We are incredibly thrilled that Julie Walters is coming in to Mumsnet Towers to join us for a webchat on Thursday 5th November (yep, TOMORROW.)

Fuelled by an unwavering passion for her craft and considered a national treasure, this superstar actress has blessed us with her talents for decades.

On Thursday we're lucky enough to have her full attention for one whole hour! Julie will be chatting about her new film BROOKLYN adapted from Colm Toibin's stunning novel of the same name as well as her quite frankly amazing career. You can ask her that burning question you've always dreamt of - so please join us on Thursday for the webchat, or post your question now!

BROOKLYN is the stunning period film stars Saoirse Ronan, Emory Cohen, Domhnall Gleeson, Julie Walters and Jim Broadbent. It follows the story of Eilis, a young woman who moves from small-town Ireland to Brooklyn, New York where she strives to forge a new life for herself, finding work and first love in the process. When a family tragedy brings her back to Ireland, she finds herself confronting a terrible dilemma - a heart-breaking choice between two men and two countries.

BROOKLYN is out in UK cinemas this Friday 6th November

Hi Julie

I was interested to read your comments about the acting profession becoming the preserve of the wealthy due to funding issues. What would you like to see being done to address this? And how would you try to convince politicians that this is an issue which is just as important as other current social problems?

WhoremoaneeGrainger · 04/11/2015 17:55

Hi Julie,

Like many others here, a huge fan of your work. DD (dear daughter, just in case you are not a Mumsnetter) would like to ask whether you would reprise your role as Mrs Weasley, should there ever be another Harry Potter film, and also if all the Weasley children were as lovely in real life as they seem to be in the films?

My question would have to be:

How much fun was Mamma Mia to make, because it looks like you had a blast?

hudyerwheesht · 04/11/2015 18:47

Hi Julie,

I read once that you said that after Educating Rita women would come up to you and say that they had found the guts to leave their husband because of Rita.

Is that true, and if so, how did that make you feel? Does it still happen?!

mrsbabookaloo · 04/11/2015 19:27

MNHQ please fix the fact that Julie Walters' name is misspelt twice on the front page of the site.

wannabestressfree · 04/11/2015 19:31

True acting royalty :) I found the programme about you so interesting and how you had struggled to become an actor, your upbringing etc .

I love all your work (sad English teacher here) and thought you were brilliant in Billy Elliot -'miss aren't you a bit old for the ballet'?

Just wanted to say your one of the people I discuss with my students as a 'look where perseverance and real talent can get you'.....

wannabestressfree · 04/11/2015 19:33

Forgot the bloody question... Which piece of work do you think your parents would be most proud of?

GwynethPaltrowIamNot · 04/11/2015 19:47

What's the best advice you've been given and not acted on ?

Tapirs · 04/11/2015 20:23

You're a legend in this house. And a lifesaver on You Tube when DS3 (14 and an eyeroller) is feeling miserable. Hens in the skirting never fails to make us laugh - it's the physicality as well as the words. Brilliant.

Shnook · 04/11/2015 21:20

Julie - one of my favourite actresses of all time, such a natural performer and so funny. I watch anything you're in.

I've always wanted to act but like an idiot, was too scared to go for it at school, thinking I had to do 'academic' subjects instead and too embarrassed to admit it when I was older. Now in my mid 30s, I've realised that there is nothing I would love to do more. What advice would you give to someone like me with no experience and who is a bit put-off by the OTT, jazz hands style theatre type of drama??

NotTheSpiceOfLife · 04/11/2015 22:22

Pat and Margaret... Another brilliant piece of work.

Weloveoptimus · 05/11/2015 09:22

Hello Julie
Do you like doing stuff like this (answering questions on the net) or do you prefer face to face questions?
Is this weird and pressured because it's 'live'

How many takes did it take to do the 'two soups' scene?

We love you in our house. Thanks so much for the pleasure you bring with your work xxx
From Jane

DrasticAction · 05/11/2015 10:29

No Questions, I just wanted to say how much I have loved and enjoyed your performances on TV and in film over the years, you bring a unique vibrancy and zest for life to the parts you play.

Rita from Educating Rita convinced me to go to uni, thanks!

Helmetbymidnight · 05/11/2015 11:11

Ah Brooklyn - a real tear-jerker, I look forward to seeing that.

Watched Mama Mia again with the kids at the weekend. You were so fab and funny (as usual) in that. Can't think of a good question but how did you get along with Stellan Skaarsgard...and the others?

comeagainforbigfudge · 05/11/2015 11:24

Whenever you are on the Graham Norton show, you look like you are thoroughly enjoying yourself (although you could be acting obviously).

Do you enjoy giving interviews (including web chats Wink) or are they a necessary evil that must be "got through?

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 05/11/2015 11:28

I haven't got a question, I just want to tell Julie that I think she's brilliant. Educating Rita is one of my all time favourites and I loved all the stuff with Victoria Wood too.

There was a documentary on the other month about Julie and it was so good, I watched it twice!

Can't wait to read this later on!

NotTheSpiceOfLife · 05/11/2015 11:34

I've seen that documentary as well!

Badders123 · 05/11/2015 12:56

Right...I've wracked my poor perimenopausal old brain and come up.with this..
Julie...with the lack of funding for the arts now, what is your best advice for working class kids who cant access stage schools or university who want to get into acting/writing/producing?

Powaqa · 05/11/2015 12:59

I think you're bostin

What has been your most favourite role and was there one that got away that you would loved to have played?

OverScentedFanjo · 05/11/2015 13:00

Julie Walters you are amazing. Always make me laugh.

Love Dinnerladies, it looked like you had so much fun filming.

what was it like filming "Who do you think you are?" It was a gripping and sad story.

Also as no one else has asked yet....."what's your favourite biscuit?"

RachelMumsnet · 05/11/2015 13:10

Julie is here and just having a couple of photos taken before. She'll be ready to answer your questions in a few minutes...

Julie "Legend" Walters! Hello!

Right off the bat...Menopause.
I don't mince my words.

Any top tips to get through it?

(like Badders above, I'm def in perimeno territory)

stareatthetvscreen · 05/11/2015 13:15

i love everything that you and victoria wood have done together

are you best friends in real life? :)

who starts giggling first when you are filming ?

PirateSmile · 05/11/2015 13:15

Hi Julie,

It's wonderful that you're chatting to us. I've always been a great fan of yours and I particularly love your Rita. Sadly I never got the chance to see the original production (although I have of course seen the film) but I did see the recent Liverpool Everyman production with Lianne Best and she was brilliant.

My question is would you ever consider returning to the Everyman stage? Have you revisited since it's been rebuilt? It's a fantastic theatre and it would be a huge honour for the city to have you back.

RachelMumsnet · 05/11/2015 13:17

We're honoured that Julie is here to answer your questions today and send out a big warm welcome to Mumsnet. Over to you Julie...
