She has been living in our wood store for the last few weeks and for the last two we have been leaving food out. We put details up on local facebook pages, leaflet dropped and put posters up in local shop etc. No-one came forward so I took her to local vet and had her scanned for a chip. Nothing there and the vet told me she has a cigarette burn on her neck Angry

she is beautiful, friendly and sweet- a fluffy tabby with the foxiest brush of a tail. Vet reckons she is around eight months old

we cannot keep her as our boy is an only cat and detests all other cats. He will go walkabout if she stays as he's done that to previous owners. She is very sweet with him and is well socialised

I live just outside Durham- please pm me if you can help

thank you

Toold, I am trying hard not to think about her going...she is my little shadow Sad
Sherlock will be mightily relieved...he's taken to glowering in dark corners ans we have to go looking for him on a night and haul him inside

Morning all! Was awake at 4am but forced myself to sleep until now GrinDH still napping though which is good, seeing as he does all the driving...looking forward to a fry up soon as he wakes Grin
And not going to lie - I'm very excited! Today is the day, and she's only 2.5 hours away!!

This is literally the maddest thing I've done for a long time and I've done some crazy stuff in my time, but I KNOW she is meant to be mine. It doesn't make sense but nevermind!

PosiePootlePerkins · 26/11/2017 07:27

Exciting!!! Good luck today! Gatekeeper it will be hard for you but you are doing the right thing to, both for Heidi and for your own Sherlock. I bet Stewpot will send you loads of pics and updates (and hopefully indulge us on this thread occasionally SmileWink)

StewPots · 26/11/2017 07:27

We have lined her travel crate with blankets and a cushion from home so she will get used to our scent and that of our house, hopefully she likes it! I haven't had time to pick up supplies for her yet, but luckily @Gatekeeper is providing essentials to tide us over :) I will get more bits on Monday/Tuesday.

Last pet we had was my darling Harry, a Staffy with the biggest heart I ever knew. He loved my mum's cat ( who used to regard him with utter distain and probably disgust too obviously) he used to cry at her to sit and play with him. I can't write about him much because my heart is broken with that right now SadBut I wonder what he would have thought of dear Heidi and vice versa. She sounds a lot more relaxed and friendly than mums cat (who was sweet and happy most of the time) so I reckon they would have got on.

I will have to get used to the fact, after 13 years of my Harry, that cats are NOT mobile waste disposal units like dogs GrinGrinHarry ate everything including your food by theft if he could reach GrinNaughty boy that he was.

It'll be strange to not give a pet leftovers for dinner or lob scraps into a massive grinning headGrinit will be much more civilised though, as cats just are.

Anyway sorry for the ramble! I miss Harry very very much, he was our world for 13 smelly funny noisy sloppy years, the only dog I will probably ever have, and I can't help but wonder what he would have thought of it all Grin

This wonderful thread must go in classics

StewPots · 26/11/2017 07:50

Saying that, one of PIL cats is nicknamed "BasketBall kitty" because she is a known food thief and will eat anything (albeit in tiny portions) but has a tummy like a mini basketball, and my last cat Alice used to love marmite on toast Grin

Harry , typical dog that he was, ate ridiculous amounts of anything from anywhere, including a bean tin and the netting from around a joint of beef from the bin once. That was fun trip to the vets. Part of me will miss that but the other part relieved obviously!

StewPots · 26/11/2017 07:53

Sorry, it feels sancrosanct to bring dogs to the litter tray, but i have been thinking about what Harry would have thought of her, and if it's because of him she is our new pet :) that sounds silly but something drew me to Heidi and I can't help but think if it's Harry. That makes me happy and sad at the same time SadSmile

StewPots · 26/11/2017 07:54

@Toooldtobearsed aww thank you again for your kind words and wishes! I was nearly up at 4 Grinvery excited for today :)

Tuttytoffee · 26/11/2017 08:23

Such a lovely story. If I hadn't of just let mine in from the garden i would of sworn this was our tink. Except she's a cow and hates people unless you have food. Good luck with the rest of your journey!

theliterarycat · 26/11/2017 08:38

What a fab thread. Can't wait to read more.
Lots of good things come out of the littertray.
