...less depressing. .. I love The Haywain www.nationalgallery.org.uk/paintings/john-constable-the-hay-wain ...just a moment of everyday, captured so simply and calmly.

I have four particular Turners I used to go sit and look at whenever I was in London. I managed to get DP to the Tate once, to show him what I was banging on about, and all of them were in store! Grrr...

This is one of them: Snow Storm - Steam Boat off a Harbour's Mouth

I hope they don't fuck up in the new film...

MooseBeTimeForSnow · 07/03/2015 19:48

This is my current favourite. It is called "Leave a Mark" by a local artist called Lucas Seaward. He paints using bitumen. I'm in the "oil sands" of Alberta, Canada

MooseBeTimeForSnow · 07/03/2015 19:49

His animal paintings are pretty awesome too

It is, isn't it Dharma? Loads of Peter Lanyon's are amazing.

I love Frida Kahlo too squizita, and Diego Rivera's murals too.

MrsWembley did you get to the Late Turner exhibition at the Tate? Snow Storm blew me away.

Lanyon was really influenced by Turner, something that really made sense to me after going to the exhibition. Both painted a lot of storms at sea.

This is another good one.

MrsWembley we're watching Mr Turner tonight - I loved it when we saw it at the cinema and the story of Snow Storm is a key part of the film.

I like Venus Rising. From a seashell. Also like Cherry Ripe of a young child in mob cap with basket of cherries. I had a jigsaw of it when I was young.

TheCunnyFunt · 07/03/2015 20:52

The Persistence Of Memory, I just love it. I have done ever since I first saw it as a child!

I saw Henri Rousseau's The Snake Charmer in the Musee d'Orsay and went back several times for another look. It's a shame this isn't a terribly good picture of it. In real life the colours are vibrant, beautiful and intoxicating.

alittleegglayonaleaf · 07/03/2015 21:13

Wow mrswembley they are captivating, thank you for sharing

Ruhrpott · 07/03/2015 21:15
