To tell you about my first night with my son?

Ok awful use of AIBU so I apologise but just wanted to share Grin

Bought home my long awaited, much loved adopted 12 month old baby boy yesterday!

He fell asleep in his cot at 7pm - usually sleeps all the way through to 7am but woke up at 3am. Could hear him on the baby monitor chatting away happily to himself (so no waking up confused or scared!). Eventually started to fuss so I went in and changed his nappy as it was soaks through, changed his pyjamas and bed sheets, but he wouldn't settle back in his cot so bought him back in with me and DH where he fell asleep curled up with me. At about 5am he was obviously dreaming of something funny as he was chuckling away in his sleep. We then got up about an hour ago and he is happily playing around with me and giving me cuddles after having his breakfast Smile

I know it's early days and it's likely to get harder the next few days as he starts to realise he is missing his foster carer, but omg I am so happy and in love with my little chap.

That’s made my morning.

I think you did the right thing taking him in with you, Foster carers have differs rules, as far as I’m aware they are not allowed to take a child into their bed? You are now his mummy and he needs as much contact as possible, he deserves lots of hugs and love. Enjoy every minute.

justforthisthread101 · 11/01/2018 08:28

What a lovely thread. Lots of love and luck to you and your family Thanks

GinIsIn · 11/01/2018 08:29

That ‘rod for your own back’? It’s not real! You are his mother and even on night one have done what you felt instinctively was best. Keep on like that and you can’t go wrong! Congratulations to you - you got this!

My son is the same age and whatever he needs is the right thing. That’s all there is to it.

Andrewofgg · 11/01/2018 08:29

A lovely start to the day. Give him a cuddle from all his cyber-aunts and uncles on MN.

Youvegotafriendinme · 11/01/2018 08:30

Oh wow that’s such a wonderful thing to read. Enjoy him, they are so very very precious Smile

BangPippleGo · 11/01/2018 08:31

Yep his foster carers were not allowed to co-sleep. Hope that didn't come across as me slating then because they are bloody brilliant! And will be a big part of all our lives Smile

Congratulations! Lovely thread to start the day.
I woke up to find my 3yr old had squirrelled in next to me, was fab.
Long may the hugs continue!

kaytee87 · 11/01/2018 08:32

All morning he's been coming up to me smiling and touching my face and stroking my leg and sitting still on my lap for cuddles.

This is adorable. Please keep us updated op, your thread has cheered me up :)

wherethevioletsgrow · 11/01/2018 08:32

Willow2017 · 11/01/2018 08:33

Awww.
Such a happy post on a wet cold morning.😀
Enjoy your gorgeous baby boy and do it your way. Cuddles in bed are awesome.

2gorgeousboys · 11/01/2018 08:33

Errrr thanks Op. I'm sat in the doctors waiting room in tears reading this. Everyone's giving me funny little slide glances whilst I try to pretend I've got a cold.

Congratulations on your little boy.

Loonoonow · 11/01/2018 08:34

That sounds like the best possible start to your family life. Enjoy every moment with him. Flowers.

How lovely! Nicest thing I've read in a long time.

Congratulations!

MTBMummy · 11/01/2018 08:40

How wonderful, and what a lovely start to your day.

You will never regret too many cuddles.

Wishing your new family everything of the best

whiskyowl · 11/01/2018 08:41

Awwww, OP, you made me cry! We are thinking about adoption at the moment, and all anyone does is tell us off-putting horror stories. It's really lovely to hear something so positive and full of love.

PinkyBlunder · 11/01/2018 08:42

This is just wonderful Flowers

You could never give him too much love and you’ll never regret giving him cuddles. Enjoy every minute xxx

emsmum79 · 11/01/2018 08:45

Many congratulations op. Your posts have made me quite tearful!

**He needs to know that when he needs me I'll come running!

Definitely agree. We coslept with our DD when she needed it and picked her up or simply went into her room for reassurance every time she cried - she settles at night beautifully and is the most content toddler. I'm happy that when she's not crying I'm not thinking it's because she knows we won't help, so there's no point in crying. Hope that makes sense!

tattyheadsmum · 11/01/2018 08:47

That's wonderful OP. Such a lovely story to start the morning with!

I have a DS a similar age (bit older), who we bring in with us when he starts getting shouty around 5am. I started off thinking it was a bad habit that we needed to try and fix, but now I would happily have him in with us all the time (and my DH feels exactly the same)!

Saracen · 11/01/2018 08:48

How unbelievably sweet.

I am welling up.

I'm over the moon for you.
