I'm getting sick and tired of dinosaurs being forced on our children

I'm really concerned about dinosaurs, and I think something needs to be done. The science behind them is pretty flimsy, and I for one do not want my children being taught lies. Did you know that nobody had even heard of dinosaurs before the 1800s, when they were invented by curio-hungry Victorians?

Charles Darwin's later theory of evolution entirely disproved dinosaurs, yet the dinosaur lie was twisted and adapted to try to make it fit. Any proper look at the facts will reveal that dinosaurs simply never existed.

Aside from the educational aspect, dinosaurs are a very bad example for children. At my children's school, several children were left in tears after one of their classmates (who had evidently been exposed to dinosaurs), became bestially-minded and ran around the classroom roaring and pretending to be a dinosaur. Then he bit three children on the face. One poor girl has been left with a severely dented nose and the whole class was left traumatised by this horrible display.

Nothing about dinosaurs is suitable for children, from their total lack of family values through to their non-existence from any serious scientific point of view.

Recently my sister foolishly gave my two youngest some dinosaurs toys for Christmas. After telling her to get out of my house I burnt the dinosaurs. My children were delighted because they know that dinosaurs are evil. I am fortunate that my family has been very supportive, and has disowned my children's former aunt.

Please, do what you can to get dinosaurs taken off the curriculum. Our school has been recently presented with a 214-signature petition, and following that and our recent protest the headmaster has said that he will take it the governors. We are lucky that he is so sympathetic to our cause, but I fear that others may not be.

If you would like to lend your support to our campaign, we have a Facebook group where we spread facts and research about the dinosaur myth. Hope to see you there! :-)

Dragons are OK, Lesley, they're in the Bible.

TyrannosaurusBex · 07/02/2015 23:11

What's a shill? Who's Big Paleo? Am I going to have to change my user name? I'd clutch my pearls but my useless little arms can't reach them! Sad

Lweji · 07/02/2015 23:13

pirate dinosaurs?

Bloody hell. That's even more discusting than just plain pirates or dinosaurs.
Because they do not exist, do they sail in a ghost ship (ghosts exist) as skeletons, and turn into real dinosaurs only when the full moon shines?

PatriciaHolm · 07/02/2015 23:13

Surely you can mop those tears with some of the many £50 notes you have from being a stooge to Big Paleo, Annie?

LesleyKnopeFan · 07/02/2015 23:13

Trex Grin at useles, tiny arms. Brilliant Grin

AnnieLobeseder · 07/02/2015 23:34

So it seem we're late to the party and BabyCenter (US version) had this fun conversation years ago.

I'm getting sick and tired of dinosaurs being forced on our children
Tangofandango · 07/02/2015 23:46

Well what about Marc Bolan??? He WAS T Rex - and I know he existed 'cos I met him!

PatriciaHolm · 07/02/2015 23:47

Woah hands Annie research gold medal

AnnieLobeseder · 07/02/2015 23:51

Well, Patricia, I am an actual scientists and a proper Dr, you know. Research is what I do! Grin But like medals. Shiny!

Lweji · 07/02/2015 23:54

I want a medal too!

I actually do work with phylogenetic trees and all.

Sad to have missed on all the money I didn't know there was on paleontology, though. Kicks herself.

PatriciaHolm · 07/02/2015 23:56

Never too late, Lweji! Big paleo is everywhere, you know! Just bury a few clay bones in your local field, everyone is at it you know!

Lweji · 08/02/2015 00:00

I will be going to the butchers tomorrow and ask for a big bone. Start it off...

ouryve · 08/02/2015 00:06

Boulevard you can still petrify things at Mother Shipton's cave in Knaresborough.

ouryve · 08/02/2015 00:11

In honour of this thread, I am listening to Aqualung.

ClotheMeNow · 08/02/2015 00:38

OP - you cannot be from the UK. You must be from the States, correct?

You deny the existence of dinosaurs, however there have been several films and series about them. have you never seen the documentary "Jurassic Park'? Therefore I have evidence they exist, I have seen them with my own eyes.

DropYourSword · 08/02/2015 01:53

I joined the Facebook group. It's not half as much fun as this thread!

Cenicienta · 08/02/2015 03:04

This thread is hilarious!

However loads of things the OP and his / her supporters say just don't add up! For e.g. at one point the OP uses an example from Buddhism. A Christian of the persuasion the OP wants us to believe they are would NEVER use an example from another religion.

Also the arguments are flimsy! A true fundamentalist would be keen to quote Bible verses albeit out of context to support their argument, and would mention God a lot more.

So this is either someone who is trying to discredit Christians generally, or someone who wants their thread to become a classic!

But it has made me smile :-)

Hakluyt · 08/02/2015 06:59

I'm still not convinced that it's not all a hoax- surely they can't really believe this stuff? I mean I've known some religious nuts in my time..........

Hurr1cane · 08/02/2015 07:10

Hakluyt... I've known people who seriously do not believe in evolution, so I can believe that this is real.

However, as another poster said, those people would never talk about what another religion teaches, so maybe the poster was just winding people up to see the response.

Jasonandyawegunorts · 08/02/2015 07:16

The thing is, there is no reason to deny dinosaurs exist just because you back evolution, in fact, one of the early theories about them was that they were the remains of a species which died in the great flood.

Admittedly i'm getting this half remembered information from a character Peter Falk played in the BBC "the lost world" miniseries....

Jasonandyawegunorts · 08/02/2015 07:18

You could move to Swindon Alice, they now have indoor toilets and electricity!

Jasonandyawegunorts · 08/02/2015 07:19

Blush Wrong thread...

Hakluyt · 08/02/2015 07:21

Oh, I know creationists too- but nobody who believes that dinosaurs simply didn't exist- just that they existed at ridiculous times.......

Mixtape · 08/02/2015 07:26

tango you met Marc Bolan?!

Bolshybookworm · 08/02/2015 07:29

My Gran doesn't believe in dinosaurs (or evolution), but she's in her 90s and also believes computers are evil, so it's not likely to be her. It's fair to say, she was not happy when we went through our Jurassic Park obsession Grin

The rest of my uber-religious relatives have no problem with dinosaurs, and believe in evolution, albeit that it vaguely conforms to the timeline of genesis (using days metaphorically rather than literally).
