Sorry for the unimaginative title and welcome back to the regulars.

Welcome to all the newbies 👋 hopefully these threads will help you as much as they've helped me and many others. Before you get started, I'd recommend grabbing a cup of tea and reading back through the previous threads. Hi everyone, I've been lurking around these threads for a while trying to pick up ideas on how to earn some extra £ in the evenings.
I've finally got an invite to prolific and I just wanted to check how many studies people usually get per day. At the moment I get maybe 1-2 short studies a day for £0.5 - 1. I check the website 3-4 times a day. Is that normal? Just wondering if August is slow or I'm doing something wrong.

Prolific can be up and down, studies go quickly. I think it’s best when you are working on your computer all day anyway and have the tab open. I can make around £100 a month that way.

ruralwanderer · 18/08/2022 22:12

@betterdaysaheadforsure yes no trouble at all Smile

@Callisto1 August does tend to be slower but I'm getting more surveys than you are so it's worth downloading the Prolific Assistant which will notify you when new studies are available so that you can jump on them ASAP.

Callisto1 · 18/08/2022 22:50

Thanks for the info, I'll get the assistant. I guess, since I'm busy during the day I miss quite a lot of the stuff on Prolific.

SummerHolidaysAgain · 19/08/2022 12:01

I've found prolific to be really slow this week. Typical, when I'm not working and have time to do loads!

SummerHolidaysAgain · 19/08/2022 12:10

@BecauseOfIndia I can't work out if I'm being stupid - can you give me an example of one that pays dividends so I can see where the info is on the app? None of the ones I have clicked on seem to have dividends but I'm not sure if it's that I'm looking in the wrong place, or they really don't have them!
TIA!

SummerHolidaysAgain · 19/08/2022 12:12

Oh sorry ignore that, I've found where it is now!

R2G · 19/08/2022 13:19

I am still loving AttaPoll, I'm in the mindset if I want something now I don't buy it until I've got the money on there. Usually something off amazon or a coffee with friends, make around 60 a month from it with little effort than an hour while I'm watching telly. You get 40p with this refferal link if you wanted to add it in.

I'm inviting you to join AttaPoll. Get paid to take surveys. Download the app here: attapoll.app/join/skawm

Rapidtango · 19/08/2022 15:25

Copied from previous thread
@Graphista, just did the www audio tests and failed, also have no idea why as got 100% in the spelling, grammar and research bits, followed all the instructions on ellipses etc, did the test twice and scored 35% both times Hmm.

I've just done the test again, purposely making deliberate mistakes in every single example, spelling, punctuation etc and my score was...... 35%. What a waste of an afternoon.

Goingtofast · 19/08/2022 21:50

bagged a £10 study on Prolific today, which was a lovely surprise.

Waiting on my first training file with WWW, but worried after all the assessments I’ll fall during training, we shall see!

MrsWombat · 21/08/2022 07:24

So I've decided to stop doing Crisp after 2 years as I'm not making enough money to justify the time I'm sat at the computer. When I started, I easily made minimum wage (before surges) from the pay per item stuff. Nowadays, I can't even do enough to bump the PPI rate up to minimum wage if I do a mod2 shift and get the extra ££. I think this is mostly because the decision trees are longer, the items that paid more have disappeared/moved. I know a lot of you earn enough doing the other shifts it's just PPI that's a bit rubbish for me. I'm probably doing something wrong!

What's made it easier for me is my printables/print on demand sales are doing ok. I've made on average £100+ a month for the past year, so I feel a bit more comfortable losing this "safe" income stream. I've only been managing the minimum 1000 items the past few months which is £30 ish.

I'm also still trickly along with uTest. I've got a couple of projects on the go which pay well. I have started doing Prolific again whilst working on my computer with my printables, to replace my potato peeling. It's definitely paying more per hour. I've already sailed past the £30 I would have been trying to get from Crisp this month.

Goingtofast · 21/08/2022 10:01

How does the print on demand work? Do you design your own items?

Yes I design my own items. I do have a creative fabrica account which I use for clip art to put on my designs as I'm not an artist! I mostly sell t-shirts on Merch by Amazon, and notebooks/puzzle books on Amazon KDP. I upload the t shirt graphics/notebooks+covers to Amazon, they deal with the printing/selling/returns and I get a small royalty in return.

This sounds pretty fun, actually might look into it further, thanks 😊

ruralwanderer · 21/08/2022 21:05

@MrsWombat lovely to hear from you! Smile If it wasn't for the paid per hour shifts, I would have given it up too as I was struggling to make the minimum on PPI as the content has dropped off so much this year.

Does anyone do Modsquad work? I've got the kids in a routine now so I'm happier looking at a greater amount, and more fixed hours, roles than the ad hoc bits that I've been doing.

Yes I left Crisp to go to Modsquad. They're excellent, you get treated with respect and they also pay generous holiday pay. They contribute to your pension too and you can choose what hours to work.

Only downside is that it's very hard to get a job with them. Once you're in you can move between projects really easily but getting in can be tricky.

I applied to work for them but was turned down 😞No idea why. I've worked for Appen, Telus and Crisp so have had loads of experience of this type of work. The only thing I did notice is that when I applied it asked loads of questions about working as a remote customer service rep, which I've never done. It seemed odd as I was apply for moderation work.

I was put on their list in 2020 @8DPWoah and told they'd contact me.if any jobs came my way. Still waiting.

Hi all, am a regular lurker on here but haven't posted much.

Just wanted to ask if anyone has tried to redeem their Shoppix points through PayPal and if so how long does it take to come through?

I redeemed a voucher on 16th August and it still is not showing in my PayPal account.

Thanks 😊

GachaBread · 22/08/2022 11:22

@MumofoneASD I'm a avid user of shoppix. Max payout time for me is 3 working days. Few days ago there was a Mainteance message that popped up so this could be possible reason for your delay.

sorrynotathome · 23/08/2022 08:39

Hello I'm a newbie and these threads are really helpful, thank you all! I'm interested in transcription but wondering whether you need special equipment? I saw a post in the Employment section that mentioned special software and a pedal (I think to stop & start the tape). Is it possible to do transcription with just a normal (Macbook) computer? It would be good to know before I go through the signup process. Thanks!

ruralwanderer · 23/08/2022 10:30

@sorrynotathome for the Appen transcription projects you won't need any special software. I'm not sure about specific transcription companies.

Thanks @ruralwanderer . I’ve just done the tests for WWW and like another poster, I aced them all but came out with 35%. Frustrating!!

8DPWoah · 23/08/2022 18:34

@sorrynotathome I just use basic earphones and laptop, I've got a pedal but I can't get on with it to be honest! The software I get a subscription to runs off function keys on my keyboard so that does for me. I'm not sure about Apple though as I know I have to do my work in Word (and occasionally notepad which is the worst 🤣) so I would check that side of things before getting too committed.

Rev might work actually, as their transcripts are are in an online widget thing so not reliant on office. I've never been accepted onto an Appen transcription project!
