Morning all,

Thought I'd start a new thread for June as I couldn't see one that had been done yet. Ignore if I've cross posted!

I'll post the links for all the sites shortly, but for now here's a link to the last thread: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/legal_money_matters/4252763-2nd-Part-of-Mays-Earn-10-a-day-thread

All welcome, new and old alike - let's start the summer off with a bang and get earning those pennies! Hope everyone has a good month.

What @Frenchdoors1 just said. It can take awhile to get a project and even when you get one there’s no guarantees how long it’ll last.
I waited ages for my first Appen project (months and months and probably more months!) and every week it feel likes it’s going to end.

Frenchdoors1 · 25/06/2021 10:09

Yep, what @AnotherOne4 just said.
I waited probably longer lol.

I see a project and think, ooh I can do that, then it stays there until after a certain time limit, then, they start disappearing from active processes, and you think, hmmm, why?!

Novelusername · 25/06/2021 10:20

I feel exactly the same, @floyd , postgrad here too and feeling a bit depressed about my 'career' tbh. First priority is to just grit my teeth and try earning some cash via anywhere that will have me and try to stay away from self-pity, but it's not easy!

namechangerforthisconfessionn · 25/06/2021 11:42

I'm gutted I've been kicked off Rev for 2 stupid mistakes 😭 could cry I loved doing Rev work

@Novelusername - I hear you and share the pain!! I do have a P/T job which I love and which is hugely demanding but I have got to the point where I really want to save money so anything that will contribute to that is in the mix. I don't want to add hours more to my existing role (nor the stress that goes with that) so I feel positive about making that choice but a bit 'meh' about not having my brilliance and positive attitude toward 'any work at all' recognised and instantly rewarded lol!!

@namechangerforthisconfessionn; 2 mistakes?! That is harsh (and slightly terrifying tbh...!) I hope something else comes along really quickly.
namechangerforthisconfessionn · 25/06/2021 11:59

@flloyd it's because my metrics fell below their averages as a revver. I followed the clients instructions rather than the Rev transcript instructions it's my own stupid fault but I am so gutted Sad

Novelusername · 25/06/2021 12:05

Sorry to hear that, namechangerforthisconfessionn. I really need the money, but I'm wondering if the stress of training to do transcription is really worth it as it's really making me doubt myself. I quite enjoyed doing the Appen speech and video collection tasks, but I haven't been offered anything else by them.

furryous · 25/06/2021 14:01

@namechangerforthisconfessionn Oh how gutting for you Sad I find it really stressful! One bad grade makes such a dent in your metrics and it seems to take a lot more to drag it back up to what they want than it took to knock it down! I've PMed you.

Lifeisforalimitedperiodonly · 25/06/2021 14:23

Well I failed the third attempt at WWW. I wish they gave feedback as I would really like to know what I did wrong!

flloyd · 25/06/2021 20:28

Yay! Passed the Rev tests and now onto id verification process. Slightly anxious now I know how very easy it is to get the boot from Rev though...Gawd.

rhij86 · 25/06/2021 21:20

Managed to get my 20 hours on SD done!
I could really do with an evening off but these debts won't pay themselves so here I am, peeling potatoes...

Praying for another full week on SD to finish off the month 🙏🏻

OP posts:
Novelusername · 25/06/2021 21:36

Lifeisforalimitedperiodonly Sorry about that. Yeah, I felt like I was stabbing in the dark and just happened to get lucky in the end. I've seen lots of other transcriptions websites If you fancied trying another one, there's loads of them, though not sure about the pay. I watched this and the woman is an English teacher but still failed the WWW test, so take heart. She also has some ideas on her channel for ways to make money online.

flloyd Congrats!

Novelusername · 25/06/2021 21:40

I never heard back from Rev, so I'm guessing I haven't been successful there.

LoLo2020 · 25/06/2021 23:03

So I'm hoping SD continues , at least until end of month :/ I've been accepted on to Appen c***t but can't even access the tool! Says access denied or something ha ha!

superpinkgirl · 26/06/2021 08:13

@LoLo2020 I've also just started on ct and had trouble logging in - I managed to log in via internet explorer and then it gave me access to log in via chrome, maybe try and see if this works for you.

AnotherOne4 · 26/06/2021 08:45

I'm on C***t but I find there is never any decent work on there.......

3dogsnorth · 26/06/2021 08:57

@flloyd I just passed Rev too and your comments echoed my thoughts exactly. Excited to pass but worried about getting booted off before I even get going. Maybe some experienced Revvers will have tips on taking it easy at the start

swiftt · 26/06/2021 09:15

@3dogsnorth I’ve only been doing Rev for a few months but I’ve done 1000s of minutes, made plenty of wee mistakes but have only ever been graded 5s. To start with, take short, easy files. You can lose your account easily if you take a long file and receive a bad grade on it because you don’t have other grades as a cushion to balance out the bad grade. But if you stick to their style guide and use the forums on there, as well as the lend an ear forum, I don’t think there’s anything to be worried about. You don’t take a metrics hit for minor errors, just major ones like accuracy. But if you’re unsure about anything at all, ask on their forum and 9 times out of 10 you’ll get a super quick and friendly answer. I’m hoping to get back to Rev once I actually have some spare time again. 🤞

AnotherOne4 · 26/06/2021 10:32

Anyone on CW? Do the audio file jobs work for you?

superpinkgirl · 26/06/2021 11:17

@AnotherOne4 I am finding there is not a lot of work on ct either, it takes too long to read all the task instructions and then finding there isn't very much work to do.

I'm getting an error message on the CW audio file jobs saying there are no further jobs available on this project.

I've not been very productive here today so far! Smile

@swiftt - thank you for this! I am just waiting for the admin stuff to be completed and I will do the tutorials, read the guidelines and go very carefully (and slowly probably) to start with. I do really enjoy this kind of work in fact and am highly motivated to make some savings so fingers crossed!! :)

AnotherOne4 · 26/06/2021 12:15

@superpinkgirl ditto to everything you said lol

3dogsnorth · 26/06/2021 13:04

@swiftt Thank you for your advice. I think slowly and surely is the way forward.

AnotherOne4 · 26/06/2021 20:37

@superpinkgirl Just been having a look at Ct....there's a good one on there - I've earnt $16.80 so far and not been on it long Grin
