If you're not a specialist, don't attempt those qualifications - the standard of knowledge required is really high. You should see various general qualifications you can take, and once you get some of those passed there will be, droughts excluded, hopefully plenty of work for you to do.

To any of the Data Annotation people on this thread - I've been inundated with work on my board for the last few weeks but I've looked tonight and it's bare.

Is everyone else seeing the same or do you all still have lots of projects available? Would just be really helpful to know if there's a general lull or it's gone quiet on the stuff that I'm qualified for.

I do have a few more qualifications I can do - I hadn't bothered as there was so much work. It's gone from 25+ projects to just one tonight!

I'll use the time to do some of the other qualifications and see if that helps. I used to be a freelance copywriter but AI has literally killed the industry so this is my only income at the moment!

I was thinking about trying some of the other data sites, but I hate the onboarding process. Was hoping that DA would have enough to keep me afloat but seeing a bare board tonight slightly panicked me.

Good idea - you will definitely get more work if you keep doing the qualifications! I'm sorry to hear AI has affected your freelance career like that.

Mine is pretty bare too. It does go through phases like this, some projects end and then there’s sometimes a bit of a gap.

Thank you @ArtTheClown - I see a couple more projects have popped up while I've been doing a qualification, so hopefully it won't be too empty for long!

I'm a carer to three people, including my DM with cerebral palsy and dementia, so I'm a bit buggered for choice. Copywriting enabled me to work FT hours around my caring as and when I could fit it in so it's frustrating that it's vanished into the ether.

I've been a copywriter for 16+ years and always had a queue of waiting clients so the speed of AI shutting it all down kind of caught me by surprise. In between the DA stuff I'm writing a book that I'm going to self-publish - worth a shot I reckon!

@ElizabethG81 - thank you for also confirming - I'll try not to panic if I see the board empty occasionally! 😂

Looks like my DA journey has come to end before it’s even started! 🙈 The annoying thing is I completed a task during the onboarding which said I was doing great.
No messages/emails about this so I don’t know what I’ve done wrong.

@SpidersAreShitheads I've found that the number of projects lessens towards the end of the month, but it always picks up again.

I think I failed core assessment - it's still reviewing my results after a week and the other qualifications have disappeared.

Frustratingly I know one thing I definitely did wrong which I can't now correct - but of course there may have been other things too. Cross with myself though.

although the Verify button is still active. Annoyingly the coding assessment's vanished although if Reddit is to be believed it seems as though you need to be a genius to pass it rather than just have a lot of experience. Ah well.

Aww I’m sorry about that, Data Annotation folks - dont give up hope completely though. You never know! I will say though, it’s a very feast and famine platform. When it’s good, it’s very very good but when it’s bad (and you’ve planned your bloody bank holiday free time around it for buttons) it’s … yeah, not great 😂.
