I’ve never been given the option to choose which bonds to sell/keep.

Blondeshavemorefun · 22/03/2023 18:42

I wish I again have my first which was a given in 1973

Sorry to jump on this thread, can anyone tell me how premium bonds work? Is there a chance I could lose money? I have 5k sat in a savings account with low interest. Can you put say 1k into a premium bonds account or is it not worth it? Thanks

No chance to lose your money

but you won’t get interest in it

so what you put in you get out if need it

but obv every month a chance to win a million - 100k end smaller 1000’s plus £25 the lowest

Thank you, so if i put 1k in, if I needed that money, can I just withdraw it back out easily?

Pemba · 26/03/2023 16:46

It's only takes a day to get your money out in my experience, I think some banks might take 2-3 days, not sure

DoorstoManual · 26/03/2023 17:15

The longest I have waited is two days.

Blondeshavemorefun · 26/03/2023 17:16

Yes @GG1986 Tho need a nominated account where winning will go unless you reinvest them

That's how I also buy them. If I have any money left over in a month I buy some more. Even if £25

That’s the one. It’s all government backed so safe.
Just be aware that if you bought them today then they won’t be in the next draw at the beginning of April but the one at the beginning of May.

HagWithAtt · 26/03/2023 17:50

Fingers crossed for everyone for the next draw 🙂.

Bittercup · 26/03/2023 20:30

Does anyone know if the prize fund for April will be the same as March? I can't see an update on the website yet so I'm assuming so?

OneFrenchEgg · 27/03/2023 07:08

It's ages away isn't it - over a week.

Ames85 · 27/03/2023 07:48

@Bittercup I’ve been looking out for news of an increase but nothing so far unfortunately

ThisWomansWorkNeverEnds · 27/03/2023 11:09

I've just had an email- there has been an increase, now 3.30%. It says more prizes between £5000 and £100,000. Fingers crossed for all of us!

redrumclub · 27/03/2023 11:28

I've just put all my savings back into PB's so have just under full holdings from the May draw, will re evaluate after 3 draws but hopefully I do better than I have been doing with £15k.

2023usernameNew · 27/03/2023 14:52

I recently read this so hopefully they’ll keep raising the prizes.

The Government has tasked NS&I with attracting £7.5 billion from savers in the next 12 months, despite its recent struggles to stop people leaving for better deals elsewhere.

Bittercup · 27/03/2023 16:09

Thanks everyone!

Sneakyblinders · 27/03/2023 17:01

I just hope they don't raise the limit from £50k

Chewbecca · 27/03/2023 17:53

NS&I have introduced some new savings products with attractive rates so I guess it depends how well they do whether they decide to tempt more investment in PBs by increasing the limit. One is a 4.2% 3 year Green Bond which is quite appealing to me.

It's difficult isn't it - if I had a spare 50k I'd be thrilled to invest it all, but it is a bit of a disincentive to put £100s or low £1000s in especially when it's mainly blocks of £50k that win

Ilovetocrochet · 27/03/2023 23:00

I’ll be joining the 50k group soon, I’m just waiting for some inheritance to come through, it should be in my bank account in a couple of days so I’m going to top up my holding and see how much I win over a year.

Am I right in thinking if I buy the holdings before the end of March then they will be entered in the May draw?

Blondeshavemorefun · 28/03/2023 00:10

Yes I think so

JoelDommettsTux · 28/03/2023 18:52

If I set up an account today and buy some bonds will I be entered into the May draw?
