Jillian Michaels is joining us at Mumsnet HQ for a webchat on Thursday 15 January from 1-2pm. For those who are unfamiliar with Jillian, she’s one of the world's most successful health and fitness personalities; star of Channel 4's The Biggest Loser and 15 fitness DVDs (including MN fave 30 Day Shred), as well as several best-selling books. Her Jillian Michaels Show podcast has garnered millions of listeners since its debut in 2011.

With such a die-hard crew of shredders, rippers and JM devotees here, Jillian has long been on our hit-list of webchat guests and we're delighted we're finally able to offer the opportunity to chat with her. Join us on Thursday at 1pm or post a question for Jillian on this thread in advance and we'll put your questions to her on Thursday.

Jillian is over in the UK with her critically acclaimed Maximize Your Life motivational tour, which has already taken the US by storm. The nine-city live event begins on 18 January in Glasgow and ends on 28 January in London. Find out more and buy tickets here.

mimishimmi I too have problems with my left knee, I saw a physiotherapist last year who identified a weekness in my right knee, 6 weeks of doing recommended knee strengthing exercises solved my problem 100%, zero pain, I could not believe it, it felt a miracle had been performed. Come 1st January, weighted hula hooping is to be my new exercise and pow after one week of hula hooping my knee was in so much pain, worse than last year, couldn't even kneel. A docs appointment is another week away and a physio referral will be even longer so I did my own research and this is what I found...Iliotibial band syndrome. I found stretching exercises on YouTube and I kid you not, I have repeated the stretches twice a day, every day for the last 7 and it has eradicated all the pain bar the tiniest twinge which at this rate I estimate will be gone within the next 3 days, I can kneel again. I have decided to make the stretches and knee strengthening exercises a daily feature. Will I hula again? I'll give it go when the pain is totally gone, just as an experiment. Good luck, see what you think.

I only just found about this. Looked on Amazon for the DVD's - their are loads. Any recommendations on a good one to start with? I do have a weak back, and bersitus in my hips and knees, killed by zumba. Sad

30 Day Shred seems to be the most common starting point, it's the only one I've done!

AmazonGrace · 16/01/2015 23:54

I've done stage 1 and 2 of the shred, Davina's Fit in 15 and I'm going to try her new 7 min workout DVD. I enjoyed doing both!

ScienceRocks · 17/01/2015 01:00

Shanna, body revolution starts at a lower level than the shred, so that may be a better starting point.
