We are incredibly thrilled that Julie Walters is coming in to Mumsnet Towers to join us for a webchat on Thursday 5th November (yep, TOMORROW.)

Fuelled by an unwavering passion for her craft and considered a national treasure, this superstar actress has blessed us with her talents for decades.

On Thursday we're lucky enough to have her full attention for one whole hour! Julie will be chatting about her new film BROOKLYN adapted from Colm Toibin's stunning novel of the same name as well as her quite frankly amazing career. You can ask her that burning question you've always dreamt of - so please join us on Thursday for the webchat, or post your question now!

BROOKLYN is the stunning period film stars Saoirse Ronan, Emory Cohen, Domhnall Gleeson, Julie Walters and Jim Broadbent. It follows the story of Eilis, a young woman who moves from small-town Ireland to Brooklyn, New York where she strives to forge a new life for herself, finding work and first love in the process. When a family tragedy brings her back to Ireland, she finds herself confronting a terrible dilemma - a heart-breaking choice between two men and two countries.

BROOKLYN is out in UK cinemas this Friday 6th November

@consentorderwoes

Hi Julie,

Massive fan of all you have done, you never fail to make me laugh/cry all when you're supposed to Wink Educating Rita is an all time favourite.

Was Mamma Mia as much as a laugh to film as it looked?

Also, cheeky but can you say a very quick Happy Birthday to my sister who is a big fan? Blush Blush

Happy birthday to your sister!

Mamma Mia was fun but probably not as much fun as it looks in the film as dancing and singing are hard work, especially for me! But once we got to Greece it was wonderful.

Hi Julie,

Like many others here, a huge fan of your work. DD (dear daughter, just in case you are not a Mumsnetter) would like to ask whether you would reprise your role as Mrs Weasley, should there ever be another Harry Potter film, and also if all the Weasley children were as lovely in real life as they seem to be in the films?

My question would have to be:

How much fun was Mamma Mia to make, because it looks like you had a blast?

Yes, of course I would reprise the role. They are all lovely kids, oh actually they are grown up now! They felt like my other family.

Oh yes, harry potter! My 9 year old molly is in awe of you too, mainly for the character's name Grin

Hi Julie,

I read once that you said that after Educating Rita women would come up to you and say that they had found the guts to leave their husband because of Rita.

Is that true, and if so, how did that make you feel? Does it still happen?!

It's happened a couple of times, that people have said that, but not recently. More often it's that people say that they went to university because of the film.

Hello Julie Huge fan of yours Smile Here are a few questions - obviously you don't have to answer them all!

Is there a book you'd love to see made into a film?

When filming Harry Potter, did JK Rowling let the cast in on any secrets about how the series was going end - and if so, how did you manage to keep them?

Which role have you found the most physically or emotionally challenging?

If you could give your teenage self one piece of advice, what would it be?

TanteRose · 05/11/2015 13:44

loads of time left, so can I chance another question?

you mentioned how you loved Greece, but is there a country you haven't been to and would love to go?

JulieWalters · 05/11/2015 13:45

@mollyonthemove

I'm so terribly sad, I do the 'soup?' sketch every time I walk into a room carrying a tray Blush

That must be annoying for everyone! Grin

Hi Julie, I am a huge fan of you and victoria wood.

I would like to ask - some of your funniest work with vw is often forgotten. I'm thinking of the 6 episode series which had a different situation each week, eg health farm, tv studio, camping. I loved your role as Nicola in the health farm one and as pam the snotty tv presenter. Why is this series so little remembered?

LizzyGem · 05/11/2015 13:47

I adored Colm's novel Brooklyn and have read it cover to cover a number of times, I can't wait to watch it on the big screen this weekend and see you play the role of the fantastic Mrs Kehoe! I'm a huge fan - what's next for you? Great to see you on here Julie! Star

No, we never knew how any of the other books would end! Some of us would rush out and get the book when it came out to see if our character died!

Physically: Mrs Wilkinson in Billy Elliot. Emotionally: Dr Anne Turner in Short Stay in Switzerland.

My one piece of advice would be: 'it's going to be alright'.

@ElviraCondomine

Hi Julie

I was interested to read your comments about the acting profession becoming the preserve of the wealthy due to funding issues. What would you like to see being done to address this? And how would you try to convince politicians that this is an issue which is just as important as other current social problems?

This question really needs an essay to answer it but in short: I think tuition fees are very troubling and for a working class kid, impossible really. So I guess that's what needs to be addressed.

We need to be open about it and we need to keep talking about it so that politicians can understand the mood of the people.

No Questions, I just wanted to say how much I have loved and enjoyed your performances on TV and in film over the years, you bring a unique vibrancy and zest for life to the parts you play.

Rita from Educating Rita convinced me to go to uni, thanks!

That warms my heart to hear that! Thanks for your kind words.

@comeagainforbigfudge

Whenever you are on the Graham Norton show, you look like you are thoroughly enjoying yourself (although you could be acting obviously).

Do you enjoy giving interviews (including web chats Wink) or are they a necessary evil that must be "got through?

It depends on who you're on with but it's always a bit of a party with Graham Norton! He's lovely and he's exactly as you'd imagine him to be.

Julie Walters you are amazing. Always make me laugh.

Love Dinnerladies, it looked like you had so much fun filming.

what was it like filming "Who do you think you are?" It was a gripping and sad story.

Also as no one else has asked yet....."what's your favourite biscuit?"

I loved filming "Who do you think you are". You genuinely don't know what on earth they are going to come up with. So it was a rollercoaster ride but probably one of the most important things I've ever done.
