Just been outside the feed the cat who has his food in the outhouse. There, hanging from the old pipework are 3 absolutely huge cocoons. They are hideous! Black and more than 4 inches long. They weren't there yesterday. What the hell is going to come out? AIBU to be very worried?

Have you phoned Rentokill yet? Agree it looks fungal and if it's spreading that rapidly I'd want it sorted.

Can I recommend Dettol bleach for mould and mildew - in the green bottle. I LOVE the stuff and I reckon that will sort that out with a few squirts

If course it's a fungus. Those posting cocoon pics saying it's that should look at the pics they are posting. A cocoon is not ridged all the way up,it smooths out where the wings are,which is a clearly defined pattern! This thing is ridged all the way,covered I powdery stuff and has no visible wing place thingy
