do you ever find left over notes in shopping torlleys or elsewhere? i

i am vaguely intrigued by these as identified in teh times
"Discarded notes are rubbish to most people, but not for worldwide subscribers to Found, which reprints them. The magazine?s publisher, Davy Rothbart, gets bundles sent to his office in Michigan. Laura Kwerel, a radio producer in Washington, was ?overwhelmed? after reading one issue. ?I realise now,? she says, ?that there is more humanity in a discarded grocery list than in a thousand-page novel.? Some people need to get out more. "

Cod - i concede to your greater being - this thread has considerably warmed up since my last look at it!

Was pmsl at "last tango in paris" post.....

fullmoonfiend · 05/02/2006 11:55

Proud to say this thread has been on my watch list since jan 14 and get a snigger out of it every day. (And if there's no snigger-factor I re-read spreadable butt and Bear's Butt-hinges (IYKWIM) and am snurking all over again. DH thinks it's barking but still demands daily updates . Race is still on for someone to find another MNetter list-nicking in your local store. Go go go!

nitfreecod · 05/02/2006 12:14

Got one today in Waitrose in Abingdon. It?s big, though, but well organised. Written on the back of some instructions to a babysitter by the looks of things, as the reverse says ?TV on kid?s channel already? (their apostrophe), then ?Rachel? and a mobile phone number. Below it says ?Snack? with an arrow pointing down to the bottom of the page.

The list itself is on lined paper, which has then had vertical lines drawn over it, to create a grid. And it goes like this:

Avocadoes
Bananas
Cucumber x 2
Spinach
Apples
Peppers
Hummous
Dips
Mild cheddar
Cheese slices
Cream cheese
Marge
Plum yog
Little yogs
Eggs

Next column:
Plain flour
Baking powder
Caster sugar
Soft brown sugar
Vanilla es/ (essence ? I?m thinking a child?s birthday party is being planned here)
Plates/cups
CANDLES etc
60W Bayonet candle bulb
Tinned pineapple
Apple juice
OJ
Fizzy water
Lemonade.

Next column:
Crackers ? free from
Apricot bars
Biscuits/choc fingers (definitely a kids? party)
Bread ? white sliced
SODA (bread rather than drinks?)
Crisps (grown up)
Little cakes
Choc cake/carrot cake
Sausage rolls
Nibbles
Bread sticks
Wipes
Toilet roll
Nappies x 2
CRISPS (tots)
Apricot bars (again?)
Biscotti (that?s Waitrose for you - a better class of biscuit!)
Dishwasher tabs.

There?s definitely one or more kids? parties on the cards. It also has a supplementary list of things to do on the reverse of the list ?

Birthday cake [arrow pointing to] M+S/market
Pitt Rivers museum ? bits (I?m guessing for posh party bags?) ? SAT AM
Little bags ? x10 ? card shop
Ethan present/Noah presents (why does Ethan only get one and Noah gets 2? Seems a bit unfair to me).

Blimey ? bit of a mammoth one, sorry! I was excited out of all proportion to find one. Made my morning.

alexsmum · 05/02/2006 17:17

thewomanwhothoughtshewasahat · 05/02/2006 20:08

I like Jackieno's one - it all sounds very dignified and organised. If a shopping list can be dignified.

VeniVidiVickiQV · 05/02/2006 21:03

I thought we had stumbled on a new way of measuring narcotics.
They do say you can buy anything in supermarkets now

alexsmum · 06/02/2006 10:22

she wants to buy romania? a country? isn't this a little ambitious for the supermarket? maybe she has just won the euromillions and has thought to herself' yes i know i'll buy a country and be the queen and impose lots of crazy rules....verybody will hve to wear a green hat on a sunday' that sort of thing?

Have just noticed this on back of list 3.

6 small pies
1/2 lamb cubes
3/4 bacon
2 large pies
1/2 bacon

This has just made this my favourite list out of the three.

ICindigo · 06/02/2006 15:13

Kind of related to this-- I used to work for tesco (yes i was a checkout chick!-lol) and there were some odd combinations... There was a young girl and her boyfrien who bougt 2 pregnancy tests and a bumper pack of condoms, i just thought to myself
"Unlucky if thats positive love you will have wasted a fiver on something you wont need for a few months!!!"
it is very unusual...

tiredemma · 06/02/2006 15:19

at tesco's yesterday, standing at exit, waiting for dp to get to me from checkout.

young couple walk in-
HER- have you got the list?

HIM- what list?

HER- the list!- the shopping list! what other list would I mean???

HIM- er, no- do we really need it? i know what we need.

HER- you know what you need you mean.< walked off shaking head and tutting.>

wonder what was on it?!

wabbitintheheadlamps · 06/02/2006 15:30

Hey Cod - more Cubes!!!

LAMB cubes this time! Wonder if Bear likes them any better than Beef Cubes - they're only half ones so maybe a bit more paletable
