Morning all,

Thought I'd start a new thread for June as I couldn't see one that had been done yet. Ignore if I've cross posted!

I'll post the links for all the sites shortly, but for now here's a link to the last thread: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/legal_money_matters/4252763-2nd-Part-of-Mays-Earn-10-a-day-thread

All welcome, new and old alike - let's start the summer off with a bang and get earning those pennies! Hope everyone has a good month.

@Spanglebangle

Hi, I just found this group today. Now that I occasionally get some free time in the evening I was hoping to earn some money.

I have signed up to Appen and will do some more in a bit.

I have a few questions if anyone can help...

  1. What is your favorite money maker and why?
  1. What happens with paying tax? Do you do a self assessment or do you not need to pay tax?
  1. How many hours do you work a week on average and how much do you earn?

Sorry, may be a bit personal but I really want to make a go of this and this group seems really lovely.

Hello and welcome! Smile

Good luck with Appen! I have been working for them since around August last year and I've really enjoyed it (once I got the hang of it). It's a bit hit and miss as you never know when/if you end up selected to projects or how long projects last for, but if you get one or two bigger, longer term projects it's great. The pay is usually decent too, which is my main motivator. When I have a good Ap project on I tend to drop all the little surveys and such and focus on getting the hours in.

I haven't done a self assessment quite yet but I have registered for one, so will need to do one for the previous financial year. I think if you make more than £1000 you have to register as self employed and do a self assessment. I'll report back when I've done mine. Grin

If I have a project on I do a minimum of 20 hours a week, but I have done more if required. Obviously there are times when I have absolutely nothing going on so I'm mostly sitting here stressing about it, but it varies massively.

I hope that helps a bit! I feel like I'm still a bit of a newbie but just realised I have started doing this stuff a year ago now! These threads have been so useful and everyone here is so helpful and lovely, so if you have any questions just fire away!

Welcome @Spanglebangle Smile
Just to give you an example: My favourite job at the minute is one from Appen. Are few of us are on it, you might have seen us mention SD. We have to do 20 hours a week.
It can all be a bit slow to start with, but stick with it all, as when you get the 'golden project' it's great Grin

Can I just say good luck and hope everything goes well to @swiftt this week (I'm sure it's this week she is due) Good luck hun! Flowers

Buster27 · 07/06/2021 21:33

@universal83 it's a project on Appen, the names are generally starred out on here for confidentiality.

This particular one involves buying products from social media adverts and reviewing the buying process. You get reimbursed for buying them but also get to keep the products.

MoreMoneyPlease · 07/06/2021 21:36

Hi @GachaBread Great to hear from you. I did a bit of mystery shopping during lockdown, all phone calls which was easy and quite well paid. I'd be happy to do them every day!

universal83 · 07/06/2021 21:43

Thanks @Buster27 I was just really confused Grin

swiftt · 07/06/2021 21:45

@AnotherOne4 ah, thank you so much! Flowers I’m still trying to fire through the hours before wee one makes an appearance! 😂

GachaBread · 07/06/2021 21:51

@MoreMoneyPlease glad ur dipping your toes in mystery shopping and really nice to hear from you too. Shiftsmart is another good app but work is not as fruitful as the other apps. I did two remote tasks from home (well I was in bed if I'm being honest) on it last week for £15 each that took 5minutes each to complete and just been paid for them today. Had to screenshot how easy it was to look for specific smart watches on EE and Voda websites, all very easy!

The pandemic caused mystery shopping to go underground for a while but it's back now everything is getting better, the only problem is that the rewards for jobs have dropped a little across all the platforms.

All in all though it is my number one side hussle and I have just booked 3 little tasks to complete before and after work tomorrow that will take no longer then a hour to do.

I've just done over four hours on SD. I'm cross eyed now, time for bed.

Good luck with everything Smile

No Am for me this month. Sad

Buster27 · 07/06/2021 23:50

Boring am** round for me. A cheap kids toy not worth returning so will pass on to my friend, a beauty product I will enjoy using so happy enough with that one and had to skip on coffee as it was an overseas one that wouldn't ship to me. Disappointed with that one as it's probably the best product I've had (in terms of wanting to keep it Grin).

ruralwanderer · 08/06/2021 05:27

No Am** for me either this month - given the dire quality of the products last month though, can't say I'm disappointed!

jumpingforjoy · 08/06/2021 05:58

No Am* for me this month. Have had utter shit the last few months so not too bothered but I do enjoy the thrill GrinHmm

Redcrayons · 08/06/2021 06:25

No Amur for me either. I’ve only done it twice and had two nice things to keep. I quite enjoy it and had decent refunds so a bit Of a shame.

Baby89 · 08/06/2021 06:46

Hi all. I've had am*r ticket email to say I've been chosen. Finally. However when I click the Facebook link its broke, I'm trying from phone?any help appreciated thank you

jumpingforjoy · 08/06/2021 06:49

@Baby89 has to be on a computer Smile

redgirl1 · 08/06/2021 06:54

No am** here either. I have done it twice one dire month and one fab month. So I would have been happy to do it.
June is shaping up to be a quiet month for me. I need to turn it around.

PersianStar · 08/06/2021 07:49

Quiet month for me here too. I have 35 active on Appen so I’m hoping 1 or 2 of those might turn into something this month, but I’m not holding out much hope.

Frenchdoors1 · 08/06/2021 07:52

@PersianStar Same here ..I think I've had had loads active at any one time over the 18 months I've been on Ap and have had 1 come to fruition Shock

whysotriggered · 08/06/2021 08:08

No amur for me either, fingers crossed for next month!

universal83 · 08/06/2021 08:46

With prolific how long can surveys be awaiting approval? Half have been approved and half still waiting so not sure how long it takes as very new to this :) x

Redcrayons · 08/06/2021 09:01

@universal83 there’s no set time to it. You automatically get paid by default after, I think 28 days but most approve much quicker than that.
They do pay quickly though. You usually get paid same day when you cash out.

universal83 · 08/06/2021 09:37

@Redcrayons thanks so much that is really helpful x

AnotherOne4 · 08/06/2021 10:12

Did anyone get offered Se? I did. Bit scared about it lol. Not sure if it replaces Am**. Will sit down later and take a good look at it.

Gatekeeper · 08/06/2021 10:28

No am*r for me either. Last month wasn't great but I still enjoyed doing it

universal83 · 08/06/2021 10:29

Is Appen on a laptop or desktop not working for some but is ok on mobile app?
