I’ve just learned that Casablanca is not in South America at all and is, in fact in Morocco! Who knew 🙄🤦🏼‍♀️
Anyone else got any tidbits they learned far too late in life?

Was anyone else surprised at how small moles are? Until I saw one (dead) for the first time, I thought they were more cat-sized.

quencher · 15/10/2017 18:16

I once met someone who argued for hours that “flip flops” were invented by a French man called Phillippe Fellope - absolutely wouldn’t have that she was wrong I am not going to google. Is this true Grin I really want it to be true

TheDodgyEnd · 15/10/2017 19:13

@ErrolTheDragon erm, sure?! Lol I’d be terrified to see a cat sized mole 😂

I’d be terrified to see a car-sized most anything if it wasn’t benignly inclined. Grin

cozietoesie · 15/10/2017 22:27

cat-sized

TheDodgyEnd · 15/10/2017 23:40

@cozietoesie crikey! A Car-Size mole would make me drop dead on the spot I reckon! Imagine the horror....

Rowtheboats

And...possibly even worse...that we have a hole for swallowing food, and a separate one for water- hence the saying 'it went down the wrong hole'

What on earth are you talking about?!?!?

There is one "hole" for both food and water - the aesophagus.

The "wrong hole" relates to the trachea - which is for breathing.

Air = trachea.
Food and water = aesophagus.

Weren't you taught basic biology at school?

If you need a more detailed layman's explanation its here:

Some crackers here!
It was only a few years ago I realised that earwigs can fly?! I really couldn't believe that one....more worryingly, it's only in the last five years I learned that we celebrate bonfire night because guy Fawkes was stopped in his tracks trying to blow up parliament! I always thought it was because he nearly succeeded! Blush. I'm 39!

DadDadDad · 23/10/2017 09:48

You mean you thought we were commemorating an act of liberation by Fawkes that would have freed us from the rule of James I? Fireworks to mark our disappointment that these terrorists didn't destroy Parliament?

Did you never think it strange that the "hero" Guy was thrown onto the bonfire?

TillyMint81 · 04/11/2017 07:35

That baby swim nappies don't hold in any pee. They are just designed to keep poo in. Blush

juddyrockingcloggs · 04/11/2017 08:11

I have just found out that the saying ‘shitting through the eye of an.....’ is ‘needle’ and not ‘eagle’.

I have been saying shitting through the eye of an eagle since forever! No one ever said anything!

TillyMint81 · 04/11/2017 13:27

CloggsGrinthat's brilliant!!!

Bluelonerose · 04/11/2017 13:30

I didn't know you could get turkeys all year round until a couple of years ago when I saw one in Tesco Blush

I also thought ide driven through Wales with my friends.
Apparently we hadn't been near Wales.
I was driving too Grin

Until very recently I thought penguins were about 6ft tall Blush in my defence whenever you see them on TV there’s no other objects (eg a person) to compare them against! My DP and work colleagues will never let me live this down!
