My husband’s long and arduous weekend. Handholds needed for him

Just a quick post, while our dinner cooks. My husband has had such a long and trying weekend. Let me know if you have any messages of support that you would like me to pass along.

He’s been on a 48 hour stag do bender. It’s been particularly tough on him because he’s 42 years old and has high blood pressure. God bless him.

There have been pub crawls, smoked meat cookouts, distillery tours where they tasted 25 different spirits, poker games and much more. And my husband has pushed through like an absolute saint. He didn’t go to bed until after 4am on both nights and has even lost his poor little voice from all the karaoke. He did 2 Cher songs! Wow!

I’ve had an easy weekend of it, in the homestead. Looking after 3 kids and getting all the washing done after our family holiday. Had a full day of work on Friday. Caught up on some DIY in the evenings too. General relaxation.

Which is why, when my husband arrived home this afternoon at 4.45pm and said he would be going up to bed for nap, I was happy to do the kids dinner and bedtime on my own.

The poor soul. Please keep him in your prayers and thoughts.

Oh your poor husband. Tell him to put his feet up. I hope you’re taking good care of him!!

She wants to sing “Green Green Grass” which I think is both touching and appropriate. And the right amount of upbeat.

She says she only knows the chorus, but I told her it doesn’t matter.

Tell her to make it Another One Bites the Dust. Or Tequila by Terrorvision.

🏅 for his services to the hospitality industry, his achievements should be applauded

I think, perhaps the DC should go and keep him company in his hour of need.

Fabulous plan 🤣🤣

Soleiro · 16/04/2023 20:10

I've just been doing my bit clapping outside the house for him, op, lease he deserves.

GirlySwot73 · 16/04/2023 20:11

@mackthepony Absolutely this. The more tired and vulnerable they are, the sexier they get. On your knees, girls!

GirlySwot73 · 16/04/2023 20:11

@Soleiro I might indulge in a bit of pan banging for mine

Starwarslover · 16/04/2023 20:12

Sounds like the little fellas had a tough time, my thoughts are with him and I wish him a speedy recovery!

Whatliesbeneath707 · 16/04/2023 20:12

Poor lad, i bet he's as weak as a kitten. Thinking of him at this difficult time. Tell him well done for fighting the good fight 💪

Let us have the address and we'll be around as soon as we can, OP.

Such self-sacrifice is worthy of wider recognition.

Whichnumbers · 16/04/2023 20:13

could you give his feet a rub..?

twanmever · 16/04/2023 20:14

I'm relieved it wasn't his bladder, as indicated by trending. However I think you should avoid cock sucking, just in case.

I dunno about yours @CalpolDependant but mine is so tired he's got his cardigan on inside out. Phwooarr!!

twanmever · 16/04/2023 20:14

Whoops! Not sure how the double image happened!

WalterWitty · 16/04/2023 20:14

Practical steps OP, have you passed him the number for Samaritans? He really shouldn’t be brave facing this, and you shouldn’t be just expecting him to ‘pull his socks up’ either.

Do we know how the other brave soldiers are holding up? Perhaps you and the other WAGs could consider leaving them to the peace of family life the next couple of days and brave a bottomless brunch? It’s important you all get a small taste of what they’ve been through so your adequately able to support them going forwards, anyone of them could develop PTSD…

vinoandbrie · 16/04/2023 20:15

Thoughts and prayers (for you both!)

Needapadlockonmyfridge · 16/04/2023 20:15

Definitely send the kids up to sing to him, accompanied by whatever they can find -some rousing percussion will revive him, I'm sure.

Poor man, the things they do to support the wellbeing of their families. The least you can do to repay him for giving you so much freedom and space this weekend, is to put arsenic in his cocoa tend to his every whim.

feathermucker · 16/04/2023 20:16

Exactly the sort of thing I'd write!

I shall keep him in my prayers

jayho · 16/04/2023 20:17

@Goldbar genius, I'm willing to travel to support this cause, will collect others en route, pm for pick ups huns #blessedbymankind

What a splendid idea. Such sacrifice, honestly, but in the spirit of being supportive and all that…perhaps two brunches? Just to be sure?
