PIP REVIEW, STILL WAITING!

Queenanne20 · 12/02/2025 13:31

Dh's PIP award is due to end in April this year. We received a review form which I completed and returned by due date of 20th September 2024. I sent it tracked so know they received it, it was a large package as I included lots of evidence. We still haven't heard anything, payments are still going in to the bank account but I'm worried as what will happen when we get to the end of the award date in April. It was granted for three years and the three years will be up in April. We are Preston, Lancashire area. Does anyone have any advice?

I caved and called, didn’t think the advisor would tell me the award as the text says do not call. But I’ve been awarded for another 3 years

Hi , has any one won a mandotory reconsideration after a review , as I was on high care low mobility and condition is worse , I just phoned as decision was made , they dropped me to low rate care and took my low mobility off me , thanks any advice most welcome

I've won one for a client. When we got a copy of the assessor's report, it read as though the report was about someone else entirely.

The MR decision was so quick, I rather suspect that it was based on the wrong report. They seem to be in utter chaos.

@LakieLady Hi , how long did it take for the mandatory reconsideration, and it seems like that may of happened to me , did you say it seemed like it was the wrong report, as I’ve been on high rate for care for years and also on mobility, they dropped me to standard care and took the mobility off me , why I don’t know as my condition is much worse now , waiting for the letter to see what they’ve points they give me as not yet received it , I called when got the text saying my review was complete and a decision has been made , they told me what the rate was now and need to wait for the decision letter in the post .
thank you

I don't understand how they deal with the amount of paperwork from all the new claims AND reviews, it must be masses of it! Maybe they don't...

Hi
I phoned to do a mandatory reconsideration, they said we will do it here and now over the phone , anyone can advise , advice more than welcome, is it best to also to send it in , on paper also pointing what they haven’t scored you on .
thank you

Phase2 · 12/05/2025 11:20

So I sent it tracked 2nd May but Royal Mail says it’s been sent to Royal Mail and they will know more when it’s been scanned into their system? What does this mean?? I can’t face printing it all off again or it being lost.

Phase2 · 12/05/2025 11:21

Plus the deadline was 14th May and I turned it round in 3 days

Caitlyn59 · 12/05/2025 15:06

@LakieLady hi , how long did it take to hear back about the mandatory reconsideration, as my assessment report they contradicted everything except for 2 or 3

Just received a letter today saying as award is due to end in April and they haven't reviewed it yet, it's been awarded for a further year to allow them time to review it. Has anyone else had a letter like this and, if so, how longer after did it take them to do the review?

My DH got this.

Orangesandlemons77 · 13/05/2025 15:11

Still waiting here. It's been about 6 weeks since I had the letter extending for a year and the text that a health professional is looking at it. I'm getting fed up with the stress now.

LadyKenya · 13/05/2025 15:57

The system is in utter chaos, and they are not on top of things. Maybe the Government should be focusing their attention, on sorting out this mess, instead of where they appear to be focusing, on cutting benefits.

Orangesandlemons77 · 13/05/2025 16:50

Maybe they think cutting the criteria means less people will apply and they will have less of us to deal with? Who knows. I think it is unlikely the cuts will go ahead anyway. There has been a lot in the press recently about MPs saying they will vote against the cuts anyway.

Still waiting here two. I had that letter almost a year ago! Assessment was 4th april

Queenanne20 · 13/05/2025 19:56

I think that if they do go ahead with this 4 point descriptor rule then all the people who don't achieve it will apply for mandatory reconsideration and probably end up at a tribunal. I think it's obvious that PIP assessors/reviewers can't cope now, just look at the massive backlog, the whole system will be in chaos when they introduce the proposed changes. I'm so sorry for anyone who is still awaiting a decision.

A year? Guess I will just try and forget about it then for a bit. I keep stressing thinking I might have missed a message about an appt or something and checking my phone.

I think so too there will be even more appeals. It will be a nightmare, hoping they change their minds.

I have, but I've been doing PIP applications/reviews/appeals since PIP started, and I can only think of 3 times it's happened in all that time!

I'd say it's pretty rare.

Usually fairly quickly, by DWP standards: 6-8 weeks, generally, sometimes less.
