Oodie

cafedesreves · 08/03/2022 19:34

I cannot put this under style and beauty as an Oodie is neither stylish nor beautiful 😂 but I'm utterly horrified by our energy costs and am wondering whether to buy an Oodie. Obviously I don't have a spare £60 so was wondering if anyone has any good leads for knock offs? I want to feel wonderfully snug without the heating on ideally!

We can see this thread is a little old, but if you’ve landed here looking for current Oodie alternatives, including more budget-friendly recommendations, we’ve recently updated our best blanket hoodie page with lots of great options, as rated and loved by Mumsnet users. We hope it helps Flowers

I took the plunge and bought the proper oodie. It keeps me really warm whilst wfh since I don't move much. And it has reduced my gas usage a lot as I am a cold person.
My bill for gas and electric got reviewed in Jan for the previous 3 months and actually went down from £161 to £117 a month. Though I'm expecting it to go up again with the price hikes in April.

We have the comfy and it is really warm, I don't think you would want it warmer. I have some slightly cheaper ones for the spring which are not as warm but still comfy.

I have that exact one that’s currently £10... it’s great, I’m sure it’s not as high quality as an actual oodie, but it’s warm, it washes well... and it’s a tenner...

MunchyMonsters · 08/03/2022 20:17

I have the Kudd.ly which is rated higher than the Oodie. DC have them too.

Havent put my heating at all this winter.

Seasidemumma77 · 08/03/2022 20:17

I bought the Aldi version of Oodie for me and dc, my friend got Primark ones for her household, we have both managed to greatly reduce temperature in our houses.

Blackopal · 08/03/2022 20:20

OP you reminded ne that my daughter wants an oodie for her birthday.
I just went onto their site and straight away it offered a £25 off if I sign up to newsletter, have you seen that?

TheFormidableMrsC · 08/03/2022 20:23

I got Primark dupes for both DS and I. They were £18. Absolutely excellent.

Wolfiefan · 08/03/2022 20:24

I finally caved and bought one. It is SOOOO warm. Definitely worth it for me.

Thanks! I did but it's still £59 for me?

We got some amazing ones from Amazon, the brand is Ashley Mills. They were about £22 each and are so warm we have to turn the heating down when we wear them

Blackopal · 08/03/2022 20:27

I signed up and they sent a discount code to my email (check spam) you put code in at checkout, takes cost to £34

BarryTheKestrel · 08/03/2022 20:29

I got one from dunelm and it is amazing. I've used a friend's official oodie and whilst there is a slight difference, not enough to warrant a £45/£50 price difference though.

Blackopal · 08/03/2022 20:29

Nope, ignore me. Got slightly over excited at imagined bargain, you are right still £59 Hmm

Takeawaytonight · 08/03/2022 20:32

Dunelm do an oversized fleece hoodie for £16.

Flexitarian · 08/03/2022 20:32

I’ve got the kudd.ly and it’s an absolute lifesaver when I’m WFH. It’s a bit cheaper than Oodie and I bought DS one at the same time which saved a bit of money.

Ted27 · 08/03/2022 20:33

I got 2 for £50 last year.
We love them, don’t need heating on when you wear them, better than a dressing gown because there is no opening and better than wrapping yourself in a duvet or blanket as its easier to move around.

It has also spared both mine and my teenage son’s blushes several times - I have a bad back and sometimes need help getting in and out of the bath. I just empty the water, put the oodie on, son helps me out - much better than trying to hold on to a towel

NorthFaceofthelaundrypile · 08/03/2022 20:37

We also put ours on the bed as an extra layer at night. Makes a real difference on the cold nights.

Starbonnet123 · 08/03/2022 20:41

I bought a comfy off Amazon for about £40 for my daughter and she loves it . It's Sherpa fleece lined and quite a good length

AdoraBell · 08/03/2022 20:43

No idea what Oodie is, but I use my dressing gown, not expensive, and add a fleece blanket while I’m sitting down in the evening.

20viona · 08/03/2022 20:43

I have a and the Amazon one and dunelm ones are the best. Order a huge size so you can get your knees up and really get cosy!

AdoraBell · 08/03/2022 20:45

If I had squillions sloshing around I would buy a silk/cashmere gown from Shibumir

Gribbie · 08/03/2022 20:49

My kids got one each for christmas - they're fantastic! I've not tried a knock off so can't comment but I nick one of the kids ones when they're at school and haven't put the heating on in the day for ages (I WFH).

cafedesreves · 08/03/2022 20:51

Omg just got 2 kuddlys with a deal! Thanks all. Will feed back!
