Universal credit managed migration thread

1000 replies

ChristmasCatBells · 28/06/2023 14:50

Anyone else waiting for a migration notice this year?
Looks like they are planning to move people on tax credits only onto universal credit this year but haven't released any detailed timetables about areas.
Thought it might be useful to share experiences and information on here for those affected.

No, it's a work commitments interview. My ID stuff okayed online when I completed application.

Ok message work coach then.

Angel0510 · 04/01/2024 22:24

I'll probably be able to make it, feeling rubbish today and head all over the place, but by Thursday next week I should be ok to attend. Also, Babyroobs, we applied just before Christmas and yet my husband still hasn't heard anything back regarding an interview?

megletthesecond · 04/01/2024 22:38

I've finally started applying. It wants a list of all my current accounts with the amounts in them. This is so stressful as I get so anxious worrying I've missed something.

FocusOnTheFrais · 05/01/2024 08:39

I thought I’d update in case anyone else is in our situation. DH applied for the switch to UC two nights ago. We had to upload a few documents but it was all very efficient and clear.

The advance option was immediately available after our identities were verified online. DH applied and the advance was paid in to our account yesterday at 4pm.

TC stopped immediately (we can no longer log in to their system). Overall it’s taken less than 24hours to sort so I needn’t have worried. Thanks to all the help on my threads.

Our statement is due in 4-5 weeks. I hope this helps someone else .

Does anyone know how TC overpayments are recovered and at what rate? In spite of always keeping them up to date, we always end up with overpayments.

Bromptotoo · 05/01/2024 09:08

@FocusOnTheFrais any overpayment of Tax Credits will be recovered either by demanding a lump sum, adjusting tax code or by instalments which might come off UC.

RavenT · 06/01/2024 15:47

I applied in November and received my first payment in December. Just been told I have an appt this Tues with a coach. I'm at work on Tuesday! Bit rubbish to give me one working days notice?! 🥴. Any idea what to expect please? I work PT as lone parent to ds 10. Thanks.

You could ask for it to be moved if it's difficult. they could be wanting you to work more hours perhaps depending on how many hours you currently do, that could be one reason for the meeting.

megletthesecond · 06/01/2024 18:09

I've hit submit on mine. I've added a note to my journal letting them know my work days so they know when I can take a call.

BlessedBeTheFruitCake · 07/01/2024 17:31

We need to complete our migration by the 19th January, have been putting it off until Christmas was over.

We’ve got a pdf copy of our tenancy agreement, we both have government gateway accounts, council tax bill and driving licence. DH has all his wage slips online. Is there anything else we’re likely to need to hand?

Hopefully it’ll be a smooth transition.

megletthesecond · 07/01/2024 18:16

bless you need to know how much is in all your current and savings accounts and the last four digits of each account number.
What with various back and forth, forgetting passwords etc it's taken me just over two hours. I've already added six notes to my journal.

BlessedBeTheFruitCake · 07/01/2024 20:15

Ah I’ll make sure I’ve logged into my banking apps and made a note of all the amounts etc, thank you.

Yes, we did that, just logged into banking app and listed last four account digits and amounts alongside. Both our ID's confirmed straight away with driving licence and passport. I think although everyone has different issues and circumstances, we're all feeling the same anxiousness due to change. It's security when things are the same for so long then we have to suddenly adapt to a completely new system. I'm usually a pretty tough character but I will be pleased when this initial phase is done and dusted... it's pressure and stress that nobody needs.

Not impressed with the appointment system! Notified on Saturday afternoon about an appointment tomorrow lunchtime. Immediately journaled to rearrange. Today my son has been in hospital for a day case procedure under GA, whilst there had a reminder about the appointment tomorrow. Extremely stressful getting those when your child has just gone into hospital. Tried ringing couldn't get through. Eventually had a reply on my journal to say 3.30pm on a day next week (despite me already stating I had school runs).
I asked for an appt between school hours again and gave them my non working days and they've now sent me a Saturday appt. Not impressed! They haven't read any of my journal entries! I am a lone parent to a primary aged child.

JanglyBeads · 08/01/2024 17:56

That sounds really stressful @RavenT !

megletthesecond · 08/01/2024 20:19

That's not good enough from them is it Raven. Can you take your DS to the Saturday apt or will you have to re-shcedule?
I hope your son is OK this evening.

Gaffygoose · 08/01/2024 20:55

Angel, you hit the nail on the head.
Our date is 21st Jan and I still don't want to open the application.
Sorted my rental agreement so am pretty much ready to go but, just can't seem to get started.
I spoke with CAB and they said, the deadline is not the actual final date as you still have a month after that but, its much better to apply by the date on the letter as everything should fall into place properly. Delaying to the final date (30 days later) would mean a longer wait for your 1st payment.
In hindsight, I wish they hadn't told me that!
I'm determined to apply before the 21st, albeit a couple of days before.

Gaffygoose · 08/01/2024 20:58

If all goes smoothly, approximately how long would the application take (a couple with 2 children)?

Do you work Saturdays? Forgive me but if it is a day case surgery he should be well enough by then to go. I would just go to the appointment and give your son a tablet or something to keep him occupied.

Jellykat · 08/01/2024 21:47

I'm supposed to apply by this Saturday, i've been putting it off for so long!
Mainly because im employed and self employed, and have 8 jobs, all of which change seasonally and fortnightly..
Will be brave and have a look at the application tomorrow, but i know its gonna be a bloody nightmare.
Really stressed about it all, luckily its just me i claim for (no dependants)

Jellykat · 08/01/2024 21:48

Can anyone tell me what happens if you're sent an appt on a day you have to work? can you rearrange?

Paddleboarder · 08/01/2024 21:55

I was sent an appointment on a day I work, just message and they will send you another one. I actually managed to get mine on the phone because I said I was too busy working to go to the job centre!

Jellykat · 08/01/2024 22:04

Great, thank you! @Paddleboarder

megletthesecond · 09/01/2024 08:01

As soon as I applied I put a note in my journal telling them my working days. They have given me an ID check apt on a non working day so maybe it helped. Obviously I'd locked myself out of Gov Gateway so couldn't do it on-line 🤦‍♀️.

Angel0510 · 09/01/2024 09:05

It really tarnished our Christmas, gaffygoose. We had to apply before 6th January and so applied on 27th December. The application process seemed ok and didn't have to upload anything. However, my husband skipped through all the "work search" questions, (he's not the most patient of people when it comes to form filling on a phone!) and so that section says 'not provided'. He's self employed, has had a profitable business for 16 years, but he still hasn't had a request to make an appointment at the job centre. Possibly because they're trying to catch up after the holiday period. I'm not working and have my appointment this Thursday.
