My husband’s long and arduous weekend. Handholds needed for him

Just a quick post, while our dinner cooks. My husband has had such a long and trying weekend. Let me know if you have any messages of support that you would like me to pass along.

He’s been on a 48 hour stag do bender. It’s been particularly tough on him because he’s 42 years old and has high blood pressure. God bless him.

There have been pub crawls, smoked meat cookouts, distillery tours where they tasted 25 different spirits, poker games and much more. And my husband has pushed through like an absolute saint. He didn’t go to bed until after 4am on both nights and has even lost his poor little voice from all the karaoke. He did 2 Cher songs! Wow!

I’ve had an easy weekend of it, in the homestead. Looking after 3 kids and getting all the washing done after our family holiday. Had a full day of work on Friday. Caught up on some DIY in the evenings too. General relaxation.

Which is why, when my husband arrived home this afternoon at 4.45pm and said he would be going up to bed for nap, I was happy to do the kids dinner and bedtime on my own.

The poor soul. Please keep him in your prayers and thoughts.

Poor thing, I'm sure he'll better rest under the patio though.

This has really made me laugh as my 36 year old husband has just come back from an overseas boozy stag leaving me with our 4 year old and 10 month old!! The funny thing was that I had my family over for a roast and he rocked up at 5pm and had to just suck it up and get stuck in with the kids and his in laws! 🤣

I do feel for your husband though. Must be really tough for him having a weekend away with his mates.

Please ensure you show him this thread so he knows how many people are routing for a restful recovery from such a mighty show of strength and determination.

I'm free for a vigorous ball kick to revive him if you're in Cambridgeshire.

This is my fave post

Thoughts and prayers for DH 🙏

NooNakedJacuzziness · 16/04/2023 20:20

Get the DCs to continue the Cher theme as he's such a fan. Non stop Shoop Shoop, Bang Bang and Believe will soon have him wishing he could turn back time.

zen1 · 16/04/2023 20:20

He’s a keeper OP. One seldom encounters such real-life examples of selflessness, especially one with four DGDs.

I shall pray for him, and light a candle. I hope his dressing gown of doom is warming on a radiator for him?

😂

IKnowItsNotMine · 16/04/2023 20:20

What a trooper !

MultipleVeganPies · 16/04/2023 20:24

The last time my husband did this, I happily accommodated his little lie down

in fact, it was the toddler’s nap time too. So I put them both in the big bed. Came in a bit later to check and found toddler bouncing around on DH head saying “horsey horsey go!”

it made for a very quick recovery of DH, who almost jumped out of bed with renewed energy

I hope you greeted him with open arms and a slick of lipstick and a bow in your hair 😏

  1. Please show him this thread - when he's back in the land of the living.
  1. I think this thread should be nominated for classics!

How did the serenade go? I hope it was very loud. Your poor hubby must need his rest after such an "exhausting" weekend.

Agree with PP, in these testing times it's only right the children keep a vigil round his bed.

Perhaps they could sing a little, to rouse his weary spirits?

ADORE this

I know it’s a lot to ask of him right now, but I so want to jump his bones. I don’t think I’ve ever found him sexier.

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

ThankmelaterOkay · 16/04/2023 20:30

Did he get a survivors medal?

2ndMrsdeWinter · 16/04/2023 20:32

There is nothing more attractive than a modern man who coparents with grace and hustles for the benefit of his family. When he’s fully rested, I suggest you try for baby number three.

ShowUs · 16/04/2023 20:32

Wow I’m impressed I’m 10 years younger and don’t think I could have kept up with him.

I hope he had a good time and isn’t feeling too rough. I know I would be 🤢

Oxborn · 16/04/2023 20:32

I can’t believe your on Mumsnet while he’s suffering 😂

jayho · 16/04/2023 20:32

@ThankmelaterOkay can the kids fashion something out of it with 'noisey' and present it with a fanfare of their own making from available instruments?

Lifeomars · 16/04/2023 20:33

A saint and an inspiration. You are blessed to be allowed to share his life, kiss the hem of his raiment

One of my daughters actually got a certificate for “best effort in singing” last year from her teacher. She couldn’t win for “best singing” if you catch my drift. I mean, love the kid but…

Anyway, I might send her up to serenade him. Do you think that’s appropriate?

Of course, and if one of the other dc has a recorder that will really cheer him up.

ChateauxNeufDePoop · 16/04/2023 20:34

Good effort mate, don't let the bitches grind you down.

Lulu1919 · 16/04/2023 20:34

I'm sending him a handhold ...poor little lamb
