10 mins good was referring to hospital not contractions

largeginandtonic · 28/11/2006 09:46

Oooooh this is so exciting, hope you are ok HM. Im sure it cant be far off now you sound like your doing fab! Im so gutted we get to know each other like this and i cant even come and see the gorgeous little baby when it comes out! You will have to post piccies! Your dh must have been so relieved (as im sure you were) that he got home last night and hadnt missed anything. Watch an easy movie and bounce away, anything to distract you. Will keep checking in xxxxx

frumpygrumpy · 28/11/2006 10:01

HM.....h'lo.....

she's hopefully having a bath, a cuppa and a back rub.

harrogatemum · 28/11/2006 10:15

lying on the bed now with the laptop watching Jeremy Kyle. Contractions have gone right off....last one was at 10am and lasted about 43 seconds. Feels like they are going right off now, can this happen? Is it normal?

throckenholt · 28/11/2006 10:23

each contraction is one nearer the end - they can stop and start - but they are all useful. Make the most of the lull to have a rest.

leogaela · 28/11/2006 10:38

Oh, no, lots happened after I rushed off yesterday and I didn't make it back afterward! And now I'm at work, screen too exposed so I can't stay for long!

Just wanted to let you know that my friends baby is absolutely gorgeous, beautiful, yummy. Poor love has another problem. Has rhesus incompatibility and the injections my friend had during pregnancy hasn't worked so they are waiting to see if he is responding to treatment. Waiting for more news from her.

Oh HM you still here!

harrogatemum · 28/11/2006 10:45

Hi throck and leo - yes still here. I thought about not posting for a few days as i dont want to keep making people think that the birth is imminent when it seems it isnt

But thenI think that if I do disappear and dont post for a few days everyone will DEFINITELY think that the birth has happened! So sorry to keep getting everyone's hopes up, but this is like a lifeline, if i have a daft question, someone is bound to have the answer!

frumpygrumpy · 28/11/2006 10:53

Leo they are having a wobbly beginning aren't they. Hope all is well soon, keep us posted.

HM, totally normal. It could be a gentle build up or it could come on and be suddenly strong and constant. Have a break for a bit, warm baths are good for relaxing everything in the body, and do get back on your ball to keep everything in the right place and opening up nicely, you need the gravity. Make sure everything is at the door or in the car and that there is nothing you think you'll have time to do later, you won't. Enjoy these break times, get out photos of when the DTs were tiny and it will remind you of what little bundle is coming. If the brain gets mushy, it'll send the right signals . I know everyone says it but a walk outside is good too. Fresh air to stimulate and gravity and pressure. Is there a coffee shop you could walk to for coffee and muffins?

Have you imagined a birth plan? I sribbled mine in labour and that was the last we heard of it .

Where is a doula when you need one ?

I'm off out to visit my 81 yr old gran but I'll be sure to get right back on here the minute I can. Take care honey, all the best (take the drugs if you need them), can't stop thinking of you!

frumpygrumpy · 28/11/2006 10:55

HM, don't not post! We've never had a live birth on our thread yet! Even if it takes another month (I'm kidding, I'm kidding!!!!) we want every step with you .

largeginandtonic · 28/11/2006 11:00

Poor you HM, it is so crap just waiting. It is right though that every contraction gets you closer, just hold on to that thought. It just means when it all happens your body will be very efficient as it will be all prepared for labour. Do something nice to distract yourself as much you can, just wear a pad to catch the gunk!!! Nice...

Leo i hope your friends baby gets better soon, it is so scary when they are so little and helpless.

Is it lunch time yet im soooo hungry, shouldnt be i have already eaten toast (that was stupidly early though) and a piece of lemon cake

lapinrose · 28/11/2006 11:21

yes pink rabbit, don't ask me why though

hm I know its no consolation really but at least its the beginning of the end, even if it may not actually be here yet!

harrogatemum · 28/11/2006 11:24

I have eaten half a Terrys choc orange. Clearly body not clearing itself out!

throckenholt · 28/11/2006 11:26

it is stocking up on quick release energy for later today - maybe

harrogatemum · 28/11/2006 11:57

BT about to dig up the road so losing connection, dont get over excited!

