To tell you about my first night with my son?

Ok awful use of AIBU so I apologise but just wanted to share Grin

Bought home my long awaited, much loved adopted 12 month old baby boy yesterday!

He fell asleep in his cot at 7pm - usually sleeps all the way through to 7am but woke up at 3am. Could hear him on the baby monitor chatting away happily to himself (so no waking up confused or scared!). Eventually started to fuss so I went in and changed his nappy as it was soaks through, changed his pyjamas and bed sheets, but he wouldn't settle back in his cot so bought him back in with me and DH where he fell asleep curled up with me. At about 5am he was obviously dreaming of something funny as he was chuckling away in his sleep. We then got up about an hour ago and he is happily playing around with me and giving me cuddles after having his breakfast Smile

I know it's early days and it's likely to get harder the next few days as he starts to realise he is missing his foster carer, but omg I am so happy and in love with my little chap.

There seems to be something in my eye!

Congratulations

OMG, that poem! I am sitting in a cafe blubbing. Thankfully, I have the tail end of flu so just look very ill rather than deranged.

OP, you sound like a wonderful Mum. Our DD co-slept with us and still comes in halfway through the night. She's just turned three and I know it's going to break my heart when she stops doing it. Hope you enjoy every single moment.

I vote for classics too!

Glitterandunicorns · 11/01/2018 13:01

What a lovely story! Congratulations, OP! Thanks

Capricornandproud · 11/01/2018 13:08

Welcome to the world of no sleep Mama!!! What a lovely post to read and how beautiful to see that you've all found each other. And you just follow your maternal instinct and do what's right for you and your son; we're the only animals on this planet that DON'T sleep with our young and it's madness. You keep snuggling and loving your little man all you want and all he needs. Congratulations xx

ChristmasCakes · 11/01/2018 13:12

You sound like a brilliant mummy. Wrap yourself up in a bubble with your little boy and stay there forever because you need each other.

I have an 8 month old who sleeps beside me and I lie awake basking in the feeling of his warm little bare feet on my leg. There's nothing on this earth makes me as happy as he does.

Heartoffire · 11/01/2018 13:17

Ah what a really lovely post. We babysat our 2 year old grandson last week for the night and he was fretting a bit so we popped him in between us. I never thought it would be possible to love a child as much as our own child but you can, it’s called a grand child Grin

Congrats op. That’s one lucky little kipper you have there xx

Barbie222 · 11/01/2018 13:18

Lovely news!!

BottleBeach · 11/01/2018 13:18

The sound of a baby laughing in their sleep is one of the best sounds in the world 💜

Congratulations OP Flowers

Cherish him. He sounds wonderful. I had my 4yo boy in with me last night as he had a nasty cough. Nothing better.

Oh how lovely, many congratulations - store up these lovely moments, they're so precious.

And if you haven't already, pop over to the adoption boards, there's a group of us who will be super happy to hear how you're doing and offer support.

Oh OP I’m in floods of tears in my car here! DS also 12 months is snoozing in the back so I haven’t gone in to the house yet. I just want to grab him and squeeze him now! What a lovely post, congratulations on your little boy, he’s at such a special age. How nice that your OH has some time off too. We co-sleep and I don’t know how this will continue when DD joins us in a few short weeks but we’ll figure it out.

DIngdongmerryilyonhigh · 11/01/2018 13:47
