To tell you about my first night with my son?

Ok awful use of AIBU so I apologise but just wanted to share Grin

Bought home my long awaited, much loved adopted 12 month old baby boy yesterday!

He fell asleep in his cot at 7pm - usually sleeps all the way through to 7am but woke up at 3am. Could hear him on the baby monitor chatting away happily to himself (so no waking up confused or scared!). Eventually started to fuss so I went in and changed his nappy as it was soaks through, changed his pyjamas and bed sheets, but he wouldn't settle back in his cot so bought him back in with me and DH where he fell asleep curled up with me. At about 5am he was obviously dreaming of something funny as he was chuckling away in his sleep. We then got up about an hour ago and he is happily playing around with me and giving me cuddles after having his breakfast Smile

I know it's early days and it's likely to get harder the next few days as he starts to realise he is missing his foster carer, but omg I am so happy and in love with my little chap.

You are definitely not BU Grin massive congratulations, your boy sounds wonderful and you sound like such a natural, loving mummy. Keep enjoying every second.

That poem posted by a pp has tipped me over the edge. Cuddling newborn DS and crying. What a lovely morning.

Sharpandshineyteeth · 11/01/2018 09:59

This is so beautiful!! Will you keep us updated. I imagine you are on cloud 9 at the minute. Enjoy every moment.

For years, as a child, I had nightmares of being in a cot and screaming louder and louder for my mother and being distraught that she didn't come. I was discussing it with her when I was older and she was shocked as my description of the cot sounded exactly the same as the big metal one I slept in when I was hospitalised from the age of 12 months for a period of six weeks. This was in 1962 and parents couldn't stay with their children. It realky does affect even young babies if you don't respond to their emotional needs.

You bring your son into your bed if he needs it and don't let anyone tell you otherwise!

I hope all goes well Smile

Wow you've really captured the joy of becoming a parent. Isn't it amazing.
Congratulations x

MammaTJ · 11/01/2018 10:04

YANBU!! What a lovely post!

I am here struggling to get my 12 year old home educated DD motivated. I must admit to feeling a little frustrated. Your post has melted me! Made me think back to the baby she was and reminded me she is still a child, my child, not my pupil!

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 11/01/2018 10:04

Aww Pipple, tearing up here, what a beautiful thread. He sounds totally adorable, and is so lucky to have such a loving Mummy.
Lucky, lucky you ! 💙💙💙💙💙🌺

You've given me goosebumps OP! Congratulations on your little son 👶

FranksBobot · 11/01/2018 10:07

I feel all warm and fuzzy! Thanks for sharing OP.

spiderlight · 11/01/2018 10:11

I appear to have something in my eye....

Flowers Have a lovely lovely day today.

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 11/01/2018 10:14

chatting happily to himself - how lovely! Congratulations! Have you got any fun plans for today?

ethelfleda · 11/01/2018 10:15

You can add my tears to the mix also... And that poem!! Am holding my baby boy now after feeding him and he is asleep. One day he will be too big to sleep on his mama 😢

I also don't think it's possible to spoil a child with affection! Our DS has been held almost constantly since birth and although he is only 10 weeks old now, he is the happiest little boy. Even the doctor commented and how smiley he is.

I never used to be this soppy, I used to be the most non-maternal cynical person ever.

Congratulations OP - I'm so glad you found each other.

kateandme · 11/01/2018 10:19

how good did it make all feel today too.
I think there should be a gibr post every day(great I'm being reasonable) on here.the world s so dark and dreary for some right now and I cant feel the mood just on this one post is so light and sparkly(sickening words kate) its lovely to hear today.and lovely to see the responses that seem to literally be smiling.

JaimeLannister · 11/01/2018 10:20

OpalIridescence · 11/01/2018 10:21

Congratulations to all of the members of your new family! So glad you have found one another. Grin

glitterglitters · 11/01/2018 10:23

This post gave me the warm and fuzzies. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Mix56 · 11/01/2018 10:25

I demand my 24 yr old bear of a boy back as a baby immediately...

IToldYouIWasFreaky · 11/01/2018 10:29

Congratulations OP! He sounds like such a happy little soul - chuckling in his sleep, bless him!
I totally agree with previous posters saying when something becomes an issue, deal with it then. I stressed so much about rocking baby DS to sleep, or giving him a dummy etc but actually with all those things, when the time came, he gave them up quite easily.
For now, you all need those cuddles and physical closeness so go with it and enjoy it!

ShellyBoobs · 11/01/2018 10:29

This is so lovely!

What a lucky little boy to have been adopted by someone so loving and grateful to have him.

I’m going to get my OH to read this as he’s grumping to himself in his office (at home) over trivial work stuff. It will brighten up his day for sure.

SapporoQ · 11/01/2018 10:30

Tears here too ! Massive congratulations on your long awaited baby boy.

SnipSnipMrBurgess · 11/01/2018 10:31

I was awake tje whole time just thinking "wow". I've got what I always wanted!!!!

I bet your son was thinking the exact same thing [hugs]

silkpyjamasallday · 11/01/2018 10:31

Your first night sounds heartbreakingly lovely OP. Congratulations to you all, and may you have many more wonderful days and nights to come with your little boy.

BuffalotheGruffalo · 11/01/2018 10:32

Congratulations OP! You just brought back all the fuzzy warm feelings I had that first morning we woke up to DS being with us, he was 3 months old when he came home. Enjoy every single snuggle you can get, he needs his mummy and to know you're there whenever he needs you, who cares about making a rod. babies can never be held too much. Congratulations and enjoy! I can remember just staring at DS constantly as he slept on me wondering how such a perfect little being was in my life.

notyourmummy · 11/01/2018 10:36

Beautiful post. Huge congratulations to you all. And that rod you're making? It holds you all together when things get tough, take it from me ;-) x

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 11/01/2018 10:36

Aww wonderful many congratulations Flowers

Some babies love sleeping in bed with their mummy and daddy and if all are happy it’s not making a rod for your own back it’s doing what’s best for your family

Enjoy Smile
