I'm getting sick and tired of dinosaurs being forced on our children

I'm really concerned about dinosaurs, and I think something needs to be done. The science behind them is pretty flimsy, and I for one do not want my children being taught lies. Did you know that nobody had even heard of dinosaurs before the 1800s, when they were invented by curio-hungry Victorians?

Charles Darwin's later theory of evolution entirely disproved dinosaurs, yet the dinosaur lie was twisted and adapted to try to make it fit. Any proper look at the facts will reveal that dinosaurs simply never existed.

Aside from the educational aspect, dinosaurs are a very bad example for children. At my children's school, several children were left in tears after one of their classmates (who had evidently been exposed to dinosaurs), became bestially-minded and ran around the classroom roaring and pretending to be a dinosaur. Then he bit three children on the face. One poor girl has been left with a severely dented nose and the whole class was left traumatised by this horrible display.

Nothing about dinosaurs is suitable for children, from their total lack of family values through to their non-existence from any serious scientific point of view.

Recently my sister foolishly gave my two youngest some dinosaurs toys for Christmas. After telling her to get out of my house I burnt the dinosaurs. My children were delighted because they know that dinosaurs are evil. I am fortunate that my family has been very supportive, and has disowned my children's former aunt.

Please, do what you can to get dinosaurs taken off the curriculum. Our school has been recently presented with a 214-signature petition, and following that and our recent protest the headmaster has said that he will take it the governors. We are lucky that he is so sympathetic to our cause, but I fear that others may not be.

If you would like to lend your support to our campaign, we have a Facebook group where we spread facts and research about the dinosaur myth. Hope to see you there! :-)

Surely chorlton the happiness dragon was real?
I'm sure he had great family values

Hurr1cane · 08/02/2015 07:50

Oh yeah actually.... The creationist I know thinks that dinosaurs and humans lived side by side for a time.

bigbluestars · 08/02/2015 07:57

My sister is a pastor and also believes than man and dinosaur lived together.
Yabba dabba doo!!

bigbluestars · 08/02/2015 07:57

OriginalHugsy · 08/02/2015 08:09

Ohwhatfuckeryisthis · 08/02/2015 09:44

Lesley, Dire wolves were real though. (But we only know from fossils, so that's dangerously close to dinosaurs, so maybe they didn't. Aargh!)
And as for the heavy metal link-I knew ds1 had been looking extra shifty of late.

fattymcfatfat · 08/02/2015 10:08

I listen to metal. ...whats that got to do with non existent dinos???

JimmyChoosChimichanga · 08/02/2015 10:26

BoreOfWhabylon · 08/02/2015 10:49

Hakluyt, I've done a bit of digging around and discovered this blogpost from several years ago, which attributes the whole dino denial thing to one David P Wozney - a batshit Canadian fundamentalist who spends a lot of time denyng the moon landings and preparing for Rapture.

Looks as if David P has picked up some believers along the way and a whole lot more pisstakers.

Am convinced that the OP is in the latter category Grin

fattymcfatfat · 08/02/2015 11:20

Confused Confused

Lonecatwithkitten · 08/02/2015 13:16

I am confused my DD hated dinosaurs would not have anything with them on or read about them. Cried till we left the exhibit at the Natural History Museum. Her distress was so great over them that preschool choose to skip that topic for her year group.
Why then did she bite other children as a toddler?
Why now as a preteen does she shout, stomp about and create a big mess?
Surely none of this should be happening as she was not exposed to the awful dinosaur influence.

AnnieLobeseder · 08/02/2015 13:22

That's true, InAndOfMyself, we saw dinosaurs on the Isle of Wight last summer.

lemisscared · 08/02/2015 13:26

If dinosaurs aren't real then what was jurrasic park all about then?

liquidstateisonthemulled · 08/02/2015 13:50

I am an archaeologist and have never stroked a dinosaur bone sadly as I specialize in post medieval architecture. But I did once drop a mammoth tusk when unloading a van - oops.

derekazrael · 08/02/2015 13:52

You have trouble believing in dinosaurs but have no issues believing in god. 1 a proven species to have existed and evolved the other a character from a storybook??
I feel for the children.Sad

Jasonandyawegunorts · 08/02/2015 14:00

I'm getting sick and tired of children being forced on to dinosaurs...

It's a health and safety hazard, they could fall off.

Lweji · 08/02/2015 14:20

Worse, dinosaurs being forced on children. They are lucky they haven't been crushed yet.

nickelbarapasaurus · 08/02/2015 14:25

i want to know about animals that existed at the samehe dinosaurs.

I watch the documentary Dinosaur Train, and they have quite a lot of creatures that live in the mesosoic era that aren't dinosaurs but live with dinosaurs.
Are they not real either?

tinklykeys · 08/02/2015 14:28

boreofwhabylon Also convinced op is in the piss take category.

I only mentioned the heavy metal thing because most genuine fundamentalist creationist types would be very against rock music (work of the devil etc), so if the admin people on the cad Facebook page are into heavy metal it seems quite inconsistent with the people they are purporting to be.

Ergo

This is a windup designed to make Christians look silly. And whoever these people are, they are not Christians! As someone else said upthread, too many inconsistencies.

Lweji · 08/02/2015 14:30

Apparently they are real, just not dinosaurs.
There is much less money on pterosaurs than dinosaurs, probably.

fattymcfatfat · 08/02/2015 14:38

tinkley the theory that rock music is devil worship is crap! theres actually a few songs about god and forgiveness etc! but I know some very shallow people that believe I am a satanist because of the music I enjoy, my son cant wear the clothes he wants for own clothes day etc (he is six) because of this belief and he would get bullied for it (the kid loves a bit of maiden!) so its not just Christians that think this way, I found its actually the majority of people that do Sad its very sad as people should be able to listen to whatever they want without judgement.
