To tell you about my first night with my son?

Ok awful use of AIBU so I apologise but just wanted to share Grin

Bought home my long awaited, much loved adopted 12 month old baby boy yesterday!

He fell asleep in his cot at 7pm - usually sleeps all the way through to 7am but woke up at 3am. Could hear him on the baby monitor chatting away happily to himself (so no waking up confused or scared!). Eventually started to fuss so I went in and changed his nappy as it was soaks through, changed his pyjamas and bed sheets, but he wouldn't settle back in his cot so bought him back in with me and DH where he fell asleep curled up with me. At about 5am he was obviously dreaming of something funny as he was chuckling away in his sleep. We then got up about an hour ago and he is happily playing around with me and giving me cuddles after having his breakfast Smile

I know it's early days and it's likely to get harder the next few days as he starts to realise he is missing his foster carer, but omg I am so happy and in love with my little chap.

Oh bless him sounds like a sweetie and if you want him in your bed snuggled up to you and he’s happy I think it’s an amazing bonding experience sleeping with your baby next to you (currently snuggled next to my 5year old😁)

Congratulations to you and your lovely family. My adopted boy was placed with us 2 years ago this week, and he was 13 months old at the time, so I know how wonderful it is to finally have that longed for little person home with you. Enjoy every minute, as I'm sure you will x

Congratulations to you all.
So many best wishes for your new life together.
I remember the first night with my DS.
I was still in shock. We went from not knowing he existed to him being with us in the space of a week.
SS called us on Friday. By the following Friday I was in court waiting to take him home.

I remember sitting on the sofa with him in his moses basket thinking he was the noisiest sleeping baby I had ever heard Grin
Blimey that night was the start of quite the rollacoaster.
The tiny scrap is now a massive 14 year old with huge hair and a collection of electric guitars.

I'm so happy for you

Oh wow, how lovely Grin - I have goosebumps.

I never co-slept with my DTDs - twins, well, it's just not that easy. Now they're 8 however, they often creep into bed with me for a quick cuddle before we start our day. Precious time.

Octopus37 · 11/01/2018 20:27

Wow that is so lovely. Congratulations to you x

Grilledaubergines · 11/01/2018 20:32

Only made it to the second paragraph OP before my eyes streamed!

I think you're amazing. Amazing that you've given that little boy of yours his forever family and home.

Enjoy every moment with him. Even when he's driving you up the wall - he will Grin

Genuinely thrilled for you all.Flowers

AgathaMystery · 11/01/2018 20:41

babybubblescomingsoon · 11/01/2018 20:55

OP this has made my day. I'm so happy this little boy has found a found with people who clearly love and adore him. Flowers

readyforno2 · 11/01/2018 20:55

This is a lovely use of aibu!

Wrt "rod for your own back" who cares? I regularly have my ds' in my bed. Last night ds1 (10) and ds2 (5) had a sleepover in my bed. It was so snuggley and cosy.

Dh works offshore and it's nice to have someone to cuddle.
