is "wild man of Borneo " just remembered

adamschic · 21/10/2011 21:04

Now I do feel old. Autumn Watch is on with that Michaela one ofof 'the hitman and her.' I felt past it when I watched that programme, pissed in the early hours of a Sun morning, me at 28 with my 23 yr old toyboy.

sorry have been off line entertaining another one of my ancient friends but am delighted that narkier tones on this thread have ignited some fabulous MN fireworks

Sue(etc) I salute you for itemising all that is wonderful about an older (sentient) brain's take on the world.

All you who suck up Heat every week and all of those silly ladies mags (who else has given up on them?) Everyone of us except Liz Jones probably. Life is so much wider than our poorer younger sisters who are enslaved by thinking being perceived as gorgeous is the way to get ahead - you only have to look at the behaviour of 11 year old girls posting inappropriately on Facebook to feel sad about the lives of younger women. Right nuff said I'm off to put on my night cape and have a cup of horlicks.

Mandy2003 · 21/10/2011 21:11

Night cape! Ooh, wants one!

microfight · 21/10/2011 21:14

What the jeffers is a night cape? Like a bed jacket?

BellaDonnaSansMerci · 21/10/2011 21:17

Giving a shit about birds Grin

Pagwatch · 21/10/2011 21:21

It is a bed jacket. A night cape is something a super hero with poor circulation would wear.

adamschic · 21/10/2011 21:23

'Night Cape' I thought gawd that poster called Cape goes to bed early Grin.

'Giving a shit about birds' made me laugh but then I remembered that I work for an environmental organisation and there are alot of youngsters that give a shit about birds and stuff so guess us normal lesser mortals just catch up with them.

ThePathanKhansWitch · 21/10/2011 21:30

Popsocks.

Mandy2003 · 21/10/2011 21:31

Yes, popsocks. A cruel invention designed for the varicose-veined.

SuePurblybiltFromBitsofCorpses · 21/10/2011 21:32

I have seen them actually, in charity shops and on norty seaside postcards. I thought they'd died out. Clearly not Grin.

Pagwatch · 21/10/2011 21:46

What, birds?

Mandy2003 · 21/10/2011 21:48

When I was working in the charity shop today (honest!) I was sorting the knitting patterns and I found some for bedjackets, and some for ponchos, but none for night capes Envy

Maryz - I guess your DD's school doesn't have the 9" school skirts (hopes!)

SuePurblybiltFromBitsofCorpses · 21/10/2011 21:48

YY. Pervy seaside postcards of Dodos.

No, night capes. Tied with ribbon.

I havnt read the whole post, but, I work in retail. And middle aged women are the worst! Really snide and talk down to me (I am at management level) they are so so so rude and really difficult.out of all my customers this group are (generally speaking) the ones at cause the most problems. I honestly think that if most middle aged women saw how they behaved they would be ashamed.

SuePurblybiltFromBitsofCorpses · 21/10/2011 21:56

ROAR

RTFT. Just RTFT.

mutha2two · 21/10/2011 21:56

Ok I meant bed jacket - was clearly having a senior moment.

JamieComeHome · 21/10/2011 21:58

Oooh. Have thought of something for the list. Don't know if it's been mentioned because I can't be arsed to wade through 23 pages of raillery, but

Pubic Hair.
