It's not often we get Hollywood glamour gracing Mumsnet Towers but we're rolling the red carpet out on Monday lunchtime, 5 March, when we're joined by Goldie Hawn.

Her legendary Hollywood roles include Private Benjamin, The First Wives Club and Death Becomes Her. Her performance in the 1969 film, Cactus Flower, won her an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress.

Goldie is visiting the UK to promote her book, 10 Mindful Minutes, and the launch of The Hawn Foundation in the UK.

The foundation has developed the MindUP programme to help children reach their full potential and aims to teach children how their minds work and how their thoughts and feelings affect their behaviour. The programme has been implemented in schools in the United States, Canada, Australia and, more recently, the UK.

Chat to Goldie live from 1-2pm on Monday 5 March, or post your question in advance here.

Thanks

@OrenIshi

Goldie (that doesn't sound right without the Horwe bit!). I think you need to complain to Mumsnet about the photo they have posted of you on our website letting us know about this wonderful meeting.

It's a photo of you from about 20 years ago. Why did they do that?? We love you now and we want to see you now. We are all roughly between the wonderful ages of 22 and a half and 70 here.

PS My son thought I said your name was Goldie Horn.

This is the photo that the PR for Goldie supplied. We'll be putting up a new photo of Goldie at MumsnetTowers later today.

Hello!
Here is my question: Do you ever forget to be mindful and throw a plate at someone's head?

RebeccaMumsnet · 05/03/2012 11:24

Hi all,

Can we please remind folks of our webchat guidelines, please do have a read.

Many thanks

MNHQ

Hi Goldie, Welcome to the UK. Smile

I have ordered your book on Amazon and look forward to reading it. As a yoga teacher and mother I know that meditation and mindfulness can play a big part in the health and wellbeing of our lives. I had terrible anxiety when going through the menopause and I can honestly say it has helped me through it. I know of at least four children who are suffering with panic attacks/anxiety at the moment so think any kind of program to implement help with this in schools is a good thing.

Do you practice yoga? Who is your teacher? :-)

YuleingFanjo · 05/03/2012 12:04

helloooo Goldie. I love you. Can't stay for the chat but just saying 'hi' and when I was a kid Private Benjamin was (and to be honsest still is) one of my favourite ever films. x

nenevomito · 05/03/2012 12:14

Right, got my pants back on in time.

My question is - how does your programme address the needs of kids who have poor theory of mind, such as those with Aspergers or ASD so they can access the course in the same way as NT children.

Honeydragon · 05/03/2012 12:26

You are in relationship with someone working in the same industry as you. Only a industry that certainly favours older men and is somewhat dismissive of the mature woman.

Does this mean you notice the difference more in the roles that you are both offered? Do you think it is fair? ie a man can be an action hero well into his 50's, not so much an option for women?

Alphafemale · 05/03/2012 12:26

Sorry if I'm repeating, but are you sure you and Kurt won't ever get married?

Hello Goldie! Am a big fan. You're very good at your job.
You work in an industry that puts a huge pressure on looks, and is scared to its back teeth of the ageing process. Do you feel that you are contributing to this problem as a woman of a certain age who's trying (and succeeding) to look younger? I think it would be very nice to see a woman with a few wrinkles and some white hair on our screens!

Thanks Goldie.

OMG, Goldie Hawn!!!

I have two questions if that's okay?

1: Goldie, you are a successful businesswoman. What advice would you give to other women hoping to rise to the top of their fields?

2: People percieve you as a 'dizzy blonde' due to the types of roles you take on. Do you think you will take on more serious, dramatic, roles?

I'm not good at wording my questions lol

MonicamumtoRyanDec08 · 05/03/2012 12:52

My question for Ms Hawn: Hi and welcome to the UK, I hope the mumsnetters do not give you too hard a time as they can be quite harsh at times. Thank you for raising the issue of happiness and mental health in kids. It is by teaching kids to take a positive approach to life that we can hope that they will be happier adults in the future and hopefully avoid the therapists, depression medication and so on that so many people in the UK and the USA are on. How do we make schools and institutions to take this issue seriously and to implement some measures to make this work? I find that some schools and pre-schools just want kids who are like robots. How can we teach kids to be happy if we confine them to overcrowded classrooms with the same day in, day out routine (30 kids in a class at primary school is the norm around London)? I am starting to believe that homeschooling might be a better option for my kid as there is no guarantee that any of these schools will give my kid the kind of individual attention a child his age needs. What do you think about homeschooling? It is not popular in the UK.

Hi Goldie,

What got you into the field of stress / happiness management, and how do you feel that your looks and your career as an actress have helped or hindered your aim to promote the work of your foundation?

Thanks Smile
