I just spent the night nursing a cushion tassel thinking it was a baby hedgehog

Ok so my back is currently in spasm so am blaming my high strength painkillers for being such an idiot. Last night after letting the dogs out for a wee they became incredibly excited and it was because there was a hedgehog outside. I quickly got the dogs in and the hedgehog went on it's merry way. I was in the living room watching lots of episodes of Doc Martin (my new fav programme). I looked down and saw a small white soft spiky thing. I picked it up and panicked it was the shape of a baby hedgehog but white. I googled baby hedgehogs it looked the same. I was awake until 3 am cradling and keeping warm a cushion tassel. Googling and learning all about how to care for a baby hedgehog. FFS what a moron 🤣 I only realised this morning in the daylight what it was.

I was driving to work once and saw what I thought was a dead cat on the side of the road. I was quite tearful as I slowed down to have a better look. As I got closer, I realised that it was a piece of palm tree bark that had fallen down.

Your story has really made me laugh :D

bellagogosdead · 27/02/2021 15:33

Best thread title ever. Grin

HandforthParishCouncilClerk · 27/02/2021 15:38

If only we had a hedgehog emoji...please MN?

doublehalo · 27/02/2021 15:46

Aw bless! It does look very cute and in need of a cuddle.

3beesinmybonnet · 27/02/2021 15:47

I too thought this must be made up till I remembered the time, many moons ago, I was hiking up Pavey Ark (a hill in The Outside) and found what I thought must be an incredibly rare fungus. Balancing it on my palm I called to my friends "Wow, come and look at this!" before looking back down at it and realising it was in fact a lump of sheep shit covered in green furry mould. "What is it?" they asked as I threw it back on the ground saying "Oh nothing." and wiping my hand on my trousers.

I think I got away with it.

catpoooffender · 27/02/2021 15:47

Someone once posted on here that they were out walking somewhere and on a country lane saw a large toad in the middle of the road, about to be run over by a van. So she ran into the road and gestured for the van to stop so she could move the toad. Only as she approached it, she realised it was a cow pat 😅

PraiseTheSunshine · 27/02/2021 15:48

Bless your heart 🤣 I could see myself doing something like that tbh

RickiTarr · 27/02/2021 15:50

You need muscle relaxants PDQ. If you can relax the spasm your analgesia requirement drops. Trust me on this. I know how painful it is.

AlwaysLatte · 27/02/2021 15:51

Please tell me you didn't also sew tassels onto your cushions??

Knittedfairies · 27/02/2021 15:53

@AlwaysLatte

Surely sewing baby hedgehogs on would be far worse?
ColonelNobbyNobbs · 27/02/2021 15:54

Roaring at the ‘rare fungus’ sheep shite Grin

I am glad it made you laugh. Thank you for kind comments re my back. I am actually staying at my mums as in so much pain, mum is in my bubble as it just me, my daughter and the dogs.
I must have inherited my gormless behaviour from my Mum (sorry Mum not being rude you are wonderful) . Two of our favourites from our Mum are , at Epsom Downs a big life size plastic horse and Mum is clicking her fingers and talking to it. The best though was in M&S when she tapped a man and he said 'can I help you? ' and Mum said 'Oh I was just seeing if you were real, I thought you were a dummy'. (Mannequin) The look on the mans face was priceless but I was so embarrassed.

Love this 🤣 and love your big heart.

AnitaB888 · 27/02/2021 15:57

That reminds me of my mother.
Many, many years ago she told me she saw what looked like a hedgehog in the garden in the snow and felt sorry for it. So she put out a saucer of warm milk (quite wrong for hedgehogs I know) and was very surprised in the morning when she saw the milk was untouched and the hedgehog still there.
So she put on wellies to go and investigate and found she's been offering milk to the yard brush that had fallen down.

Oh I don’t think you can blame the drugs at all OP. This is genetic. You’re stuck with it. Smile
haggisandmarsbar · 27/02/2021 15:58

It's not a tassel, it's a butt plug pillow.

Cocolapew · 27/02/2021 15:59