Kelly1978 · 28/11/2006 12:33

sounds like early labour HM, I had it for three days with my first. It is very frustrating. Mine have never really had regular patterns at all, especially with the dts, where I got to 3cms thinking it was BHs! You are getting closer all the time, just hang on in there.

no news fg, I give up! Oh and he wants me out of my own house at 9am on sat so he can obseve dp alone with the kids. I'm soo sick of them. At the next meeting I am gonna suggest that they need to back off a bit now, see where it gets me. Fingers crossed!

Kelly1978 · 28/11/2006 12:34

maybe you should stick a finger or two up there and see if you are dilating. I have done.

MarsLady · 28/11/2006 13:17

How bloody inconvenient of BT. Gah...........

If you manage to read this before it is too late HM.....

STOP TIMING YOUR CONTRACTIONS! All you are doing is clockwatching and that will SLOW your contractions down. Just ignore them as much as you can. As soon as you start to fuss and fret the contractions go off. You need to relax (I know I know I know........... but you still need to do it!)

Your baby is on the way. You may find you've done better than you expected when you get to the hospital. Keep HD close at hand and make sure someone else is there with the DTs cos in my waters I think this might be a quickie (pretty much how you got into this situation in the first place I'd say) lol

Hi ladies.

Lapinrose.... of course. I couldn't remember what lapin was and was far too lazy to look it up in my dictionary.

Now ladies I need your birthing vibes for one of my clients. She really really needs to go into labour NOW basically. Far too complicated and confidential to explain but send your prayers and vibes please. Also hope that I don't hear from the next one for a couple of days. Ta!

Right......... quick surf then off to shop. Today is the last day of my best friend's 40 days and 40 presents. I have a massage voucher to pick up for her! Kisses to you all.

harrogatemum · 28/11/2006 13:24

oooh Kelly - how does that work???? I asked HD to do it and he declined!

Mars - BT have fixed the problem so I am back online. Have tried to stop timing the contractions, they are still all over the place though, sometimes every 10 mins, then half an hour will go by with nothing. Last few were quite intense though with quite a bit of stinging down below which I havent had before!

Anyway will carry on bouncing and see what transpires!

MarsLady · 28/11/2006 13:28

What you need to do is to REST between the contractions. Your body is saving up it's energy for the big finale! Now... eat whilst you can and drink! Sips if that's all that you can cope with.

Stinging below........... clearly lots of stretching of the uterus going on and.... well let's just see how it goes.

Now do you have my mobi number? Cos I'm about to pop out to the shops for the next hour or so and I want you to know that you can get me if you need to or want to. (I feel like Lulumama... the online doula lol!)

How long does the stinging last? And where's HD?

largeginandtonic · 28/11/2006 13:36

How did you do that kelly?! I tried but the bump was too big and my fingers too short...only tried it with dd and she was op and my cervix was round the back of her head though. If your crevix is towards the front HM you may be able to! Your own personal sweep...

I threatned one of my friends (i was her birthing partner) with the marigolds if she didint deliver before being induced..she went in to hospital to be induced in the end (without the marigold intervention) I went in to see her that day as she was waiting for them to break her waters (the delivery suite was too busy though) took one look at her and her waters gushed everywhere! Nobody believed me when i said it wasnt me....

Shame we have no web cam HM or i could look at you, it might work..lol

harrogatemum · 28/11/2006 13:36

am eating and drinking as we speak. Stinging lasted as long as the contraction did.....HD is upstairs on his laptop working (or trying to!) and yes, I think he has your moby number - stop worrying woman and get out there and shop!! And why not stop and have a glass of wine for me, ha ha!

MarsLady · 28/11/2006 13:41

Ok HM.... but I wouldn't let HD go to far today (or this afternoon).

Mobile charged.... check
Mobile on......... check
Mobile in range... check

Okay... I'll go shopping! Remember wiggle those hips! And lie on your left side when you lie down!

Kelly1978 · 28/11/2006 14:01

lol, The trick is to get the angle right, I had to sort of lay back and stick my bum up in the air a bit and then I could feel the cervix around the baby's head. I do have quite long fingers thought!

I've never heard of stinging, sounds unpleasant. Def sounds a good idea to stop timing them.
