Loaves of bread

Borntoflyinfirst · 28/04/2017 07:48

My dog is scared of brown sauce, mint sauce, sweet & sour sauce etc. He literally runs away if he can smell them. Great big lab that eats everything else!

Hoppinggreen · 28/04/2017 08:03

People with their hood up

OdinsLoveChild · 28/04/2017 08:08

Bridges. He can't walk over a bridge if water is visible. I can't even carry him over because he turns into a nutcase if I do.

The other one is scared of crisp packets but only once they're empty. If they've still got crisps in then they're not scary. Hmm

MuffinMad · 28/04/2017 08:23

People with a hood up.
The washing machine.
The vacuum.
Hi Vis jackets.
Traffic wardens.
Window cleaner.
Motor bikes.
Fireworks.
The man who lives a few doors away.
The man who lives a few doors away's wife.

Think that's it. 😐

DDog is old now and placid now but when she was younger she was scared of

Wheely bins
Tussocks of grass
Large rocks (the really big ones used to stop vehicles driving into parks)
Pushchairs
Bicycles
Scooters
Children

We live near a school and I learned never to take her out at 3.30 as all children think she is cute and must try to pet her, this leading to major panic attacks and rolling about on the pavement in wide eyed frothing terror, followed by screaming children and angry glares from parents at rabid dog behaviour Blush

Eventually the last four were cured after the birth of DD. Poor DDog, she didn't have a lot of choice then Smile

MrsJayy · 28/04/2017 11:09

Wheelie bin lid opening closing is fine
Rubbish Bags coming off the roll he runs and hides
Washing flapping on the line
Empty cups
Are his current end of the world scary scary things next week it could all change.

BertrandRussell · 28/04/2017 11:12

Ors runs away when she sees a bottle of wine being opened. Terrified of the pop........

MrsJayy · 28/04/2017 11:12

The neighbours teeny tiny yorkshire terrier honestly scares him half to death as it toddles past the window

TondelayaDellaVentamiglia · 28/04/2017 11:15

The stairs. Not all stairs, just the stairs in the house.

he's a great hulking GSD...we used to do agility, and he was supposed to be a guide dog, so he is pretty bombproof, but even the fear of being more than five feet away from me cannot entice him up the stairs at home.

and the hoover....but that's pretty standard.

Other one is not scared of anything. At all.

10Betty10 · 28/04/2017 11:19

Anything placed on the right hand side of the stairs- keys/post/bags. On one occasion a BUSINESS CARD.

Flared jeans (although perhaps she has a point...)

Heeled boots

Biscuits that have fallen out of the bowl.

MrsJayy · 28/04/2017 11:22

Leaflets and those charity bags have to die the actual mail is safe though he goes nuts at charity bags

MrsPMT · 28/04/2017 11:31

love the thread, was going to say nothing as DDog is very bold, she was one of the smallest in her litter but is practically fearless.

But remembered snowmen (that we haven't made ourselves), random snowmen in a park, she will bark at and act very unsure.

And getting a bath or washed, freaks out, mud doesn't stick much so its been ok just giving her a rub down with a towel when she's mucky.

abbreviationhell · 28/04/2017 12:17

Tiled or shiny floors. Some of ours are tiled and a bit shiny but she's ok with them Confused

Avocuddle · 28/04/2017 12:29

Abbreviation my mum had to get a huge rug to cover 90% of her wooden floor because her dogs freak at the tapping sound their claws make!

I'm laughing at this thread, but also beginning to think I should start making a (very long!) list of things to introduce our puppy to when he arrives next week...
Will it make a difference, do you think?

Fiona1984 · 28/04/2017 14:13

My dog loves the hoover, it's the cat thats terrified. The cat was also frightened of pumpkins.
The dog doesn't seem scared by much. He does bark at black people, men in hats, horses and the colour red though.

NoYouDontKnowItAll · 28/04/2017 14:20

My rottie hated flashing lights so one time when the police turned up he went for them shit and I got a bit of a fierce grilling about why my dog doesn't like police. He was an old rescue dog so I had no idea why. I can only assume it was something to do with flashing lights because he'd always go mad at those small council street cleaning vehicles with the orange lights on.

mydogmymate · 28/04/2017 14:23

Biggest mistake I made with my lab was to go in the car wash. He was so scared he wet himself and I felt awful afterwards. I now can't use the petrol station next door because he remembers.
Also, the wooden bridge over the river that's his favourite walk. I'm sure he thinks there's trolls underneath!!

ono40 · 28/04/2017 14:25

Anything that beeps eg
microwave
soup maker (that one's particularly terrifying!)
burglar alarm when the power goes off
beeps on TV programmes
resetting the radio alarm clock

He turns into a quivering wreck and his whole body shakes. No idea why but he is a rescue.

TWOBANANAS · 28/04/2017 14:26

Mine is scared of our cat

TWOBANANAS · 28/04/2017 14:28

Oh and our local Co-op, I have to cross the street as she won't walk past it.

Elphaba99 · 28/04/2017 15:24

Oh, this is making me feel so much better. Grin

So glad my idiot dog isn't the only one scared of his own farts. As soon as he pops, he shoots forward as if he's been catapulted. Runs away from the fart then glares at one of us as though we've made the gas escape from his bum.

Also scared of:

Rain (just the noise)
Wind
Fireworks and thunder (fair enough)
But also anything that even vaguely resembles fireworks or thunder (including the noise of wheely bins)
Neighbours making any noise in their gardens
Birds singing (yes, really).

MrsJayy · 28/04/2017 15:27

Atm he is whinging at something behind the shed i have investigated there is nothing there that wasn't there yesterday 😕
