Thanks FG, that's good advice ! I'm sure he will be fine and her too, but its just dealing with the shock (for both her and the baby) and getting him stable and safe that is tough.

Leo, you could always start a thread for others to share firsthand experience, so you/she have some pointers and tips.

FG - I may do that when I have come back from seeing her and how things are going. All your advice is appreciated very much however ! ... and twin and multiple mums are the best, i don't think I could get more from anyone else !

Do you have jaffa cakes? Or other small cakes? Pile them all up on a plate in a kind of circular pyramid with candles stuck in here and there. Have done this in emergencies. Looks arty .

hee hee! Hmmm, I bought some swiss biscuits i know he likes the other day, could do something with those , if he hasn't eaten them already . If not I'll pass by the petrol station on the way home from the hospital and get some kind of cake and some of those plastic looking real flowers they always have ! I do love him dearly !

Is there a stats thread for all of us? I had a look but couldnt see anything.

Report
harrogatemum · 27/11/2006 19:18

lg&T there is a thread called "twins roll call" or something I think which has all our details on it, our ages, where we are, how old our DTs are etc! Do add on as I often go back there to remind myself of peoples details as our happy multiples family grows!

My tightenings are getting closer together, but as they arent painful, I'm not worrying about it - should I be? They are about every 5 mins and last for about 30 seconds. They make me stand still for a while but not stop me from carrying on my normal day (currently cooking chicken paprika and jacket spuds for DH's return). Did notice something large, brown and mucousy floating away from me in the bath though, it looked like ectoplasm! Hope no-one is currently eating a large slice of lemon drizzle!! Ha ha ha, think I am getting delirious waiting for this baby to be born!!

stats thread?

leogaela, hope your friend's baby is out of SCUBU soon.

hm, I think I missed your question somewhere about favouring children. don't feel even the slightest bit guilty. I don't much like dt1 atm. He is like Kevin from Harry Enfield. He strops and throws himself around constantly, and if I go too close I get bitten or slapped. He jsut isn't very loveable though he has the most wonderful giggly laugh when he is happy. I still love him as much as the others and it is a phase and he will come through it. I've felt the same about all of them at some point or another. I can say hand on my heart that I don't have a favourite out of any of my four. They are all very different and I lvoe different things about them, some more than others!

It was the case review conference today. My arsehole of a sw hasn't even called to let me know how it went. Oh well, they won't have been taken off the register this soon anyway, so will have to keep plodding on until May. Aaargh!

LOL HM. Nice to have that floating by in the bath! Im sure when the real thing starts up you will know. I always say that loosely now though, being one of those who did a is it, isnt it for 2 weeks and then didnt believe myself when it did happen. A good sign is when you cant actually talk through the contractions, that why when you phone the mat ward in labour the midwife will always ask to speak to you not your dp/dh. Its a good indication if you go quiet mid conversation for 40-50 secs, we tell you to come in then...

Good luck for tonight, i will keep checking back, my ds #3 waited for his dad to come home before arriving. He had been away at some work thing since the monday and came home thursday about 6. Ds arrived at 1.40 am, he was 10 days late. I still cant believe he went to the work thing that week, im not with him anymore, funny that....It was in bloody scotland about 9 hours from home then!

Will find the thread roll call and post, thank you

still there hm? its taken me ages to catch up with this thread tonight, you've all been v chatty this afternoon!

fg I have very different relationships with my 2, one is very affectionate and quite good at sussing out how others are feeling, but feels everything so intensely she musdt find life really quite a struggle at times. The other is on another planet most of the time but recently has been quite aggressive and stroppy when she doesn't get her own way...don't know where she gets that from!

kelly hope you get some news some time soon, it would be polite of them wouldn't it?

sorry to hear about your friend leo, hope it all works out ok in the end.

and hello to everyone else, will try to keep up from now on...

how's it going hm?

Report
harrogatemum · 28/11/2006 08:37

Hi lapinrose....well I have been monitoring contractions since 5am but they are just all over the place, to start with they were about every 5 mins, then they went to 6-7 mins and now they have gone to every 10.....going in completely the wrong direction! Lasting about 45 seconds on average. Am sitting on ball which helps, pains are manageable but cant talk through them so I am assuming they are proper contractions!

frumpygrumpy · 28/11/2006 09:03

Kelly I hope today brings you some news, it would seem the obvious thing to do, to keep the mother informed .

Just in from school run and thought I'd pop in to see you HM. Sounds very like you are in labour now honey! Is the hospital far? Are you hoping to labour at home for as long as possible before going? I ask because I travelled backwards in the car whilst having DD and it was not a pleasant experience as I was only 25 minutes off having her. Each bump we went over I thought would bring her out and DP did the 15-20 minute journey in 7mins (just as well it was 4.30am). Try to travel before the contractions get too bad. Will be around til about 10.30am today so I'll pop in again.

Hey Mars! We got a live one here!!

they are getting further apart !!!!!AAAAAAAAGGGGGGHHHHHHHH how much longer can this go on! I have been using the contraction master website and between 7 and 8am they were every 6-7 minutes. Since 8am they have gone to about every 9-10 minutes. Still lasting about 40 seconds each. HD has just taken the twins to nursery, will be back in a mo.

FG we are about 10 minute drive from the hospital, not far at all. I dont want to go in unless something definite is happening and the midwife didnt sound too phased by my bright red show etc this morning so I am staying put until it gets worse!

Someone PLEASE tell me it will be today!!!

Report
frumpygrumpy · 28/11/2006 09:26

oh yeah, and contractions being all over the place doesn't mean you are necessarily not going in the right direction. They might never settle into any identifiable pattern.

Hi lapinrose! (Mars, lapin means rabbit in french right? so she must be a pink rabbit non?)

10 mins away is good. HM try not to think about the timing, for me it was all bollocks. Think about the intensity. Does it feel slightly stronger now than it did at 5am? It will be soon HM, there is no going back from here.
