I know there was no time and I feel all weighed down with the responsibility of it all, but here we are ladies, a new home...

Er, did you get any gin??

MarsLady · 25/04/2009 19:28

Welcome Blue. Truly pyschotic on the TAMBA threads. I tell all multi mums to stay far far far away from them

BlueEyedMaid · 25/04/2009 19:42

Oh yes, about the psychos - there was mainly one. She took massive offense after I posted in my boredom some years ago about a stupid programme I should have known better than to watch. It was one of those rubbish documentaries on Ch 5 about weird ID twins who'd always been dressed alike and addressed jointly as 'sis' because their parents couldn't be bothered to work out who was who and were still dressing alike and unable to have a relationship with anybody else at the age of 40 etc etc. Depressing and annoying.

So in my baby boredom I said something about these twins' parents clearly being a bit nuts. This particular woman took what I said highly personally (are you saying I'm nuts? etc) and went into a crazed rage on this massively tense thread. This was followed by all sorts of odd cloak and dagger behaviour where people were sending me secret personal messages of support because they were to afraid to say openly that she was, well, a bit nuts. I think the thread ended up being deleted - suffice to say I never went back and stayed away from online forums for over 2 years before recently finding MN to my massive relief.

I have no idea what Tamba is like now - I found it quite useful in the beginning, esp before having twins, but I did find it cliquey and there was a weird culture of people not being allowed to say how they really felt about anything - especially when it came to dressing ID twins alike it seemed - as some people could not handle disagreement. Seems a bit pointless to post on an anonymous forum if you can't be honest there of all places. So - cheers to MN !

BlueEyedMaid · 25/04/2009 19:48

Oh I'd love some gin... In fact, just turned down DH's kind offer of gin martini as not sure I'm allowed two martinis on one weekend. Did stupid online test about alcohol consumption which said I'm in the 'danger zone' . On the other hand, as hoping to conceive DC3 sometime soon, maybe I should let rip ...?

1stMrsF · 25/04/2009 21:15

Yes, that does sound like psycho behaviour. Interesting...

BlueEyedMaid · 25/04/2009 22:15

Hi MrsF - well, yes - it was a bit weird, but hopefully the psycho's had a word with herself since then. Interesting to hear Mars say something in the same vein though - what were your experiences of Tamba world?

Congrats on the imminent birth of your girls MrsF - you probably know this already but just in case I can't resist passing up the chance of airing one of my all time favourite bees in bonnet, i.e. that if you've been told that your girls will definitely be non-id due to two placentas & sacs, it's not necessarily so. I has two sacs & placentas and was told there was a 20% chance they'd be ID. Which they were. Had to have a DNA test to confirm it - some days they looked alike and other days not. Turns out 1/3 of ID twins have the 2 sac thing, but a lot of medical people still haven't quite got that.

Either way - exciting times ahead for you - good luck! And as for the gin, well, I settled for a G&T. Life is short, etc.

tkband3 · 26/04/2009 09:17

BlueEyedMaid, I remember that thread very well! I too am a refugee from the TAMBA board - I gave up with them quite a while ago as well, but luckily found this place soon after (although I see I've been forgotten FG? serves me right for staying away so long ). We were probably on TAMBA at the same time as my girls are 4. I got fed up with it after the episode with that troll Amber who posted that long story about the fire - remember that one? She had the triplets who were swimming lengths at 3 . There was all a bit too much 'hun'-ing going on for me . But I did find it an enormous support when I was pregnant with my girls and when they were new and I think it's sad now that you have to be a member to even look at the message boards - far too exclusive for my liking!

Mars, hope you had a good day on Friday.

Trips, you would have been proud of me on Friday - I made 48 fairy cakes for DD1's Rainbows funday. I even iced them .

Anyway, sorry I have been away so long. Life has been getting in the way. All 3 girls have now been diagnosed with coeliac, which actually makes life easier. DT1 has been suffering on-going tummy pain though which is getting slightly better, but which has had us at A&E because she has been screaming in agony with it. They say it's acid/indigestion, but I'm not convinced so have pushed for more tests and have brought our consultant appointment forward. He definitely thinks I'm a neurotic mother (and probably thinks I've got Munchhausen's (sp) or something) but it took me 2 years to get DD1 diagnosed and if there's something wrong here I don't want to have to wait that long . Whoops, sorry slipped into rant mode for a minute there.

Anyway, must get on, DH and I decided last weekend to start a vegetable patch in the garden which has turned into a bigger job than we thought. But the sun is shining and it's time to get out in the garden .

tkband3 · 26/04/2009 09:19

Oh should have said 'morning' as Shabs is obviously still sleeping it off . hope the head's not too painful .

shabster · 26/04/2009 10:03

Morning!!! xxx

BlueEyedMaid · 26/04/2009 10:27

Oh yes, I remember Amber - she of one set of twins & one set of triplets and overall extremely dramatic life. I think there was quite a sad story behind all of that. Maybe it was a good idea to make the Tamba message board a bit exclusive as it seemed to attract a measure of weirdness.

I've woken up somewhat hungover to make vows of future sobriety that may or may not last until tonight...

1stMrsF · 26/04/2009 11:32

Yes, I did know that there is a chance they will be ID - they are DCDA for sure - but have not met anyone who actually turned out to have ID twins after being told they are non-ID, so it's really interesting to hear your experience. My thoughts are that I will wait and see how they look and maybe do DNA test if they are rather alike.

BlueEyedMaid · 26/04/2009 19:28

It's great they you've been told this - I've met several people who insist their twins cannot be ID even though they look identical as some doctor once told them this was impossible with DCDA babies. I think most non-ID twins of the same sex seem different enough that there isn't really much of a question about it. So if you're not sure that's a pretty good indication they might be. It was great to know for sure though as we just couldn't decided - mine have different head shapes as one sat on the other's head in the womb, different moles including on the face, etc. They look so unalike to me but other people tell me otherwise so different haircuts have tuned out to be a godsend for everyone concerned...

shabster · 26/04/2009 19:49

[ignorant emoticon] was does DCDA mean?

BlueEyedMaid · 26/04/2009 20:46

Evening Shabs - how is the hangover? And the delicious Robbie? Smothered in sun cream I expect.

DCDA could mean they kick a lot when you play heavy metal during pregnancy. Or alternatively, two sacs and placentas (Dichorionic/Diamniotic). Which variation of DTs do you have? I currently have VA/VC (very annoying/very cute) - depending on how much wine I've had and whether they're awake or not.

triplets · 26/04/2009 21:52
