Jillian Michaels is joining us at Mumsnet HQ for a webchat on Thursday 15 January from 1-2pm. For those who are unfamiliar with Jillian, she’s one of the world's most successful health and fitness personalities; star of Channel 4's The Biggest Loser and 15 fitness DVDs (including MN fave 30 Day Shred), as well as several best-selling books. Her Jillian Michaels Show podcast has garnered millions of listeners since its debut in 2011.

With such a die-hard crew of shredders, rippers and JM devotees here, Jillian has long been on our hit-list of webchat guests and we're delighted we're finally able to offer the opportunity to chat with her. Join us on Thursday at 1pm or post a question for Jillian on this thread in advance and we'll put your questions to her on Thursday.

Jillian is over in the UK with her critically acclaimed Maximize Your Life motivational tour, which has already taken the US by storm. The nine-city live event begins on 18 January in Glasgow and ends on 28 January in London. Find out more and buy tickets here.

Lindt70Percent · 15/01/2015 14:14

I was a bit late to the chat but have read Jillian's replies to everyone else. Inspiring!

JillianMichaels · 15/01/2015 14:15

Wow, we really do feel the love here at MumsnetTowers. What a fabulous webchat. Great news is that Jillian had 'a blast' [quote from visitor's book] and would love to do another webchat in the future, so we'll keep you posted on this.

If you're interested in going along to see Jillian and hear more at her Maximise Your Life tour, find out about venues and times and book tickets here.

TakeMeUpTheNorthMountain · 15/01/2015 14:15

I think this may be the first webchat Ive ever seen where everyone was in consensus about how great the guest is!!!

okitoki · 15/01/2015 14:16

Thank you for answering my question Jillian.

I really enjoyed, understood and appreciated your responses to everyone's questions.

MinginInTheRain · 15/01/2015 14:16

Gah!! I missed her!!

Ok so quick scan shows she didn't answer my question about c section pooch - did she give any good tips for that though??

ZingTheGreat · 15/01/2015 14:18

who is posing as JM now? Grin

ElphabaTheGreen · 15/01/2015 14:18

Several people asked the same question Mingin and Jillian's response was, basically, 'Who cares? You have a child. Wear it as your badge of honour.' Smile

MinginInTheRain · 15/01/2015 14:27

Thanks Elphaba - yeah badge of honour and all that but I still want to get rid of the damn thing. Is that so bad? Grin

Cocolepew · 15/01/2015 14:29

What great answers, she's fabulous
I 've had the Shred unopened for a year

ElphabaTheGreen · 15/01/2015 14:32

Well, since she's gone, I did find a mix of Pilates and cardio helped after my first c-section, but it's pretty immovable following my second. A lot of it is scar tissue and surgical re-shaping of the underlying structures, and there's not a thing you can do about that.

miserableatwork · 15/01/2015 14:34

Oh no, have I missed her!! I chuffing love JM!! I often half joke that I would leave my husband if she gave me the nod ;)
Can I just ask one thing if she is still loitering....I saw you are doing a motivational talk around the UK. I am absolutely gutted at the price being charged, it has certainly outpriced me from being able to go (I was also looking at the VIP experience, no way I could afford that and dh wouldn't get it me for xmas.......meany). Is there any way you could make it more affordable for average folk to help as many people as you can?

Jillian's answer to OliviaMumsnet gave a bit if advice on tackling a tummy, but I still think her original answers were best

Hi Jillian,u r truly the bestest!your workouts are amazing!
I tried the 30 days shred 2 years ago but i chickened out after 5 days even though i used to work out before getting married (which was 2.5 yrs ago). Anyway so now im a mother of a 3months old baby girl. Is it ok to start it again?or is it too soon?ill b so grateful for ur guidance. Thanx

ElphabaTheGreen · 15/01/2015 14:53

Downstairs I used to do a huge amount of dancing so I did a lot of proper, one-to-one studio-based Pilates when I was younger, so I can now get away with a DVD. If you've not done Pilates before, I'd really recommend going to a proper studio.

She's gone firstmom Sad If you had a normal delivery, you should be OK to start. I had a section and resumed 30 Day Shred around 14 weeks post, substituting all the high impact moves for low until I felt up to doing them. I found I was generally very sore all over from the pregnancy (and I'm EBFing which is supposed to make relaxin take longer to subside) rather than the method of delivery so maybe you'd be better off starting low impact as well?

Blush that was me. Just spotted that I'd failed to log out as Jillian (I was logged in as her to help with the typing). Apologies for confusion.

What a lovely webchat!

Didn't she seem nice? Smile

I feel bizarrely chuffed that she was as as good as she was.

LadyIsabellaWrotham · 15/01/2015 21:19

Me too BalloonSlayer. The shredders have been asking for a webchat with her for years and years. It would have been awful if she'd been a letdown, really bland or patronising, so it's such a relief that she lived up to our high expectations.

So sorry I missed this. I hadn't checked Mumsnet for a few weeks. I lost about twelve pounds last year in four months just doing Ripped in 30 and 6 week 6 Pack getting me to the middle of the healthy range for my BMI (it was right at the cusp of being overweight). My main motivation was for a dance concert in November. More impressively though, my bodyfat % went from 33% to 23% which I've been able to maintain since then and have got down to 22%. Previously I had been able to lose some weight but not really shift my bodyfat % or waist size - I would lose weight and actually look even more pregnant because the rest of me was smaller . Doing JM's dvd's my waist size went from almost 32 inches to 28. Three weeks ago I started Body Revolution and am definitely noticing increased definition.

My question would have been about plantar fascitis. I've developed a bit of it on my left foot since starting the DVD's and would have really appreciated JM's advice on that.

Wonderful answers, thoughtful and compassionate. Smile
