We are incredibly thrilled that Julie Walters is coming in to Mumsnet Towers to join us for a webchat on Thursday 5th November (yep, TOMORROW.)

Fuelled by an unwavering passion for her craft and considered a national treasure, this superstar actress has blessed us with her talents for decades.

On Thursday we're lucky enough to have her full attention for one whole hour! Julie will be chatting about her new film BROOKLYN adapted from Colm Toibin's stunning novel of the same name as well as her quite frankly amazing career. You can ask her that burning question you've always dreamt of - so please join us on Thursday for the webchat, or post your question now!

BROOKLYN is the stunning period film stars Saoirse Ronan, Emory Cohen, Domhnall Gleeson, Julie Walters and Jim Broadbent. It follows the story of Eilis, a young woman who moves from small-town Ireland to Brooklyn, New York where she strives to forge a new life for herself, finding work and first love in the process. When a family tragedy brings her back to Ireland, she finds herself confronting a terrible dilemma - a heart-breaking choice between two men and two countries.

BROOKLYN is out in UK cinemas this Friday 6th November

@comeagainforbigfudge

Whenever you are on the Graham Norton show, you look like you are thoroughly enjoying yourself (although you could be acting obviously).

Do you enjoy giving interviews (including web chats Wink) or are they a necessary evil that must be "got through?

To answer your second question: Some interviews are a necessary evil - obviously not Mumsnet! Because you are on your guard as to what angle the journalist might be taking so that can be a strain. I feel very protective of my family as they're not in the business like me.

Hi Julie!

Glad I didn't miss this! I wanted to know, was there one particular person who inspired you to start acting?

JulieWalters · 05/11/2015 14:07

@Tapirs

Have I remembered right - that you live on a farm? How do you manage to balance 2 such different ways of life?

It's what keeps me sane. The peace and quiet and the otherness of that life is a great rest from work. It's like going home to the Archers every night!

Probably my brother. He was the one who encouraged me. And a dreadful old nun in my primary school.

Thank you! I still have a dog eared copy of the book you wrote about Maisie's birth - We called our first daughter Maisie in 1990 when it was really uncommon.

Julie - thanks so much for doing this, you are amazing. Pat and Margaret has been mentioned above and is one of my favourite Wood/Walters collaborations. If you were doing a sequel now, where do you think the characters would be?

KimmySchmidty · 05/11/2015 14:11

Hi Julie, what accent do you most like listening too? And what's your favourite one to perform?

I loved your appearance on "Who do you think you are?", particularly because my family are also from Mayo, do you ever visit?

JulieWalters · 05/11/2015 14:12

@Shnook

Julie - one of my favourite actresses of all time, such a natural performer and so funny. I watch anything you're in.

I've always wanted to act but like an idiot, was too scared to go for it at school, thinking I had to do 'academic' subjects instead and too embarrassed to admit it when I was older. Now in my mid 30s, I've realised that there is nothing I would love to do more. What advice would you give to someone like me with no experience and who is a bit put-off by the OTT, jazz hands style theatre type of drama??

Be brave and either apply to drama school or a university drama course and if you get in, see how you feel then. Or find a good amateur dramatic club.

I would now be the age of a lot of the characters I was playing then!

My favourite accent to perform is the Irish accent - so Brooklyn was a dream! My favourite to listen to is either Geordie or Welsh.

I think Mayo is utterly beautiful, I have to say.

Thanks for all your questions - some of which I've never been asked before! I can't say that for 99% of journalists Smile

I hope you'll all go and see Brooklyn, it's a gorgeous, heart-warming film!

Lots of love,

Julie x
