Oh! mrsB!
We sat outside the house for the Borg McInroe final. Couldn't move.
It kept going to match point.
Had come from watching a matinee performance of Merce Cunningham's Dance Company at Sadler's Wells, with John Cage performing the music. What an afternoon.
Sorry everyone,as you were.Smile

I walked past a car today with a big note on the windscreen written in felt tip.

The not started: please don't block the driveways

I didn't read the rest.

But it wasn't blocking a driveway, it really, really wasn't. HOW I thought about this thread.

We soooo need the pink dressing gown emoji!

I saw a proper metal sign on a pole at the end of someone's drive saying "it is illegal to block driveways and you shall be reported". Not in Alphabet Street though.

Just one question, SausageRoll : who’s playing the workman? Surely an opportunity for an A-list cameo?

Ooh, controversial! I’m thinking maybe Liam Neeson - rough but oh-so charming with it.

Brenda Blethyn though
I like being Emilia Clarke better!

Apologies, OP, I was thinking wholly of her stealth, wisdom and all-round canniness and not her age or potential dourness – but your word is my command, so I’ve already been on to Emilia’s agent. It took a lot of persuasion, as she didn’t think herself worthy to fill your very big boots (very big as in mightily esteemed rather than clown-sized). After a lot of demurring and blushing on her part, she’s agreed to give it a go and is so desperate to do you justice and not to let you down. She said her worst fear was that, if she didn't give it her absolute AAA+++ Game, it could potentially lead to irreversible career damage. Yours, obviously, as Lifetime MN PDG-Clad Parking Sleuth President & Comms Coordinator in residence.

Channel 4 have sent through the proof of the film pre-publicity teaser poster for approval. They said they've gone for 'gritty' to reflect the down-to-earth reality of the whole saga and to represent the basic British sense of justice-at-any-cost they also said something about it being their Bring-Your-Daughter-To-Work Day

Oh, I do hope there is at least one prominent billboard or bus shelter on Alphabet Street.

I missed it as well. I bought a pink dressing gown last week. I had a choice between pink or cream....but the pink appealed more. I never wear pink. I blame this thread.

But where will Mrs B park when she attends the premiere????

Moving briskly
That's an easy one!
She will park with her drivers door right next to the red carpet.

MyNameHasBeenTaken · 15/02/2020 10:41

Or would they be using a pink carpet?

This year's Oscar statuettes will all be wearing pink dressing gowns, of course.

The VIP goody bags will all include the keys to a pink Peugeot 206, a pair of L-plates, a copy of Prince's 'Alphabet Street' on 7" vinyl, the latest edition of Parker's Guide and a bumper sticker saying "My other car tows a horsebox".

To wind up the proceedings with a grand finale to end all others, Ariana Grande and Stormzy will premiere their powerful new romantic duet 'We Are So Close, But Yet We Do Not Touch' as the full ensemble of the Royal Ballet perform in the round, clad appropriately in fluffy fuchsia robes. Mirrorballs and fireworks will in no way be rationed. I'm welling up here already.

But where will Mrs B park when she attends the premiere????

With the sheer amount of people in attendance, I'm sure they'll have a large dedicated coach parking area - she can just grab a couple of spaces there.

F went out. F left her space vacant. F has lost her space.

We have new neighbours.

I'll have to extend the diagram.

I have delurked and joined MN just to be able to tell Original Cat Lady how much joy she’s brought me with this neverending saga, along with the rest of you daft sods. It makes my weird neighbours seem positively pedestrian.

I really really hope the new people own both the car and the van they have arrived in. This could change Alphabet Street forever. They don't know the rules.
