Not sure who you meant to tag @RuthTopp . I am very aware of the limits and ways to buy, having just under £100k across two accounts which DH and I have bought over the years.

RuthTopp · 04/05/2023 16:48

@Chewbecca

You said :
£175 on £98k. Not awful but not the £250pm I am aiming for but happy for it to come in lumpy patterns! Will be withdrawing some to pay off holidays over the next month or 2.

I’ve recently bought some NS&I Green Bonds - 4.2% for 3 years. Not the highest rate available but not bad at all and easy to open. Interest will be subject to income tax (unlike PB prizes) though.I

So I copied the above , but I can see you have now put dh & yourself for the 98k.

BunnyNumNum · 04/05/2023 23:04

£450 on almost full holdings. Happy with that!

BrutusMcDogface · 05/05/2023 11:05

Got an email yesterday afternoon saying my son had won £25! So we didn’t get nothing after all!

Aquarius1234 · 07/05/2023 15:12

It definitely seems fishy when someone with full holdings wins no more than £50 or nothing for months, yet someone else wins hundreds every month.
Seems if your allocated the wrong bonds your done for lol

useitorlose · 07/05/2023 16:09

£100 for me and nothing for DH, full holdings. In total we've won £900 in 2023 draws to date, compared to £1025 in the whole of 2022. I'd be interested to know how that compares with others with full holdings.

I have full holdings and have done extremely badly in the last few months - with 5 months out of 12 winning nothing at all. I've only won £225 in 2023 and £600 in the last 12 months. Generally not very lucky, I think! So you seem to me to be doing well!

JayAlfredPrufrock · 07/05/2023 19:34

£600 on full holdings this year.

I have a pretty appalling record - or at least, compared to what most people claim on here :

2019 £500
2020 £450
2021 £625
2022 £400
2023 £350 (so far).

So there does appear some scant evidence of uptick. In 2022 I actually went 5 months without winning anything. An online calculator (not sure how much I trust it) implied that there was a greater probability of me winning £10,000 than doing that.

Hollyhead · 08/05/2023 11:21

Is that on full holdings @GasPanic ? Your 2019-2021 results look like the statistical average of the base rate of getting 1% interest, 2022 was an unlucky year for you though. If you stay in, statistically it should smooth out at some point.

GasPanic · 08/05/2023 11:21

As an aside, looking at MSE, on full holdings I would expect ...

£25 about 2x per month.
£50 about 1x per month.
£100 about 1x every 2 months
£500 about 1x every 3.5 years.
£1000 about 1x a decade.

Yep.

Checker app still not working on my phone since the 1st.
I think I will uninstall it and reinstall and see if that helps.

Because I am at max holdings they paid my winnings back into my bank account, after a few years of reinvesting it felt strange. Grin

Reader I did the grown up thing and stuck straight into joint savings. 😇

Oh I wondered what happened to any winnings when you had full holdings
Not that it matters to me at the minute but maybe in the future!

mrsblueskyeye · 09/05/2023 14:29

£225 for me this month, 2x £100 and a £25 on £35k holdings. Makes up for zilch last month!

Veryfishy · 09/05/2023 18:48

DD won £100 , she’s 25 and on holiday , had the email and asked me to check how much she had won
which is when I discovered she had a £25 prize , unclaimed since 2015 ( she only had £200 worth until this year , she’s had a really good return as she won £100 when she was about 8 )

GasPanic · 09/05/2023 19:19

Actually this thread is interesting because the more I look at my stats the more miserable I become.

In 5 years of FH, I have had the following :

i) Never won more than £100.
iii) Only won 2x £100 and 3x £50.
iv) Had a maximum winning month of £150.
v) Had a five month streak of winning nothing.
vi) Won £50 or less over half the time.

I actually checked the winning bond numbers to check they are all winning prizes in case they were not activated when I bought them, but they all seem to be winning, just not very much.

I reckon the million must be mine next month.

MercyChant66 · 09/05/2023 21:55

GasPanic, my return is very similar to yours - never won more than £125 and have had many, many months of zero over the years. It's been a bad investment and sadly, a confirmation of something that I've known for a long time - I'm not a lucky person! Never won a raffle or a competition based on chance in all my 50+ years. But maybe Agent Million is heading our way for June?!
