PIP REVIEW, STILL WAITING!

Queenanne20 · 12/02/2025 13:31

Dh's PIP award is due to end in April this year. We received a review form which I completed and returned by due date of 20th September 2024. I sent it tracked so know they received it, it was a large package as I included lots of evidence. We still haven't heard anything, payments are still going in to the bank account but I'm worried as what will happen when we get to the end of the award date in April. It was granted for three years and the three years will be up in April. We are Preston, Lancashire area. Does anyone have any advice?

Thanks LadyLady that all looks useful. I've already rang and asked for a copy of the report so should see soon what has happened.

Best of luck to anyone else waiting

So sorry for your dad!

so I hit the 7 week mark after assessment yesterday and called them again, asked to speak to someone higher. Lo and behold they can’t understand why my decision hasn’t been made, as they are actually turning them around at 4 weeks at the moment, though they say 6 just in case. Tried my case worker, out of office and so was her manager. He is emailing them to say they need to make the decision with 24 hours, so hopefully Tuesday I’ll finally get an answer!!!

{mention:Orangesandlemons77}im@Orangesandlemons77im so sorry for the loss of your dad. What a stressful and worrying time you must be having at the moment. I keep reading your posts out to my husband, your concern over the video call etc and now that you have lost your dad (dh lost his in December). We both wish you well and are keeping our fingers crossed for you that your PIP gets rewarded and you don't have to go through MR or a tribunal x

Aw thanks, he was 80 and it was a short illness so was peaceful. I wish you well too!

Wahoo! I’ve been reawarded for 3 years AND gone up to enhanced mobility! 💃

Shorty180 · 28/05/2025 16:06

Hi all sorry to jump on, my award ends in August, the most recent text I’ve had was from the assessment service, is it still possible to have a paper review if they’re looking at it or will I definitely have to have an assessment does anybody know? Thanks.

Orangesandlemons77 · 28/05/2025 20:12

I got my medical report and looks like I will be keeping the enhanced care but losing the mobility - and a review in 18 months. My last award was for 6 yrs.

Not sure whether it is worth the stress of querying it or just leaving it. It might just be easier on my MH to do the latter.

I also noticed they have taken some of my '4' points scores and replaced them with '2's which worries me with regard the proposed PIP changes.

I think it's possible to have paper based but most get an assessment.

Get the Benefits and Work guide!

Failing that:

  1. Check the PIP descriptors and points for each activity (easily found online) you struggle with and work out how many points you think you should get for each one.
  2. Bear in mind that if you can't do an activity safely, to an acceptable standard, repeatedly and to an acceptable standard, without assistance, prompting etc, it counts as not being able to do it (PIP regs, para 4 (2A))
  3. Compare the points you think you should get with the points you were awarded.
  4. For each activity where you didn't get the points you think you should have got, explain clearly why you can't do it unaided, safely etc, and which health condition(s) make it difficult. Then say how many points you think you should have got and which paragraph of the relevant descriptor should apply. Quote para 4 (2A) where relevant.

If you didn't have a face to face assessment, highlight that and explain that it meant that you were at a disadvantage because the assessor couldn't observe any signs of anxiety, impaired mobility etc or any other visible signs of difficulty.

If it's an appeal, a few weeks after you submit it you'll get a big bundle of papers, including the assessor's report. Go through that and identify where it's wrong, inaccurate, untrue etc. You can then lodge a further submission ripping that apart. It's usually the assessor's report that's led to the incorrect decision, they are often utter bollocks.

It's not rocket science. I'm sure most people on here could do a pretty decent appeal/MR.

Do you know if I can appeal the mobility part and length of award on my new award and keep the care part (which they are awarding me) in payment please?

Glitterandsparklesgirl · 30/05/2025 15:53

@Orangesandlemons77 do you know what the form sent to your gps was asking? And was maximus the assessment provider please.

It was Serco, it asked things like to list the conditions, about any investigations and how they affect your life (my GPs left those bits black though) It might be online if you google, not sure.

No - Capita for myself

Glitterandsparklesgirl · 06/06/2025 13:08

@Orangesandlemons77 i think i may be in a similar boat to you regarding mobility. i got 12 points on 11f but think there going to drop me this time as i go out less, do you mind me asking if this is what happened to you, would you mind letting me know if dwp award enhanced or standard based of report when they make your decision im very stressed

Orangesandlemons77 · 06/06/2025 15:09

I'm stressed too, trying to not think about it too much, still waiting for the decision letter. I used to have the point for the planning and following an unfamiliar journey but they have taken that away this time but their reasoning is a bit odd, saying things like I use a sat nav but I don't drive?

However I still have enhanced care so unsure whether to bother challenging it particularly as the low mobility is not worth very much.

I do go out alone and in familiar places so agree with not getting the other points though. I mean I sometimes can't but don't want to get paranoid about if I do go out alone as I think that is bad for my mental health too, and would make it worse.

Glitterandsparklesgirl · 06/06/2025 15:27

@Orangesandlemons77 oh i’m sorry, i hope you get the right decision. I really don’t go out alone not even to familiar places i haven’t in 6 years. I think I’ll have to do an MR but hoping to call the pip line and maybe leave a note for the DM. You’d think they would appreciate people struggling so badly and not make us wait on edge like this, i get there busy but it’s still so challenging. How odd about the satnav thing, i told them i couldn’t drive, wondering what they could possibly of been thinking

Yours might be ok though if you told them that, with me I made it clear I do out alone

Orangesandlemons77 · 06/06/2025 16:57

I think the whole PIP process is terrible for our mental health. It's definitely making mine worse. It makes it hard to think about trying more stuff independently in case this can be seen as a sign of improvement.

I think the DLA system was better where it was a form and then a bit to get filled in from your GP or specialist, rather than these assessment companies.

Glitterandsparklesgirl · 20/06/2025 13:28

@Orangesandlemons77 hi do you mind me asking how long it took for the official decision as i’m still waiting.

Cal91 · 20/06/2025 14:31
