I am so excited 😄 put 150£ in PB two months ago and already won 25£ so good start for me

That's insane!!! That's what I've won on £40k 😂 what good return rate for you

CornishTiger · 01/10/2022 13:37

Every month I put £40 in a savings account for the annual car insurance. I’m thinking about switching it to pay into premium bonds. Worth it?

It's impossible to say. Do you mind if you don't win anything?

While every bond has an equal chance of winning, putting £40 a month in isn't a huge amount, and you're unlikely to win. Especially as you need to wait a while before the new bonds are entered.

JubileeTrifle · 01/10/2022 15:21

I hate these few days of waiting. We are on full holdings so now starting to think we should get some in DDs name. Annoying she doesn’t have a passport at the moment to set an account up.

CornishTiger · 01/10/2022 16:16

I don’t mind not winning and the money isn’t actually making any money elsewhere. Just adds to my overall holding I suppose til I need it. Plus if it’s in there at least I won’t be tempted to dip into it til renewal time!

I didn't need a passport when I bought DS's first PBs.

CornishTiger · 01/10/2022 16:51

My children have premium bonds and don’t have passports. Think we uploaded a photo of birth cert. Can’t remember now. Wasn’t difficult though

CornishTiger · 01/10/2022 16:54

I’ve set it up so the energy rebate for hectic 5 months goes into premium bonds plus my insurance renewals money.

We are on a decent fix at mo so in theory it’s ok. If I find I can’t maintain paying into premium bonds then I’ll just reduce it.

Obviously it’s not a huge holding I have compared to others but I’d rather be in it to win it than not!

CornishTiger · 01/10/2022 16:55

Next 5 months not hectic 5 months!

JubileeTrifle · 01/10/2022 16:58

Ah I’ve just relooked and I can use a birth certificate!

Wary that this could be a scam, James phoned NS&I’s customer service team to check the contact was genuine. It was, and while waiting for his mystery visitor, James racked his brain, convincing himself that something had happened to his money and spent the time checking and double checking that his savings were safe.

The thought of winning £1 million had never entered his head when he had invested in Premium Bonds. He decided to do so to have “a bit of fun”, while putting money aside for some kitchen renovations.

What!!!! How could he not know what the call / visit was about? Confused I can understand if it was a long forgotton bond bought when you were a child. But surely everyone who has chosen to invest in premium bonds would know about the chance to win 1 million each month, and that it comes with a visit from agent million?

Blondeshavemorefun · 01/10/2022 19:19

Absolutely. End of month and pb rings you. Omg

you must reliese what it is about

Exactly. I mean none of us ever expect to win the big prizes, let alone the million. But if they called you at the end month then surely the first thought would be a big win, rather than something bad happening to your money. Confused

SavingsThreads · 01/10/2022 19:41

To be fair, I had no idea about agent million till these threads! Not sure what I thought happened if you won big, but didn't know there was face to face stuff

Carpediem15 · 01/10/2022 08:34

A friend of a friend won the million in the first draw he was in - many years ago.

I love stories like this although they make me really jealous too haha

FivePotatoesHigh · 01/10/2022 20:15

I am fairly new to having PB. I think I signed up to get a text or email if I win - will this arrive before or after the prize checker app gets updated?

Just so I know when I’ve lost hope 😂

Aaaaaaages afterwards for emails at least; I'm not sure about texts as I don't think I get those.

I didn’t know until I started reading these threads.

On the NS and I site there is a post about someone who has about £17 in bonds from decades ago. She won a big prize, I could have even been the £1million, it was the biggest prize won by the smallest holding and the oldest bond.

Thank you! Can hold out hope for a little longer until the app updates then

Summerof22 · 01/10/2022 22:15

Sorry if this has been asked already but, how long does it take for a prize to be paid?

I had a small prize last month and it still hasn’t t been paid into my nominated account.

thanks!

FredaFox · 01/10/2022 22:19

I won my first prize last month £25, was over the moon. Good luck everyone!

Justjoinedforthis · 01/10/2022 22:21

I wonder if Agent Milllion works one day a month, or if he or she does boring bank work for the rest of the month?
