£200 on 3 x full holdings. £100 one 1 account, plus a £75 and a £25 one another and nothing on the 3rd.
Well done to the winners and I live in hope of a large prize so I can leave work!

theAntsareMyFriends · 05/10/2022 15:08

£25 for me on around 20k. With the additional prizes I was hoping for more but still better than nothing.
My return is tracking 1.75% so still better than some accounts but if interest rates rise it might start to seem less competitive.
Well done to the winners!

Pemba · 05/10/2022 19:35

Just got around to checking ours for October. Best month ever! - me £125 on £47,000 (a one hundred and a twenty-five pound prize).

And DH on full holdings got £175 (one £100, one £50, one £25). So three hundred between us, and this is also the first time either of us won more than £25 prizes or multiples of. Well chuffed Grin! The increased prizes are working for us. Now just to wait for the million next month lol.

WhatsitWiggle · 05/10/2022 20:06

1 x £100 and 2 x £25 so £150 on full holding. Chuffed with that, my annual winnings are still much higher than my savings account.

I did dream I'd won £100k a few nights ago, woke up so disappointed that it wasn't true.

I'm new to premium bonds. I have full holdings (inheritance) but only upped it to that recently. I can't remember how long after you invest your bonds are entered into the draw, does anyone know?

RogueV · 05/10/2022 21:44

Never won anything before, had bonds for a good few years but today I won a £100 and £25 prize! Woooo

They have to be in for one full month before they are entered into the draw. So if you added it in September, they'll be included in the November draw.

findingsomeone · 05/10/2022 22:37

Thank you @ScarlettSunset this means I got 2 x £25 on my £20k as the £30k only went in on 9th Sept!

KohlaParasaurus · 06/10/2022 03:41

Nothing on £30,000.

SpaghettiSquash · 06/10/2022 16:45

I'm wondering if I should cash in my premium bonds and then buy more with one lump sum. I have £25k in bonds but they have been bought in dribs and drabs as I've saved money each month. Looking at the winners list most appear to be higher bond values. I've only won £25 in the last six months and I'm wondering if I might increase my chances of winning by just holding them in a single block.

bonzaitree · 06/10/2022 16:46

£25 on £5k.

My first ever win!

That’s not how statistics works, Ernie is a random number generator so each bond has the same chance of winning.

What you see as being winnings more favoured towards big blocks of bonds is just a tendency for people to have purchased their bonds in big blocks rather than over time (for lots of reasons, such as investing following a windfall or having moved money to ‘chase’ interest rates).

The tendency towards newer numbers will be because a higher proportion of these still exist, as people are more likely to have withdrawn older bonds.

Basically, all reinvesting will do is lose you a months draw - don’t do it!

BarbaraofSeville · 07/10/2022 06:42

Plus there are just more newer bonds full stop. People are far likely to have £50k now as it's a house deposit, savings for the tax bill, mortgage overpayment money, or the emergency fund.

Far fewer people had £50k in savings in the past because it was several years' salary, enough money to buy a whole street of houses, more money than most people saw in a lifetime. Now it's within the reaches of many average people who've been saving for a few years.

Blondeshavemorefun · 07/10/2022 11:47

Glad so many won

hopefully the increase in prizes will mean a nov or dec win

Although I didn't win anything DH won £25 on £5k, so that's good.

I have some more info on when we need to clean the house and put the kettle on:

I genuinely don’t understand how this works successfully. What if no-one’s in? Away? Unable to answer the door due to infirmity?

Then what happens? Do they leave a card, like UPS? I’m intrigued.

ThistlyPerf · 10/10/2022 06:16

Had my biggest win yet this month - £150 on @ 40k holdings.

I generally win something probably 8 months out of 12 and so far thought it was definitely a better return than any savings account but am intrigued by potential £70 per month interest in savings account mentioned up thread!

Blondeshavemorefun · 10/10/2022 10:21

@AutumnCrow my thoughts as well

next June for example we will be on holiday so they can come and knock for us

and won’t be there

or will they call us and fly over to see us

what happens to those who have pb who live abroad or can you not get them if live in france Spain etx

I Live in NZ and hope he does not wait until the first working day to leave UK to tell me I have won a million. I would like to know the second my bond comes up a winner.

PriamFarrl · 10/10/2022 22:29

On the story I linked to it said that NS&I contacted him to arrange a time to come over. Not sure how they contacted him though. Via his mobile I’m guessing.
