Oh we are hardcore now - buy a prescription feed 10kg at a time!

derxa · 08/10/2020 06:57

@Hammy65

Back in the late eighties, I bought twenty two sheep - by mistake!! We had bought a house with a small field and thought we’d keep a couple of sheep. Did our homework, learnt about their needs and how to take care of them. Sooooo - went to the local market. The sheep were in pens and I chose two that I liked the look of. When the bidding came I pointed at ‘my’ two sheep. Turns out I’ve bought two pen loads. Couldn’t get out of the transaction so had to hire a lorry to get them home. Then had to hire a lorry the following week to take twenty sheep back to market( kept two - no idea if they were the ones I had chosen as they all looked alike by then 😫) A very expensive exercise. Easy to make these mistakes - especially now with just a click on the button. Hey ho ! 😂
Oh Hammy I can't see how that happened.
Oscarsdaddy · 08/10/2020 07:28

Wow !

This certainly puts a global pandemic into perspective

Collision · 08/10/2020 08:36

@beth2702 🤬🤬🤬

Sense of humour failure?

This thread has made my day!

I’m currently trying to put a food order together for my son, who has contracted coronavirus in his very first week at university. He’s in a tiny room, completely isolated and quite poorly. I can’t get to him but desperately trying now to do some food shopping for him as university forgot to send his dinner to him last night.

I’m now checking over and over again that I haven’t sent him 32 oranges by mistake!

So Beth, rather than make your passive aggressive comments, jog on!

Collision · 08/10/2020 08:42

@Oscarsdaddy

I can’t decide if you are being funny or not. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I really hate it when you can’t say or do something because someone has it worse.

‘I’ve broken my arm.’
‘Well, be grateful you haven’t died of coronavirus.’

‘I’ve lost £20 from my purse.’
‘Well, be grateful you haven’t died.’

‘I’ve ordered the wrong shopping.’
‘Well this puts a global pandemic into perspective.’

Pisses me right off.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 08/10/2020 08:59

@Collision don't you realise we're not allowed to have any enjoyment at the moment? There's a pandemic and therefore we have to be as miserable as possible according to some people!

helpIhateclothesshopping · 08/10/2020 09:07

Do people really not check the prices on things when they order? I would have thought 1 banana or 1 loo roll would be priced very differently to a pack of 6 or 12. Or are some people just rich enough not to worry about looking at the prices when they order?
My husband got very annoyed about the fact that we once had 5 bottles of washing up liquid in the cupboard, however there was a good reason for it. We had one bottle in use, they were BOGOF in the supermarket so I bought 2, the following week we were on holiday and forgot to take any (self catering) so ended up buying 2 more on BOGOF because it was better value. Sadly he thought I had some kind of Fairy liquid fetish and had done it on purpose, I didn't dare buy any more until we were down to the last dregs of the last bottle, probably a year or more later (we have a dishwasher so don't use much usually).

bloodynamechangethe3rd · 08/10/2020 09:37

Oh my god! I had 11 boxes of crisps delivered, I wanted 1, and 8 BOXES of beer when I wanted 8 BOTTLES. Glad it’s not just me.

THEDEACON · 08/10/2020 10:35

I ended up with 24 pints of milk the other week accidentally Fortunately it was filtered so long dated !

We have 2 dogs, so I've got a Subscribe and Save monthly order with Amazon; there's no way I'm lugging a 15kg bag of Skinner's home on the bus! (No car)

SenorFrog · 08/10/2020 11:09

I have 13 boxes of cereal in my house and several more hidden in the garage so dh doesn’t see. I must remember to move them before I send him in for Christmas decorations.

It's either competitive misery, or competitive online buying....

"Well I ordered 2000 bales of toilet paper by mistake and they turned up in a Wincanton articulated lorry". Grin

So true! I think it's the ability to laugh at daft things that is going to get me through all this. My life is quite tiny at the moment (health reasons) so il find joy wherever I can right now Grin
Thanks to everyone who has helped me laugh on this thread and I wish you well getting through your various accidental bulk purchases!!

It’s not often that something makes me laugh aloud - this did!

Aridane · 09/10/2020 15:34

(not sure what happened with bold text there)

Aridane · 09/10/2020 15:35

Would it be cheeky to nominate this for Classics?

Aridane · 09/10/2020 15:42

The 22 sheep one (still chuckling) reminds me of the episode in Would I Lie to You where a panellist spoke to ‘I Once Accidentally Bought a Horse’...

I hate to be a wet blanket but I don't understand how the sheep incident happened. I do actually go to sheep sales and bid for sheep.
daisychain01 · 09/10/2020 17:00

@gurteee no sense of humour by-pass here, it's a lovely humorous thread and whether stuff happened exactly as described, who cares. It's made some of us 😹. Thanks for the positivity!

Saltovinegar · 09/10/2020 17:10

This thread is hilarious especially the sheep buying.

Recent delivery highlights have been a teeny bottle of capers and one lonely bar of chocolate when I wanted a pack of six, very disappointing!

Like Localocal I'm too lazy to check what we already have so currently we have 10 jars of olives and a lot of flour.

joell75 · 09/10/2020 17:27

My phone searched for, selected and paypal paid for a pair of size 1 Nike trainers while in my pocket!

Notenoughchocolateomg · 09/10/2020 20:02

Loved reading this thread. Made me laugh out loud.

Hobbes8 · 09/10/2020 21:37

How were you planning to get the two sheep home?

winetime89 · 09/10/2020 22:29

I ordered ten packs of bananas the other week, I meant to order ten bananas, ended up with 70!
