It's not often we get Hollywood glamour gracing Mumsnet Towers but we're rolling the red carpet out on Monday lunchtime, 5 March, when we're joined by Goldie Hawn.

Her legendary Hollywood roles include Private Benjamin, The First Wives Club and Death Becomes Her. Her performance in the 1969 film, Cactus Flower, won her an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress.

Goldie is visiting the UK to promote her book, 10 Mindful Minutes, and the launch of The Hawn Foundation in the UK.

The foundation has developed the MindUP programme to help children reach their full potential and aims to teach children how their minds work and how their thoughts and feelings affect their behaviour. The programme has been implemented in schools in the United States, Canada, Australia and, more recently, the UK.

Chat to Goldie live from 1-2pm on Monday 5 March, or post your question in advance here.

Thanks

How do you get your hair to look so bouncy and shiny when most women your age are sporting the brillo pad look?

LineRunner · 02/03/2012 21:21

I wonder which question she will answer? (a) How do you get your hair so shiny; or (b) What is the evidence base for the effectiveness your self-named Foundtion?

noddyholder · 02/03/2012 21:23
Wink
LineRunner · 02/03/2012 21:25

(I hope GeraldineMumsnet will explain the whole British sense of humour thing to Goldie in advance.)

Will bugger off back to the drunk thread

As you were Goldie x

GetOrfMoiiLand · 02/03/2012 21:47

I love her.

LOVE her.

Private Benjamin is one of my all time favourite films. I even went into an army careers office once, inspired by that film. Thankfully, for me and the armed forces, I didn't join up.

I think Gldie comes across as very charming and lovely (funnily enough loads of us said so on another thread this week).

scottishmummy · 02/03/2012 21:48

I'm at work mon, can't participate but will catch up later

NaughtyMrChicken · 02/03/2012 21:49

GetOrfMoiiLand · 02/03/2012 21:50

I am also at work Mondya unfortunately but will read later.

'Goldie Hawn is arguably the most influential happiness expert of our time.'

LineRunner · 02/03/2012 22:03

arguably

scottishmummy · 02/03/2012 22:08

i recommend you read Dr Ben goldacre, Goldie

how does one become expert in making others happy

what clinical scale are you measuring "happiness " against given up its notoriously difficult to capture or measure objectively

noddyholder · 02/03/2012 22:25

It is impossible to make anyone happy You can encourage people to pursue things which lead them there but as those things are different for everyone it is a minefield. Some people just are happy

PoohBearsHole · 02/03/2012 22:51

I have no question.

Well I do but I don't think it will get picked Sad

Its my birthday, can Goldie say Happy Birthday?

Please?

P.s Private Benjamin, quite possibly my most favourite film ever. I thought it was the naughtiest film when I was a child but loved it, I loved it as a teenager and I loved it when I left school, I loved it at university and then when I moved to London on my own and can't believe I introduced it to my husband who had never ever seen it!!!!!! So fancied the French bloke.

And The Duchess and Dirtwater Fox...........
And The First Wives Club - kickass. Totally Kickass.

And I guess the question most asked, why haven't you and Kurt ever married? Is this part of the success to your relationship?

Actually MN Towers, can I just come and sit on the doorstep? (Or your autograph Grin)

caramelwaffle · 02/03/2012 23:09

Goldie Hawn?

Fantastic Smile

MmeLindor. · 02/03/2012 23:26

Hello, and welcome to MN.

I just googled "Goldie Hawn" and came across website after website with pictures and details from your life.

Is it possible to be truly happy when you have the world press constantly following you around and taking photos even of private moments of your life?

And how do you cope knowing that anyone you come into contact with can traipse off to the press with their story, which they can then twist and embellish as they wish?

LovesBeingWearingSkinnyJeans · 02/03/2012 23:49

hellloooo Goldie

Another huge fan right from one of my earlest film memories of Private Benjamin Grin

My question is which role would you have loved to have been yours ? Xxxcccc

OrkaLiely · 02/03/2012 23:50

"Goldie revealed she never asks about her partner of 22 years, KURT RUSSELL's infidelities.

She added, "It's just the way I try and keep myself feeling happy because otherwise we're going to be feeling miserable all the time because women's relationships with other men, and the way they get turned on, is quite different. It's much more personal, it's more sensitive.

"Frankly, how would you like it, as women, to have testosterone running through your body every day; walking out and having to deal with this every day when they don't have control."

Please, Goldie, don't pass your tips for being happy onto our children.

LottieJenkins · 03/03/2012 06:56

Hi Goldie. My late husband was one of your biggest fans. His fave scene from a film of yours was Bird On A Wire. The scene when you are climbing up a ladder and Mel Gibson asks how long you have been wearing knickers?? ShockGrin

ILoveAFullFridge · 03/03/2012 07:43

ILoveAFullFridge · 03/03/2012 07:49

(Aww 6luddy iPhone!)

Teaching my children how to connect their thoughts, feelings and behaviour has been uppermost in my mind for the past few months. How to help them learn happiness skills, too. These are things that I have only recently begun to discover for myself, through CBT. But I have no idea how to teach them to my dc - more to the point, how to model them for my dc.

Not a question, just an interested comment.

Also loved Private Benjamin, BTW.

scrappydappydoo · 03/03/2012 08:18

Hi Goldie,
So many questions but if I was to pick one...

Could you tell me what is exactly taught in mindup lessons - I'm intrigued as to how you teach children 'how their minds work and how their thoughts and feelings affect their behaviour'. A quick google suggests a form buddhist meditation is this corrrect?
