Is this positive?!

I’ve name changed for this. I am due in hospital tomorrow for a colposcopy because of periods being all over the place. Just decided to do a pregnancy test just to be on the safe side.
DH and I were told earlier this year it was very unlikely we could conceive due to my age and low AMH levels.

Was not expecting this. I’m not going nuts am I? Is this positive? Is there any way it could be wrong?

DH is at work & I can’t talk to him for a couple of hours. Am shaking.

Is this positive?!

Just seen this thread for the first time after a really difficult day and I am thrilled for you @Omgwhatthehell. I hope you don't have any more nausea and you soon have your baby in your arms. Not too soon, July middle is soon enough. Take care.

Opalfeet · 11/02/2022 17:39

I've only just read the thread as it's popped up on main page. I love a bit of good news and it's nice not having to wait for the positive updates.

Sorry @Omgwhatthehell I can't help wondering what your age is as you seem to regard yourself as 'ancient'.

IReallyLikeCrows · 11/02/2022 17:42

This thread is the loveliest thing! @Omgwhatthehell your delight is infectious and I went squee when I saw your sonogram. I'm glad for you that the sickness is starting to ease and so happy for you and your DH that this lovely surprise came into your life.

DeadButDelicious · 11/02/2022 17:45

What a lovely thread! Congratulations OP!

hangrylady · 11/02/2022 17:48

Yes! Congratulations OP

hangrylady · 11/02/2022 17:54

Sorry just realised this is an older thread and you've already had the scan! Agree it's a lovely thread,

SpiderVersed · 11/02/2022 17:55

The sickness can be so dreadful. I found eating little and often helped quite a bit with the worst of it.

I kept a few packets of nuts and dried fruit in my bag/pockets all the time helped stave it off. You know those little packs at the tills in Aldi? that sort of thing.

Phobiaphobic · 11/02/2022 18:02

This is so sweet. Congratulations!

I’m 41 @Opalfeet I know it’s not actually ‘ancient’ but I thought my fertility has fallen off a cliff and that I was starting the peri-menopause.

I was 41 when I had my last one, I am delighted for you. You are not ancient until you see elderly primagravida on your notes! Wink
Hope all goes well with the rest of your pregnancy Xx Daffodil

What a heartwarming thread.

I clicked on expecting a covid test pic and the OP getting a pasting for not posting in the covid topic.

Congratulations to you and your husband Flowers

Can I just say this happened to me - was told I had a 1 in a million chance of getting pregnant, that IVF wouldn't work as barely any egg production, my AMH levels were too low to get pregnant, I even tried the private Harley Street clinic where they take your one egg and mollycoddle it, but they couldn't even harvest one, as each time I went they had all turned to cysts or something (sorry, not great at the technical stuff). Anyway, I had completely given up and come to terms with it, then conceived completely naturally on holiday in France, drinking (and even the odd fag - whoops), at the grand old age of 43! Gave birth to a healthy ruddy baby boy when I was 44. He's now a lively lovely 7 nearly 8 year old, and I am an exhausted (but young at heart!) 52 year old. He is my miracle boy, and I completely love him. He does have an older sister, who's 12, so had her when I was 39! We love our family of three (sadly their dad didn't last the distance although he co-parents). Congratulations - and don't think of yourself as old. Here in south London most of my friends don't have their babies until nearly or around 40!

montysma1 · 11/02/2022 18:38

My cousin had rounds and rounds of unsuccessful IVF. They gave up finally as the mental stress was too much. Next thing of course, she was pregnant naturally!

I had my twins at 42 (natural), and then a shock addition at 45 and 9 months, also natural.
So don't bet on the just one! I think maybe our bodies have a last hurrah!

netflixfan · 11/02/2022 18:38

Cogratulations! Dont worry for one minute about a couple of drinks. Keep updating us please!

Opalfeet · 11/02/2022 18:42

@Omgwhatthehell well congrats I had my first at 39 and my second came along at 41.5, though he was conceived at 40...just! Not as ancient as I thought then 🤣

piglet81 · 11/02/2022 18:51

Love hearing about 40+ successes. Gives me hope. All the best OP and I hope it goes well.

SeraphinaDombegh · 11/02/2022 18:53

Carriecakes80 · 11/02/2022 18:59

Oh thats amazing for you! I had finished having my kids, or so I thought when I hit my 40's. eleven long years me and husband were trying for our last but it never happened...decided to forget all about it (though I was sad to!) and enjoy the life we have together, when I found out I was expecting twins!!

Life works in very mysterious ways!! I'm due in may! Sadly lost one of the twins but my little girl is kicking me merrily as we speak! x

user1499191107 · 11/02/2022 18:59

So wonderful! Congratulations!! I had my one and only (living) child at 46 so I understand the disbelief and amazement. Good luck!

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 11/02/2022 19:08

MidLifeCrisis007 · 11/02/2022 19:18

I'm raising a glass to you!

Cheers!

WeAreTheHeroes · 11/02/2022 19:19

What a lovely thread. Happened to someone I knew - struggled to conceive for years to the point she had a career change to something less stressful. They had IVF without success. Once they'd decided to stop trying as it wasn't to be, she conceived and they now have two little girls.
