One idle google and 10 minutes later dd and I have a pan full for lunch, it's lovely.

It was bad enough finding out about cleaning washing machines, and Veet to unclog hairy plug holes.... and now you failed to tell me this Angry

Well you horrible lot, what else have you being holding out on, and keeping from me?????

tantrumsandballoons · 01/03/2012 11:27

Haven't done it!
Not going do it!

I am strong.

Byeckerslike · 01/03/2012 11:43

GOOD GRIEF! Right, i know i asked for it but....

tantrumsandballoons · 01/03/2012 12:31

Still not looked

But don't want to have to take eyes out with spoons

Someone change the subject please.....

stealthsquiggle · 01/03/2012 12:54

You know that flexitol has wee in it well, urea, actually, right, Grimma?

LackaDAISYcal · 01/03/2012 13:00

Well, I clicked...shuddery though it is, I want to know what on earth is wrong with that woman's breast Confused

Now, who knows how to clean up very elderly upvc window frames?

TheOneWithTheHair · 01/03/2012 13:03

It's not the same picture that Vivi and I looked at which was actually fake anyway but this one is bad enough.

Magic sponge for old upvc window frames.

tantrumsandballoons · 01/03/2012 13:19

"please can we change the subject?"

Did you know flexitol has wee in it"

Oh yeah, that's much better :)

tantrumsandballoons · 01/03/2012 13:21

Magic sponge?
What, actual magic?

garlicbutter · 01/03/2012 13:23

Video real, photo fake, infection exists. I caught one of them things what burrow into your toes once. A guy on the beach dug it out for me I caught a tick once, too, from a walk in England. I fecking HATE Nature!!

No Magic Erasers in Aldi this week, so am wrestling with my anti-workfare conscience about whether to try the pound shop. What I really need is a workfarer to come and sort my house out. I shall reward them with mountains of chocolate cookies and a political education ... any takers?
Thought not.

tantrumsandballoons · 01/03/2012 13:30

Still not clicking but liking the idea of workfare person in my house (even though I know it's WRONG)

ViviPru · 01/03/2012 14:01

I have another question. I use Fairy Platinum dishwasher capsules. I've tried a couple of other brands but they don't seem to get the load as clean. So everything is clean -great - BUT all of my utensils/pots/plates/glasses etc stink of the capsules. Its not a completely awful smell, but its a smell nonetheless that I'd rather not have altogether.

Anyone got any good DW capsule recommendations?

GrimmaTheNome · 01/03/2012 14:21

You know that flexitol has wee in it well, urea, actually, right, Grimma?

flexitol has urea in it. Wee has urea in it. Wee also contains water and salt... so, you've got a problem drinking and using salt too have you? Give me strenght Hmm (I've a couple of chemistry degrees, this really is a piece of piss to me Grin)

LackaDAISYcal · 01/03/2012 14:59

I like Asda basics dishwasher tablets...they get things clean, don't leave a powder residue, and don't leave streaks/marks on stainless steel like some well known brands...and only £1.80 for 30. Think you might need rinse aid and salt with them though.

What is the salt for in a dishwasher? I just blindly pour it in cos it says so in the manual!

I now feel sick after reading that first link and am joining the trypophobes.

Will keep an eye out for magic sponges in Aldi.

ViviPru · 01/03/2012 15:04

Thanks, Lacka, I'll give them a go :)

GrimmaTheNome · 01/03/2012 15:05

What is the salt for in a dishwasher?
Its needed to soften the water. Unless you live in a very soft water area anyway in which case you may not need any at all. You should be able to find out from your water company's website how hard your water is, and then from the DW manual whether this means you need salt or not. In my part of lancashire, I don't.

As to DW tabs... I'm back to Finish after the Morrisons own brand seemed to be taking the glaze off our plates.

ViviPru · 01/03/2012 15:09

Finish, eh?

GrimmaTheNome · 01/03/2012 15:12

'Only' £7 for 52 in Sainsbos this week. Usually about £13 for the v big box. If your plates can stand own brand, Finish is a rip off. If they can't - better than ruining the china.

Byeckerslike · 01/03/2012 15:31

The aldi complete dw tablets have won awards and they have been raving about them on the radio last week.

I use them, they are excellent, cant remember how much they are though

I cannot believe i clicked that first link, i am utterly violated!

WitchOfEndor · 01/03/2012 15:45

Ok, so I have been lurking for a while and you all spurred me on to attempt cleaning the oven for the first time in two years. I was happily scraping crunchy stuff from the bottom when I realised that what I was removing wasn't burnt crispy bits, it was too smooth, shiny and black for that. Oh no, I was removing the cracked base of the oven! How the hell did I manage that with only a damp non stick scourer and a tiny bit of Aldi washing up liquid? I hope we don't need a new oven, we've only just forked out £250 for a new gas valve to get the heating working again.

Do I keep schtum and stick the dinner on or come clean to DH and risk a new oven and being forbidden to clean again hold on a minute, that sounds like a result to me

smartiesrule · 01/03/2012 15:49

Aaaaaaaarrrgh!
Garlicbutter that's FOUL!
That video will haunt me till I die. Where do you find these things? I am obviously not using google to its full advantage.

garlicbutter · 01/03/2012 16:00

Witch - option 2, definitely Grin

smartie ... I know.

WitchOfEndor · 01/03/2012 16:07

On the plus side, my maintenance wash is going swimmingly and more importantly those hole pictures don't freak me out, not even a little bit!

TheOneWithTheHair · 01/03/2012 16:24

Good for you. It is the fake photo in the video link that we saw and freaked me out. I just put my hand over the screen when I had confirmed it was the right one. I don't want regression on this. :(

Byeckerslike · 01/03/2012 17:48

Luckily thank fuck the video wont ay on my ipad... The picture is bad enough
