. That's Willy Russell for you!

She'll Be Wearing Pink Pyjamas. Another brilliant role, quite underrated I think!

Badders123 · 04/11/2015 15:38

Oh god, were the questions supposed to be intelligent?

NotTheSpiceOfLife · 04/11/2015 16:05

Bloody hope not! I can't see Julie being a massive fan of sensible tbh Grin

NotTheSpiceOfLife · 04/11/2015 16:06

Ooh you said intelligent. Shit.

Cocolepew · 04/11/2015 16:28

Oh wow, how cool .
Mrs Overall makes me howl with laughter without opening her mouth Grin
