Oodie

I cannot put this under style and beauty as an Oodie is neither stylish nor beautiful 😂 but I'm utterly horrified by our energy costs and am wondering whether to buy an Oodie. Obviously I don't have a spare £60 so was wondering if anyone has any good leads for knock offs? I want to feel wonderfully snug without the heating on ideally!

We can see this thread is a little old, but if you’ve landed here looking for current Oodie alternatives, including more budget-friendly recommendations, we’ve recently updated our best blanket hoodie page with lots of great options, as rated and loved by Mumsnet users. We hope it helps Flowers

“I'd definitely need to take it off for work video calls and I'd rather not mess up my hair in the process.”

Not that I know of, but they've got fairly loose necks, my hair is curly (well wavy technically) so problematic taking most things off and I can take them on and off without it touching my hair.

@Blackopal

I signed up and they sent a discount code to my email (check spam) you put code in at checkout, takes cost to £34
Nope the £59 price is an automatically applied coupon so when you try to add the sign up coupon it removes the first coupon. Stays at £59 :(

I've bought the Primark one £18 and it's brilliant, also bought a £14 one from primark thats more fleecy but don't wear that one much because it tickles me 🤦🏼‍♀️

I bought DS one from Amazon around the £20 mark and he loves it.

Any tips on how to get the price below £59?

@iRun2eatCake

I don't "get" it...

Why not just wear a jumper?

Who said we don't wear a jumper as well. The beauty of an oodie is that you can have a jumper underneath, oodie on top. I am not a great fan of thermal layers right underneath because of the hassle if I go somewhere hot, so this is like a layer on top.

Get one from amazon or primark etc. My amazon one is fab and I think was about £20
HotSauceCommittee · 09/03/2022 10:22

I'd never wanted one of these until I read this thread!
Does it make it possible to sit in the garden comfortably for a bit, do you think?

Movingonup22 · 09/03/2022 10:23

@HotSauceCommittee for sure!

Mine is a Tirrinia from Amazon. Its got proper cuffs so your sleeves don't fall into your food. Its the hottest thing ever. Was great in the garden for cool summer evenings too.

I absolutely love my Oodie, I got one for Christmas & everyone in my family now has one & the heating has been turned down so it isn't too hot to wear them constantly

ChessieFL · 09/03/2022 10:47

I’ve got this from Amazon: amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B09PKPGWJY?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title]]

I’ve not seen/used a real Oodie so can’t say how it compares, but I love mine! It’s warm, cosy and long so helps keep my legs warm too. I’m a person who feels the cold and this is perfect for me. It’s got cuffs to keep the sleeves out of the way and the pouch is very handy too. The pink is a brighter baby pink than shown in the photo which makes it look more of a dusky pink, but as nobody outside the family sees me in it I don’t care. I love it and wear it as much as I can (and I have a heated throw which I use over my legs when working - I get lots of video calls so can’t really wear my giant hoodie during work!)
