I bet there's been one of these before but who remembers stuff about the 70's, looking back to me it was all a bit weird.

So some of my memories.

Mary Mungo and midge, the music in the lift. my orange space hopper, gridsy marbles and clackers.
Dehydrated potato, free milk you had to drink at school.
Playing out from after breakfast until dark or tea.

The Summertime Special! (Come on board!)
Long, ribbony pieces of plastic flowing out of your bike handlebars.
Mum having to rock her white Ford Cortina with fins at the back, to get it going in the morning.
Cadbury' s Icebreaker chocolate.
Peeling bags of fresh carrots to put into this new contraption called a freezer.
Waiting, on Sunday, with a bowl, for the ice cream van, to fill it up to go with pudding (Apple pie) for Sunday Dinner before freezers
Mum & Dad pushing a trolley each round Tesco, me go I g with 1 of them & my twin with the other, so that we could buy 2 bags of sugar, not 1! Blush

Two balls against the wall. Whitsuntide parades. The cinema with one huge screen which was revealed when the red velvet curtains opened. Letting the dog out - in those days dogs ( and children) were allowed to roam freely. Girls' Brigade. Small children in big knitted bonnets.

Does anyone remember those furry bin covers and 'gonks' you won at the fair? And knitted dolly toilet roll covers? And izal medicated toilet roll? Making 'guiders' ( go carts ) with pram wheels? And the 'pop' man?

MeredithLogue · 24/04/2017 20:25

Shaker makers, yes!

Sunshine, long hot summers. Riding bikes all day till dinner time. Spangles, lemonade sparkle ice lolly's. Taking risks without parents knowing, or caring too much. Family holidays, camping by the sea. Paddling pools and garden hoses. Best ever Christmas-es, bulging stockings, so exciting, so wonderful, never to be experienced again. Open fires, coal sheds, playing in the garden, climbing trees. Desperately wanting a chopper, never getting one, wanting a Sasha doll, not getting that either. Tiny tears, lego. Multi-colored swap shop. Brown nylon satin nightdresses from M&S. Wood smoke on the breeze at the beginning of the autumn term. Mince and mashed potatoes, Sunday roast round a table.

Oh my goodness Pippa Dolls! I loved them so much. Also had a Bionic Woman doll because I was jealous of my brother's six million dollar man doll. I loved her, she had long straight hair and a pink jumpsuit.
